Do not repeat the experiments shown in this video! - Наука та технологія
Molybdenum is a crucial element of life. In humans, there are over 60 Molybdenum enzymes in the human body. Humans also have Tungsten substituted for Molybdenum in similar enzymes that work in concert together. In the sea, a vast number of organisms depend on one or both of these metals whereas a deficiency of either usually has lethal consequences for simple sea life.
This has been a problem in the adaptation certain types of specialized sea bacteria into freshwater lakes in California as the sea contains massive amounts of trace minerals. In humans Molybdenum levels are highest in the liver, kidneys and adrenals. While a deficiency of molybdenum is rare in humans, excessive copper intake can cause it.
My New Year's Resolution to stop eating pennies is already paying off!
That was neat! Thanks
That is true. Molybdenum is even supposed to be related to life formation, that may have begun on Mars (and then delivered to Earth via meteorites). This has to do with Mo-S clusters, but also Fe-S clusters. Similar clusters may have been derived from some Fe-S minerals, like greigite.
so drinking water that comes from copper pipes overtime can be very bad?
Sounds like heavy metal poisoning
Is it our favorite chemist? - Hell yeah!
Hard to pick between him and Sir Martin Polliakov.
Molybdate anion is a good test for dissolved silica in the form of metasilicate or silicic acid, and will detect a few parts per million of it. To a solution of silicate, add some ammonium molybdate solution followed by dilute acetic acid in excess. Over several minutes, a yellow colour will develop, which is a complex anion of silicon-molybdate or molybdo-silicate. The strength of the yellow colour can be measured with a spectrometer and it is a quantitative measure of silica if run with a standard. Now add some crystals of hydroquinone, and the solution turns a beautiful blue.
Molybdenum Disulfide is my go-to lubricant for metal to metal contact applications, especially when high heat is involved. MD actually bonds to the metal and creates a nearly frictionless surface. I was having trouble with the sleeve bearings in the motors of the exhaust fans of my furnaces. I mixed some MD with some very light oil and let it wick into the bearings. They now run very smooth, very quiet and haven’t given me any problems for years. I have used it when assembling R/C aircraft engines and other high speed/high heat applications. It’s amazing stuff and I can’t say enough about it. It can be added to oil, grease or applied directly. You can even use a solvent, such as isopropyl alcohol, if you want it ‘carried’ into a close metal to metal application, and only leave the MD behind. It’s expensive in powder form, but just a little goes a very long way. (I have a one pound container, I’ve used it for over 25 years and I’m nowhere close to using it up.) It looks a lot like graphite, but has a much lower friction coefficient. Also, wear gloves while using it. The particle size is so small, that it will actually penetrate and bond to your skin, leaving stains that won’t readily wash off.
I wish that I had a spare automotive engine to test it on. I would just add it to the oil and let it coat everything. My only concern, even though the particle size is very small, is that it might clog the oil filter. I suppose that I could let it run for a short while, change the oil filter and see how that works. It would be an interesting experiment to try. Does anybody live in northern Illinois USA, have a spare low-mileage engine and want to try this? We could take all sorts of measurements, treat the engine with MD and then repeat all of the measurements. It would make for a great video! We could even create an engine additive, give it a cool name like ‘Slick As Fuck’, sell it in stores and make a fortune. LOL :-)
I'm sorry, but Liquimoly beat you to it with their MoS2 engine oils and additives, lol. At least I found your favourite motor oil and you won't have to worry about it clogging up your filters.
I fucking love molly. It's so useful, I also have used the same tub for a long time, about 10 years for me.

Good golly, miss Molly! 😀
"Molyslip" has been around for ages, and if I recall, NEVER use it on too low mileage an engine, as it can tighten the tolerances, so any possible high spots must have been worn in first.
The spray is used in gun magazines...
when I had seen your channel. a few years ago it was small but now you have almost every element on it I'm so proud lol
I wish you had talked about the importance of Molybdenum in WWI. The mining of Mo in the United States by German spies allowed the production of superior artillery like Big Bertha. Mo gives steel a higher thermal resistance allowing for the increase in shell sizes.
