Bette Midler presents Pink with HRC's Ally for Equality Award

- At the Human Rights Campaign's National Dinner, held Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010 at the Washington, DC Convention Center, the legendary Bette Midler presented pop star Pink with the organization's Ally for Equality Award. Introducing Pink, Midler said, "Wherever she appears, Pink expresses her point of view -- one of fairness, kindness, tolerance and equality. She sets an example for all of us knowing that none of us are human until each and every one of us is recognized fully as a human being."
"We all want to be loved, accepted and understood -- and unfortunately the human race hasn't figured this out yet," Pink said in her acceptance speech. "But that's where we thank the HRC for helping us along."

Damn well deserved. I meet Pink at the LAX and she was so patient and sweet to her fans. When she gave me her autograph she asked about my cast on my left arm and how it happened and how was I recovering. She told me to take care of myself "...cause nobody takes care of you better than you hon. " So few artist today are as real and true to there talent and where they want to take it as PINK. She's gutsy, she's courageous, she's honest and true to every gorgeous note she sings. Pinks voice is a shark tooth wrapped in silk and triple dipped in honey !!! Pink not only wears her heart on her sleeve when she sings; Pink puts her blood and guts on the stage at every single performance and recording session. She's F'ing awesome and legend in the making as we speak and breath. Bless Pink !

Is it me or does P!nk just get better and better with everything she does? Over the years as I have watched her grow as an artist, I've been dumbstruck time and again at her ever growing radiating power just as a human being. I LOVE what she stands for, and has since day one... since her first album. I love what she champions; love, acceptance, compassion, empathy, harmony, fun, joy, light. She is my hero, she continues to up the ante with every rung of the ladder of success she climbs, bringing more attention to who she is and what she has to say and what she champions. And never lost is how amazing her lyrics and how infectious her music is. How does she do it? I don't know, but I do know I am hanging on every word and every note that she puts out! You go P!nk, you keep on doing what you're doing, how you're doing it! It's amazing to see!

Nothing get's better to me than having two very strong, gutsy, sassy women that I admire from two different generations being humble enough to mutually admire one another standing up for a cause and telling it how it is in their own words swear words and all.

We do not ask artists to be intelligent, hopefully. But when you see such a great, inspiring and clever speech as hers, you're just falling more and more into love with the human being she is. She's probably the only true artist with such success and recognition, all the others are modeled by marketing or what the society wants.

My parents were always ready for whatever. They always loved me and respected me. They fought with me through my gay/ bi/ straight/, and then gay again. Phases. I am now a proud bi woman. Sadly, my mother died from ALS. I luckily have the best father EVER. Please understand that is my adult life. My childhood wasn't that great. They changed because of me. There is always room for change in ANY human. Much love to EVERYONE!

Pink's speech made me cry. I'm so happy and proud that we have this wonderful woman in this world. I love her for fighting for equal rights, especially for gay people and of course also for her amazing music. I hope that this speech opens the eyes of many people who are still against gay people or marriage. It has to change.
