Gato Performance is a specialist in fabrication for high performance intakes, manifolds, etc. The mechanic for this specific car now is Kilo Racing, who is a very well known rotary engine builder in the Central Florida area.
Depends on how familiar you are with how to do the setup. It costs about the same as getting a 4 cylinder turbocharged car into the 8s, if not a bit less. And yes, you are correct, this particular rx7 is running a 13B with a large turbo.
I had a tricked Rx2 back in '88-89... That Rx7..whew.. i thot the Rx tree'd the V8 but it looks like he jus hole shotted em real good.. V8 was right on em tho but just didnt measure in the end. I love rotarys, dont hate 8's either tho
Ok cool, thanks for the info. I know i always see Gato on all the cars out there. I know how much it cost to build an 8 second piston motor, about how much roughly does it take to get one of these rotarys to get down in the 8's? Im guessing this is a 13B with a big turbo?
Rotary power all the way.

Yeah they are quick. I would love to build a mild rotary for a buggy or something. They sound so sick!
Ahh the Mazda RX-7. Rolling proof that there are many replacements for displacement.
Rotory: I'm stealth under hood, hold this L.
bro ..bro. bro that rx7 is ridiculously fast
If I remember correctly, it was around 7.70... Fast car for sure. Is Gato Performance the main rotary builder in the central florida area?

What was the time on the rx7? My friend was the previous owner of the machine haha.
Look at that v8 vs 1300cc.small and faster.tune a rotary good and you have a monster.
Wankel power
Even my stock 87 gxl gave alot of other vehicles a good run
