Love your light hearted, spirited attitude. Vantage or the Columbia river gorge in general , is notorious for un predictable viscous winds and good luck to anybody or anything in its path !
Thank you! We definitely learned the hard way on going out to Vantage but now we know and are prepared for future visits 😉 👍
Just found your channel. Love the local places you go.
Weekend warrior at its finest, thank you for the support! 👍🏼
Your channel is about to blow up! Seriously quality content man.👏
Greatly appreciate it, thank you!
Looking for local digs and this video came up. Great video. Natures wind around here is just it thanks for sharing 🤙🏻
Right on! Appreciate the support, thank you!
It’s a great area over there. Well done
Chris B thank you! It was a great time, can’t wait to get back out and attempt that first trail...
Located in Puget Sound and came across you channel a while back and so far I'm liking you're videos! Cant wait to get my Toyota 4runner here soon and check out some of the forest roads I've had in mind for the last 2-3 years and explore more!
Thank you very much for the support! There is certainly plenty to explore around here, even better when you can find some trails with snow! Have fun out there and congrats on the 4Runner 👍
Love this video 👍
Sincerely appreciate it!
Great rig setup
Come back out here in the summer. It's warm, sunny, and there is less wind.
Definitely on our agenda to do!
I love that place. Its scary at night.. lol.
Hello there, just wanted to say thanks for the work you put into your content! My husband & I have been enjoying your beautiful vids/commentary...we are noobs in the overland dept. and appreciate the information you share among other information out here in youtube. Keep up the awesome work! 🤙😊🤙
ohdeejay bsox thank you so much for following along, glad to hear you guys are enjoying the videos and find it helpful! I hope it can give some inspiration to get out and try new things, definitely don’t need know every piece of detail or have all the gear to enjoy time outdoors! Can’t wait to share more as the videos continue, safe travels guys!
@@ConquestOverland You definitely gave us a lot of inspiration! We are looking to check out the high steel bridge soon (weather permitting) & I really wanna see the Cascades at some point. But thanks bunches for your great stuff!
ohdeejay bsox that sounds like a fun agenda to me! You will love it! Even during the winter there are plenty of beautiful places to explore, just have to get the calendar out and mark the dates! Have fun! 👍🏼
@@ConquestOverland Absolutely! We look forward to some adventures and seeing more vids of yours! Have a great rest of the week & upcoming weekend! 👋🏻😊
ohdeejay bsox you as well, thank you!
Nice video. Because of this video, we explored this area last June. It was pretty cool but there were a lot of people. We had planned to camp there in January but nothing worked out. Maybe next winter. Thanks for posting!
Thank you for the support! This area can unfortunately get rather crowded as the weather warms up but if you can embrace the wind and colder temps definitely try heading out there in the winter months!
@@ConquestOverland I was planning to cheat on this one a little. I plan to do it in the truck and camper. :)
I thought my roof top tent was going to blown off the top of the Jeep when we did our Columbia River Overland trip last June.
@@Ceg-TVcom fair enough! The winds are no joke out there, being in the camper sounds very comfy! Haha
Amazing, top-notch and quality content. Views are over the top beautiful. I want to plan a West Coast adventure and Washington, Oregon and Utah are on top of my list so far. Your videos are helping me choose some pinpoint locations. I hike and my passion is landscape photography. Thank you for great videos, from Tennessee. I want to invest in a drone, what drone do you recommend?
Located in Oregon and definitely planning a trip over there soon 🤘🏾thanks for the video bro I hope one day we could plan a trip together
For sure!!
Dude! You experienced spring winds on this side of the mountains. Nothing new for us, just an annoyance. Great channel!!
It came as a surprise for us, but NOW we know haha. Looking forward to exploring out there more in the coming months.
Thanks for the support, take care!
Looks like Frenchman's Coulee at the first camp site?
Those winds you speak of are very common in this part of Washington . . . as is the sun, hence the desert 😉
James Nacke it definitely took us by surprise as this was our first time staying overnight in this area. Should have known this could potentially be with all the wind turbines out there... haha. Still, incredible area to explore and looking forward to getting back out there!
@@ConquestOverland, when you do, as someone who's now covered the entire state of Washington and live in eastern Washington, I'd be happy to join ya . . . maybe I could show you some areas you might not have visited yet 😉
James Nacke sounds like a great plan, would love to plan a trip!
Great vid thanks for posting! Did you try going south of Vantage on the West side of the river ? I've been meaning to explore that area.
Thanks! Have not yet, though it's on the list to explore potentially this summer/fall! 👍
Recently discovered your channel while looking for local "overlanding"/camping ideas. Would an AWD SUV be able to handle those dirt roads? Keep up the great content!
Right on, thank you for the stopping by and for the support! The AWD SUV would be just fine, if some areas seem to have a bigger potholes just remember to take it slow and watch your wheel placement.
