    America's strength and prosperity come from it's freedom. As America backs away from freedom, it will become less wealthy, and the poorest will be most affected.

    People: I don't trust the government.
    Same people: Government please take my only means of defending myself against anything you might do to me.
    I have never understood why people are against the second amendment, at the end if the day you are the only person that you can count in an emergency to have your best interests in mind.

    Our rights themselves do not come from governments. Our rights are a logical result of the fact that we own our own bodies and lives. Good nations defend the individual rights to life, liberty and property. Bad ones violate those pre-existing rights. That's how we can tell which governments are good ones, and which are bad ones.

      @@jasmitharani9838 We generally agree. Your life is a gift from God. So your life and your body are YOURS. Your rights to life, liberty and property come from that basic fact.

      Hi. I liked your comments. I wanted to ask clarification on your sentence, "We own our own bodies and lives." Are you referring to "Natural Law?"

    • @johnmguzman7491
      @johnmguzman7491 3 дні тому

      @jasmitharani9838 yes. This sounds like Natural Rights.
      Rights that people supposedly have under natural law . The Declaration of Independence of the United States lists life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness as natural rights.

    2:55 I think she will be more miserable and fearful if she doesn't know what can bring her to the jail. But actually she is saying at least her explanation is within the maginot line of security measure. I am not sure Iranian government is as scary as it's known here.

    So interesting to hear people's views of their governments that are seen by the west as oppressive, which there is good evidence for, but interesting to hear their side nonetheless.

    I’d rather not have to trust my government.
    Do I trust the CEO of GM? I trust that if he does bad enough he gets fired, but I have the choice of not dealing with his failings and it’s not a 4-year interval before failure is corrected
    I want to build a shed to sell knick-knacks. I don’t know why a suit hundreds of miles away can put me in jail for doing that without telling them

    This video starts with a picture of Finland being randomly, and based on everything in the video absolutely baselessly purported to be more free than America. You asked why that is, well it definitely sounds like that BS chart was made by people with the same interests as the people in control of Finland. I know this is a class on sociology, but randomly placing a percentage sign behind a number doesn’t make it true or meaningful in the slightest, only evidence can do that.

    This cracks me up, because everyone wants to say Finland is a modern socialist country. If that were true it couldn't have a 100/100 freedom score OR the scoring is a lie.

    • @d2wk3
      @d2wk3 День тому

      What cracks me up is the conflation between communism and socialism, a clear indication of misdirection or lack of education. The government of Finland, as well as the other Scandinavian countries are parliamentary republics/democracies…democracies because people vote for their government. Their markets are free and capitalistic.
      healthcare, elderly care, education, and retirement, other social benefits, and sometimes natural resources are socialized, look up “Social Policy in Finland”.

    Maybe someone more knowledgeable can fill me in, but I highly doubt a fair fraction of the trillions in oil money is used to progress average Saudis. They'd be the most progessive country in the world by now.

      Interesting point. Have you read this book? Titled, 'The Muslim Next Door' by Sumbul Ali-Karamali. You might enjoy a part of her chapter on that topic.

      I think the results might change soon. In 2023, there was growing concern about violence after a string of shootings, assaults, and robberies. Gang violence was growing. The government affirmed the ties between increased migration and crime, particularly crimes that rhyme with tape. This is creating a divide among citizens.

      @4850937 Not directly. Ethnic homogeneity usually operates as a tangible reinforcement of cultural homogeneity. People with in-group preferences usually associate ethnic similarity with similarity in belief structure. Understandably so since a) most of human history is made up of cultural and ethnic national homogeneity and b) even the United States despite its diversity still ghettoizes not wholly from external pressures but internal preference.
      The ethnic bar is simply the social bulwark of cultural unity and at its inverse, can be a marker that someone does not share the same paramount values as yourself, your neighbors, or your country.
      If a country shares largely similar ideological values, there is a greater social trust and in turn more freedom. If groups of populations don't share similar values, trust erodes, and freedom erodes.
