What's strange though is the lack of views. Engineering Explained has roughly the same amount of viewers for example. But his videos have 300k views each. Eric's videos have a fraction of that. It's basically the same story on every video.
Well, I ordered the part from Parts Geek. 68 bucks, not bad, the part came yesterday, installed it today...FIXED! Works perfectly every time. Took longer to clear the stuff out of the back! Thanks so much for the video. Probably would have "lived" with it. You Da Man!...
Thanks for doing some videos about simple things like this. I enjoy the more complicated stuff too, but from a guy who is likely never going to try to rebuild an engine, I enjoy some of these simpler vides too :D
I've had 5 Integras at this point. I have to say, my 91 was my favorite. Even though I have this car now, I still miss that one. Had 326K on it and was still running strong when I gave it to my son for his first car. Only took him about 4 months to kill it. Sad really.
Eric, you're a legend! ive recently got a job in Honda wreckers and your videos are just priceless source of knowledge how to do things)) greetings from Australia!
Wow Eric, That's what your hands look like! All of the vids I've seen you've been wearing gloves. . .always a great part of my Friday watching you have fun in your shop.
Thank you for using a DVOM! I know that everyone worships at the alter of the test light but I have always liked know specifics and unless you have a lumen meter, you're just guessing. Test lights have their place, but once again, Thank you. I am not alone in the DVOM world!
+EricTheCarGuy you need to teach in a school, seriously, more kids would like the shop more with someone like you teaching the class, even with your long videos you dont get boring, great job
Before I started ETCG I had considered that very thing. Now that I've done ETCG, I'm very happy. However, I think at some point I will see if I can get more involved with helping aspiring technicians in their careers more directly. Probably with Fixing it Forward. Thanks for the comment.
please do a video taking the actuator apart, i have a fault with one that causes the door to lock continuously (apparently it's a rubber bump stop) seeing the process would be a great help before i embark on the journey myself & possibly break the thing in the process, many thanks for all the great vids!
Nice clean wiring. Nothing more hurtin than when you discover the last dozen owners must have been 17yrs old and thought they were car stereo wiring experts.
Erick u the best always straight to the point love ur videos they been helping me whenever i doub myself on some jobs they just make me confident. keep up the good work buddy
Looking at them I would probably just take a screw driver and pry,I would not know unless I read how to do it.There are different clips I always think I might break something.
I have repaired many power door actuators by dissembling the old one and replacing the motor with one from a hobby store. You can usually find a direct replacement motor for less than $5.00 .
I really like your video bro, some are so freaking lame, yours was straight to the point and informative, I appreciate that. Unfortunately my integra appears to have a faulty switch, I will have to pull the panel cover and test it, but I have no power getting to the actuator when I flip the switch and I have checked all the fuses. If you have any other suggestions I will welcome your input.
love how you obtained an integra eric, been watching your videos for years now and its cool how you only live like 30 minutes away. keep up the great work, would love to see you build a Honda. im located in New Richmond 45157
I'm actually hoping he keeps it all, or at least mostly, intact as a stock gsr and not "build" it.... Not only would it keep a decent resale value if he decided to sell it, but he would have a nice piece of good Honda engineering.
Whoa, I might have broken a couple of those plastic clips before, not knowing how they function. Feel like a bit of a fool now. :-) Thanks for the tip, greetings from Croatia!
I like the video on that car and learned something I didn't know before. I have a 1999 Ford Explorer which needs the struts which keep the hood and rear hatch up when opened. The ones which came on the vehicle don't work any more and I ordered new ones to replace them, but was wondering if I need a special tool to put the new struts on the vehicle.
GREAT VIDEO. super straight forward haven’t found as good a video as this. Now I can fix my trunk! Allllso maybe you’ll kno how to do this or not but I need help. Please tell me how to fix the door handle so that there’s not much resistance. My problem isn’t that the door sticks, it’s that the door handle has a lot of resistance when I lift it. So I broke it but my passenger side is super easy to lift with no resistance. So I’m wondering what the difference is and I don’t know if a new door handle will fix it because it may still have that resistance, so I’ll just break the new one too. I wonder if it’s the opening mechanism on the very inside of the door where you have to reach into the metal. Insight on how to make this more smooth!!?! Maybe as easy as lubricating it, or maybe realigning? Insight, pleease!!
Great Video Eric, just a quick question, where is the trunk switch located? Not the actuator. My central lock doesn't work sometimes, then I have to check the fuse box, Press the 10 amps fuse and it goes back to normal.. Any suggestions?
