I am an Australian of Greek heritage and this so darn good ...its brilliant. I absolutely loved this performance, it put a huge smile on my face. Thank you Chooky Dancers. I hope Greeks everywhere get to see your marvellous talent.
We are laughing WITH them AT THEIR sense of humour. Those blokes have not only the dance ability but the comedic skills to have a bit of fun at the same time. I love the chooky dancers all the more for this, and I hope that they achieve success.
wish I'd been taught THESE moves when I was growing up rather than the standard hopping around.. sensational and yet really respectful.. well done guys
Im not Greek OR an Indigenous Australian... But this makes me so proud to be a part of the human race. Saw this at a uni lecture... probably the best thing I've seen AT uni! lol Yasu!
Stay what you are it is not your culture to dance like . You should be very proud of your cuontry and keep the forneurs out of your country . Aborigines stay where you are . It is your country . Out the white you stole ther land.
Coming from a Greek background, I am NOT offended at all. In fact I commend them. I know we as Greek don ttake offense to other races dancing our music and songs. If the Aboriginals do, then thats there business. If it is a cultural sensitive thing to do Aboriginal dancing then who are we to do it? GOOD ON YOU ALL FOR DOING THIS. GOD BLESS AUSTRALIA THE BEST COUNTRY ON EARTH
Aussie at times grudgingly but mostly do love our aborigines, they are the best footballers, artists and athletes bar none, now also great choreographers & dancers, we Aussies understand the dance moves are inherent in their culture and the Zorba was done as a tribute to a Greek carer of a sister of one of the dancers. Also if we got some of the aborigine kids into the AIS as soccer players, we would win the next soccer world cup, no contest.
i have to apologise for LMAO... i can't help but laughed @ the fat guy from the back row..he wobbles and shakes.. should think he'd roll over or somthin..haha!! ..but great dancing overall ..lol
In the late 18th century, there were between 350 and 750 aboriginal languages & dialects, today fewer than 150 languages remain, some having as little as 1000 speakers, A total of 2.5% of Australias population claim to be full or part aboriginal, what a unique race these people are, many of the performers here speak no English, so how can they offend Greeks & others?
These guys are really good, but the only thing that i find stupid is the fact that if a Greek person (for example) put on aboriginal music and started dancing to it, he/she would be called a racist and probably stabbed repeatedly. We really need to fix this one-way racism thing.
my "anglo countrymen" ? Clearly you are the one who is making racist generalisations. You just don't get it, do you ? The chooky dancers performances are enjoyed by indigenous and non-indigenous Australians, as well as people around the world. They have combined what appears to be traditional Aboriginal dance moves, along with other ideas with a thoroughly non-indigenous tune. Let me make it plain once again, ABORIGINALS ARE ALLOWED TO HAVE A SENSE OF HUMOUR.
I counted 26 positive comments, and 5 negative plus some irrelevant and deleted. Your definition of a majority is a bit skewed. You might also watch the numerous other versions of the same blokes dancing and listen to the comments by their manager. But sadly, Sam, you appear to have a condescending & racist attitude to our indigenous countrymen. They are "noble savages" of great and ancient culture, eh, and aren't allowed to have a sense of humour ?
Here you have a decades old piece of music taken from an old Greek musical, itself adopted from a classic 1940s Greek novel, remixed into a modern pop dance track, being used in a modern take of a dance, also taken from that musical, being performed by Australian Indigenous dancers. And it's all done humourously. Who are these so-called Australians ranting on this page without a bloody sense of humour? No doubt xenophobic Christian Right and One Nation supporting ignoramuses.