It is also used as catalytic promoter in Haber's Process during production of NH3
U r really awesome ... Thank you Soo much for these videos... U helped me Soo much in exams ... Thank you bro... Ur idea of making videos on elements is awesome.. please keeps on doing ...
Merry Christmas Mr. Thoisoi2!.....and thanks for your videos....love them all....
Perhaps my comrade can do a video on Moscovium (Mc)
Your accent makes the english very clear, rendering the caption control or the subtitle useless:) Great job!
As usual, an excellent description.
I just wish these videos were much longer and dezcribed slower.
Obviously the proper name for the black colored form is chemical X. Drink it and you'll become a powerpuff girl
(disclaimer to reader, dont actually do this. I trust most of you wont or cant, but to those who can and think this is a good idea, dont.)
It's a damn shame that a disclaimer is needed. That speaks volumes about the world today.
Great video as always!
Can you do a tour of your lab ? I’d be very interested in that. Yours sincerely
By the way, this video was very cool.👍
Congratulations for 500k subs!!! 🎉🎉😉🥇💪🏼👑
Good thing I kept that receipt for the Molybdenum tank I bought last week!
Honestly these are my favourite videos
With low speed deformation, Molybdenum is quite ductile and malleable. I can bend or extend Mo easily but not a case in W. It's another story in high speed impact, though.
Top ten youtube channel for sure. For my science fix, I hit up this channel and Ridddle. Both are my go to's.
Very informative. Thanks!
Look up the movie THE BROTHERS O'TOOLE with John Astin. The gold miners thought they were broke because there was no gold in their claims, only Molly-be-damn.
1:22 - units mismatch
Pure Mo metal has high hardness and is brittle (like Chromium) making it unsuitable for most applications. However its widely used as alloying element with Nickel/Iron/Cobalt bases.
Excellent video.
Really really love your content ♥️♥️👌🏾
Everytime I heard the word molybdenum, I remembered Adam Savage's fondness of his Moly-Dee Tapping Liquid
Great video. Keep it up!
Very nice video!
The kitty is so totes adorbs!
From which website did you get the electrode potential table from.
can we separate or study about the different molybdenum compounds of different oxidation state in the complex black solution using chromatography?
I love your kitty!
I didn’t expect you to be playing with a cation in the end of this video. I almost went catatonic. 😄
I know this element Mo is in my materials we buy and machine. That is all I know so lets listen and learn what it is also used for and why? Thank you for the videos they are very educational to us. Same colors through heat like we get in our experience with titanium. Like the Molybdenum blue color a lot.
Very cool! Interesting how it peels off in layers when shot - i guess it's splitting at the crystal boundaries
It is a crystal lattice.
Molybdenum is also good in refining because of its ability to help resist HTHA (High Temperature Hydrogen Attack) that can destroy regular carbon steel over time.
The thumbnail tho!
Sure gave a new meaning to the term “chrome Moly,” not just for welding anymore. Now I know why it’s in my vitamins, and excavator grease too!
Thank you 💓
Hats off to you bro!
As an expert on Molybdenum Tetrachloryde stuff, i have to admit i have no clue what you're talking about but it sounds awesome
Hey! So I'm actually in a quest to find a way to titrate a Molybdate solution to find the concentration of Molybdenum ions in solution. Would you have a suggestion or a clue to continue searching?
@@nora_adora nope🖐😁
Greetings, Mr.Maxim Bilovitskiy what a fascinating video of yours indeed Molybdenum is a weird Element, and watching it form solutions was interesting and mind-blowing, and watching the video was fascinating fulfilled with needed information about the Element, keep up the good work Best of Luck.
Note:
I would like to know what camera are you using to film your videos because I opened my channel back when I was 12yrs old teaching chemistry but until now I don't know what type of camera to use but after watching your videos iv decided to get one like yours if you don't mind would you inform me what type of camera are you using.