Keep posting these Integra videos man. I've just picked one up that's getting new piston rings and valve seals due to a lying seller, unfortunately. It's cool to see these just for general knowledge of the car. Any tips for waterproofing a leaky tail light? Definitely not the boot seal, lol.
hey eric i watch your videos all the time and they are great, i understand tools are tools they all get the job done.. but i notice alot of your cordless tools are older model's just wondering why you have not upgraded
Hi Eric, I have a 2000 Acura Integra GS with the driver side, passenger side, AND hatch not working. No sounds or clicks but they all work manually with the key. I bought it used and it has never worked. Do you have a video on how to diagnose that? Thanks!
The better ones need to be taken care of. If you want to butcher one, get an LS. If you want a really nice car for almost nothing, get a GS. For performance get a GSR or a Type R.
I haven't seen a ETCG repair video in such awhile this feels so different. I'm not trying to diss here just saying. Like the videos keep em up ! (If you notice my picture I'm wearing a shirt I bought at a costume store it says "Lube Technician" LOL)
This actuator looks like it's quite servicable - at least it's got some screws on the outside. So take a look inside? Maybe it's something that you can fix by yourself without having to buy a new part, like the rear window motors of Barbara's van?
hey Eric, my actuator seems like it works but the connection that pulls the opener doesn’t move at all, i can hear the actuator electronically moving, just no open, any insight would help
Hey eric i was wondering what i would do if it was the switch that is bad? Because when i move my switch, it gets stuck on each side and i have to manually move it back to its original position. I do not hear any clicking when i do move the switch.
Hi Eric, Would you have any tips for taking off the interior door panel whilst the door is locked shut? I'm having a terrible time with mine!! No clue how to get that panel off without but hinge the door panel! Is it doable mr Honda guru??
You need to take the seats out. If you still can't get it open you'll need to take it to a body shop because the latch will have to be destroyed which will require some body work afterward.
01 integra gsr here. the issue i'm having is that when I hit the acuator switch I hear a WWwrrrrrrrrr.... noise when I hold the switch down and nothing happens. hatch opens fine with the key though. Should I replace the actuator or is that unrelated to my issue?
I have this problem on my 01 LS and I have 12 volts at the connector just like you showed but I replaced the actuator and it still doesn’t work, any thoughts?
Hey eric I doubt you'll see this but I'm looking for those cargo clips. Was this a standard option? If so was it only in the gsr or ls? I cant find them anywhere
Where can I buy replacement clips like that? The cholo that had my teg before me gutted the trunk and just ripped out the clips, so the panel is just sitting there without clips holding it in. Also, all the material in the trunk was gutted, any good ways to buy and replace the previous trunk floor mat thing? and also maybe padding for the backs of my seats too? They're exposed metal on the back :(
So my switch doesn't seem to make a noise and there is no voltage at the connector. Am I to believe I just need a find a new switch or could there be a fuse or something else I should troubleshoot?
hey bro I got a 98 GS Integra with an inop cruise control, do you have any trouble shooting suggestions? I have checked all the fuses and the main switch lights up and turns off, also I have new pedal pads installed.
I had a different problem with a plastic inside was broken and the 2005 odyssey had the same one for its doors so I just swap the plastic over and it works like new
@ericthecarguy I have the same problem, although the key mechanism insert area was shaved. Also the hatch lift support struts are blown. Beside all that my battery was relocated to the trunk & I have a subwoofer and amp installed. I can remove the subwoofer and amp disconnect the battery and all. Would I be able to have any access so that I can at least get the hatch open to make the repair?
Sweet was wondering what that part is called and its functionality . So does that mean it can be open at anytime ? Like what if I connect it and everything worked fine would people be able to break in my car that way ? Lmk
I just came back for an update, my trunk actuator started to act up again, but it wasn’t that it was the trunk lock assembly, apparently there is a motor inside of that as well that goes bad and if that doesn’t unlock the mechanism fully, it won’t send power to the relay and actuator to open the trunk.. I swapped the motor out for another one from a parted Teg and it worked like a charm .
I know this is off topic but I'm having a little problem with my transmission it will not go in reverse from drive it goes in. just fine when I get in and go from park to reverse but after I drive and I need to go to reverse it won't go any ideas

Thank you for that.

My brother's integra had the exact same problem! Thanks Eric for the great videos! More GSR videos, please!
Thank you so much. I've spent weeks searching for a new actuator and your video has been literally the only helpful thing so far
This video was exactly what I needed. I had the exact same problem and was able to fix it easily with your help.
Thanks for doing some videos about simple things like this. I enjoy the more complicated stuff too, but from a guy who is likely never going to try to rebuild an engine, I enjoy some of these simpler vides too :D