I see some camping there in the near future
DENNIS KING always! This is year-round fun! 👊🏼
nice video.
michaelxie1978 thank you so much!
Love the channel. Would you be able to share the location of the campsite ?
Head down Vantage Road on the East side of the Columbia River, you’ll find it and more. 😉👍🏼
Appreciate the support, thank you!
Do you have a permit or something to be able to camp on an unmarked spot like that? Id love to just pull my car over and camp sometimes when I'm driving through beautiful parts of Washington! I just always thought I had to have some kind of permit.
All depends on the land you are on. National Parks, State Parks, and some areas (very few) of National Forests all require a pass. Even depending on the season they may require certain passes for certain activity, best to check online or calling the ranger stations before heading out just to make sure. For this particular spot it’s on public land and legal dispersed spots to camp so no pass needed. This goes the same for most National Forest which is where we are often explore! 👍🏼
Hence the term, The Mountain is out.
Awesome videos! Now a follower. I have a tundra towing a pop up camper. Can it make it over to that spot?
Thank you for the support! You should have no trouble making it to this spot, many everyday passenger vehicles frequently visit this area.
After. You crossed the bridge did you go left or right turns? And how did yo find that road entry?? Thanks 🙏🏽
Simply Google "Frenchman Coulee" and it'll take you right there! 👍
I wish I have friends like you. Always wanted to do this but I have zero experience. I have a 4WD pickup though. :-) Where and how to begin!? I'm from Western WA as well! SUBSCRIBED!!
One begins by simply diving right in! Don’t wait until you have all the gear, the perfect vehicle, the best this or best that... I’ve always said it doesn’t matter what you drive, just as long as you’re getting out!
There are numerous great resources online and right here on UA-cam for getting the basics to ensure you are safely venturing out. Check out videos by Lifestyle Overland, Overlandbound, Expedition Overland website, and even attending local overland rallies 👍
One goal of mine for this channel is to have a mini series covering all topics exactly like this.
Have fun out there and safe travels!
Great view! What editing program do you use for your videos?
Thank you so much! I use Final Cut Pro, works very well with my current workflow.
Thanks! Keep it up
I like your videos really cool places!!!! Just wanted to know how to get here at this place ??
Thank you for the support!
Check out Vantage Road just off I-90, lots to see!
Dang. I want to camp there too but that wind
It's not too terribly bad, just have to come prepared 😉 👍
this is so awesome, wondering if I can also join any club or overlanding experiencing after modifying my subaru ascent?
There are plenty of Subaru groups out there. Try exploring on Facebook and Instagram then grow your network from there. Plan on attending various meetups and rally’s too. I know the NW Overland Rally is a big one, though they just postponed their original event date to September.
Also check out NWOL (Northwest Overland) and Overland Bound's NW Group - online & on FB
Welcome to the gorge baby👍😆
Was a windy welcome indeed, looking forward to next time!
Moses lake Wa!
What program do you use for video editing?
Final Cut Pro, works for all my needs! 👍🏼
Awesome video! How do I find that camping area?
Part of the adventure is finding unique places on your own, though if you explored the general area or even did some research on Gaia GPS I guarantee you'd find it. Safe travels!
@@ConquestOverland very true! I will check out Gaia, looking forward to your next video
Do you know the name of that waterfall?
Check out the Frenchman Coulee area
One of the many reasons I couldn’t deal with a rooftop tent. Those things are loud as hell.
Ground tents would be equally as loud if not worse with their rainfly designs...? Staying home would be nice and quiet though! 😉
What navigation do you use?
Gaia GPS
Where do you find new locations to overland in? Alltrails not too useful.
Check out Gaia GPS, TrailsOffroad, and Google Earth. With all those resources combined you'll definitely be off to a great start for finding trails and campsites 👍
I do plan on have a mini series showcasing this exact process to help others out, stay tuned!
@@ConquestOverland Thanks!
Any Gaia waypoints for any of these roads?
Kev B not yet, though I can easily put something together! In the meantime if you explore any of the trails off Silica Rd, you’ll be bound to find something. Cheers! 👊🏼
@@ConquestOverland would be rad if you did for each of these episodes. Always looking for new places
For sure! Definitely will keep that in mind. Plenty more trips to come!
Second that! Great adventures and getting inspiration for where to take my family! Looks like an awesome spot!
Arick Auyang in the works! I’ll keep you guys posted as the episodes progress. Thanks for watching!
I am one of the 74 people to live in Washington
Another cool spot in that area to explore is Drumheller Channel. I think the whole area is called the Columbia River Wildlife Refuge? Very cool topography for your drone. Here is a video I did a couple years ago of the area: ua-cam.com/video/w7hFfQIMwKE/v-deo.html
Very cool! I'll have to add it to the list next time we're out that direction. Loved the video!
awesome film...too much musiccccccc
I’ll be better next time haha 😉