Thank you From: ( AP Chemistry course)
Thanks for the video! I had no idea Molybdenum had any biological role. I wonder what are dietary sources of Mo...
Tomatoes are a good source -- perhaps this is why pizza and beer are said to go so well together 😄
I would like add that molybdenum is the most radioisotope used in the nuclear medicine. Its produce in experimental nuclear reactors through the uranium fission
I like zhe video. You are better zhan most of other you tuberz.
Molybdenum wire is highly strong. A fine wire is used to remove screens from digitizers on phones.
Very thin and strong wire. Scary Dangerous even.
There isn't much between the molybdenum complex shown and some copper oxidation states. Would be interesting to see how the electronic splitting occurs
very good. thank you.
Hi sir I want to know about the chemical name which can Auto Fire the matchstick please help me sir
The way Tolstoy, mashes through the English language during his 20 minute speech. Is enough destruction to stop the advancement of science at one sitting. I can still hear him grinding away, even after the video has stopped! He truly is the painful Russian!
I work with this metal in manufacturing metal catalysts for oil refining. It's never the sole metal used in catalysts to which we add other metals with it. The two metals that's used with this is either Nickel or Cobalt. (NiMo) or (CoMo).
I bought a bag of tungsten disulfide sulfide powder online and saw complaints that it was Molybdenum instead. How can I test to see which it is? Thanks
The molybdopterin moiety is also a crucial component of aldehyde oxidase, the second and final enzyme involved in ethanol metabolism.
I like your cat at the end of the video.
i gotta say though, my molybdenum vanadium screwdriver is the best one ive ever had
Anyone else imagine Borat while listening to this guy's voice..?
Let's start new "MoO2 - Moo Too" movement. :D
Love the cat!
Interesting!
It's been 30 min and still 360p, oh well, time to go back to the dark ages for 6 min because it's not the graphics that matter.
I want to make Molybdenum in solid phase by experimental please help me for some solutions
Could you make a video about Rhodium
Well I am not a molybdenum specialist, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Select last night
What's the kitty cat's name? Tuxedos are my favorite. I had two: Pepper and Bandit. I miss them.
veranet99 weird flex but ok
Is it safe to touch?
exfoliated Molybdenum Disulfide is a well-known alternative to graphene in electronic devices
Hay can you do a video on metallic glass please
oh the clip of your cat at the end was truly the cherry on top of this delight, hahaha
Used in chrome-colbalt-nickel dental alloys. Always heard it was bad to breath.... To be fair, still looking for that metal which is breathable
Is that why the emoticon on the thumbnail pic looks like it's going "holy moly" ?? :P
Can you make a video about Moscovium,Mc?
What will happen when you run out of stuff on the periodic table?
Súper
Thumbs up for the cat at the end 🙂
4:53 "lubricant"
Shows a can of de-ruster
This: Lubricant MoS2 - Odrdzewiacz MoS2?
"the addition of MoS2 makes the metal surface lubricated and permanently protected."

Could you make a video about thorium now pls
2MoO3 * cow: "Moo moo moo" "Moo moo moo"
Molybdenum is NAICE!!
In Mother Russia, we use Makarov 9mm Hardness Test. Wery effectiwve!
may you add subtitles please, thank you
I have 2 kg of molybdenum 97%
I love this metal
nobody gives a shit
@Womb Raider pis filth
Why?
Mo is used as addictive in growing corals.
it would be funny if fps Russia had a second channel like thosi
Nice 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
Mo extraction video(animation) i need plzzzz give that
Μόλυβδος ~ Ελληνική λέξη ( Greek Word )
Molybdenum foil ionocraft?
Hey pal can we know your profession?
Thank
What happens to Mo when it is burned?
Make a video about hafnium please
I like molybdenum in my motor oil.
make video about thorium
Cool
Here's a question that should end a huge amount of speculation:
What's molybdenum's atomic number?
I expert opinion would say
*Don't mess with it*
How to make mo at home
Subtitule?
Yall should look up wulfenite
Finally!
