I like the fact that you did an exterior walk-around, which really gives you an appreciation for just how much deterioration has taken place. Speaking as someone with a background in building maintenance, the first thing to go in a dying mall is the budget for upkeep, particularly the roof and skylight maintenance.

I agree. If you haven't seen my updated video of this mall, check it out. The ceiling collapsed in the old Macy's last year due to water damage and they now have it posted as unfit for human habitation. Thanks for watching!

I spent my childhood here. I remember how excited I was when the movie theater opened up when I was in middle school. So many good memories. There was even a pet store there in the 90s!

I don't remember the pet store, but I didn't start going to the mall until probably the late 90's. I definitely used to go to the movie theater there all the time. I doubt the theater will last much longer.

I’ve been trying to figure out with some friends some of the stores that used to be here during early to mid 90’s. Primarily what was across from the Ruby Tuesday. I spent a lot of time here in the 90’s to early 2000’s. Nino’s pizza and Friendly’s were always a fun spot for kids to go. Also the Tilt. If you can remember what was across from Ruby Tuesday before Panera, that would be awesome!

They just closed the theater on Thursday, and the rest of the mall is most likely to be closed soon and turned into a strip mall like they are doing to the east field mall in Springfield.

Ugh I grew up in Enfield, we did all our back-to-school clothes shopping there at Limited Too and Aeropostle, we got our ears pierced at that Claire's, took our picture with Santa at Christmas, got all our appliances at JCPenny (or maybe it was Sears?), etc. When I was a teen we used to go to the movies there on Friday and Saturday night, get pizza, walk around. Really hurts my heart to see it so empty and dead. I went the last time I was in the area like 5 or 6 years ago and it wasn't this bad :(

There was a store called 42nd Street where i got all my beanie babies in the 90s, it's where bath & body works is now i think. This mall breaks my heart, owners don't care. I also worked at gamestop for several years, and we merged with the EB Games that had closed so we had too much staff. We had midnight launches for resident evil 5 and left 4 dead that would wrap all around the mall.
    Days were good.

Wow...when I lived in Enfield (1973-1980) there were no Ruby Tuesday or Panera Bread there. Steiger's and G. Fox were based in Connecticut anyway, so it makes sense that they were anchor stores. This mall and the Suburban Mall on Hazard Avenue were the two malls in town, but there was a shopping center on Elm Street across from the front entrance to Enfield Square; it had a McDonald's, Pumpernickel Pub and another restaurant that was at various times an Arthur Teacher's and a Kenny Rogers' Roasters. At the time we came to Enfield from Brockton MA, there was another plaza on the same side of Elm as Enfield Square but it had a Shop Rite, a Zayre's store, a Pizza Hut and a Bonanza Steakhouse, and right behind that was a stretch of woods, then Kosciuszko Jr. High School where I attended 8th & 9th grade.

WOW! This malls actually got an exterior haunted vibe. I can’t believe it’s actually still open to the public. I mean it’s all still very well preserved like the ruby Tuesday’s wood paneling is still it nice shape. Honestly why would they need to be paying security for this place. I don’t think that’s normal to have a church inside a mall, I’ve never seen that. I’m gonna have to look up how bath & body manages to survive these apocalyptic times. Claire’s is another one that I’ve seen in Alota dead malls, like the liberty tree mall in Danvers. That’s gotta suck tho having to work there while everything else is just gone, I was a manager at a Claire’s in my early 20s, & it sucked when the mall wasn’t dead.

Nice guy, but we didn't get to talk for long because other shoppers began to recognize him, so that was pretty much that. I didn't even get a chance to get his autograph because he got kinda mobbed.

Nice video. When Macy's closed in 2016, I was able to get to the second floor which was unused for retail space, but at one time was the second floor of GFox/Filenes. There was an escalator still in place, all covered in drywall and plywood. There was also a lunch counter upstairs. Much of the original signs for the various departments were still in place upstairs. I have pictures. Wish you could post picture comments here.

Target loves to leach onto a dying mall, placing it squarely in the grim reaper category. What usually happens is the mall that Target leaches onto gets demolished and the Target is left standing with I would imaging a sweetheart deal from the community and/or re-developers for having located there.
