The black rattling in the jaws is pure agony. The same thing happened when I went for my all time highest break of 8.
Me too!
It didn't even rattle the jaws, for a professional snooker player he missed by an absolute mile. Just shows what pressure can do!
😂😂Ha ha me too..
You were thinking about the maximum too early
I think Ken still dreams of that black.
hahhhaaahaha i think so
no doubt
Has nightmares*
I met him at Castleforbes. The first thing I thought about asking him was about this but I managed not too.
Now F1 dreams together.
One Dislike ? Ken, is it you ? ;-)
He hasn't aged he still looks the same
Johnno1 ... was just thinking the same thing there as I watch the 2024 World Masters with Ken on commentary.
Oh Ken! Listen to the crowd at 1:45, they go from close to euphoria to absolute despair!
As an amateur when we snatch or tense up, imagine a professional who practices 7-8 hours a day and still snatches. This is what makes this game beautiful
I blame the 240p pixel heavy conditions that Ken is playing under. Ken Doh!-erty
"Ken was smiling"
Err... no he wasn't
Most painful shot in history can hardly watch
Nah most painfull shot is Jimmy White's black in the final against Stephen Hendry 17-17 in frames ...Boy was I happy that im a Hendry Fan..😅😅
@@stefanhammel192 Jimmy was the best player to never win it
One of the great 147 jitters.
I remember this one well. Nightmare
Stevens face is absolutely brilliant
Thanks
Amazing thing what pressure can do. I expect he was thinking about how terrible it would be if he were to miss that black while he was on the shot
Does Ken ever age? He looks the same now in 2020.
The real question is did he not push the cue through correctly or did he just line up to the shot incorrectly?
The nervousness was amplified as back then the 147 price was £147k.
Is this worse or the black Jimmy missed in '94 which should have resulted in him being world champion?! Both are OUCH material.
Jimmy's was worse cos it cost him a world title.
This one only cost Doherty a Honda! 😂
soooo close to winning that Honda NSX!
He said he didn't like the yellow anyway. Preferred the red. One of the great characters on and off the beige
@@markwalkingmachine4298 Fair enough, but he did miss out on getting the prize money for the highest break - the good old days, loved watching him play!
At the time, I swear everyone talked about that missed black for months.
As annoying as this must have been, it's still more iconic than nearly all of the successful maximums.
wow matthew stevens is so shocked he looks even more gormless than usual!
😂😂
Hahahaahha
He snatched it with too much pressure
1 black for 1 supercar
People have been teasing Ken ever since
Lined up wrong for me.
The green to brown to blue were very tricky shots, and it’s the easy black he misses
The reaction of the crowd and Stevens made it more dramatic
He didn't have the luck o the Irish
How?
what a CHOKER!
Ooooooh and that's a bad miss!!!
If the prize-money was £3000 Ken wouldn't have missed it.
Hey Samuel I was at this match and there was an 80000 quid supercar (Honda I think) in the lobby for whoever made a 147. Maybe why he missed?!
@@johngrayer7773 Apparently he was trying to work out how he'd get it back to Ireland 😂
Yeah well, getting a 147 is not as easy as Ronnie O'Sullivan makes it look.
Green and brown showed greaat bottle as well
Wonder if he wakes up screaming at memory of that black.
Was this the 1997 finale
No
doherty the choker
What car would he have won?
Honda NSX I think
Biege Mark 1 fiesta.
Wembley conference centre had the best atmosphere in snooker
Hendry wouldn't miss it
hendry missed easy blacks for the win before
@@FearOfTheTrooper don't recall and easy black and this certainly not a black off the spot for the 147.
Too true, Henry would've potted it, and the table would have thanked him for the opportunity.
I can do it too but i missed the first red🤣
Technically you still have chance if your opponent can't pot any
This hurt to watch aha
He got yellow and green was soo hard.... Can't believe it. If he rolls it in may trickle in off the jaw..but, image the adrenaline
Ouch
That cost him a car...ouch...
It cost him £147k.
@@NH-tv3jr I thought that was for the Worlds only...
@@OtakuLogan2017 You're correct my mistake, but I'm almost certain it was 100k for a 147 at the masters back then. Enough to make the eyes wobble on that black!
Right I'm wrong again, just watched the whole break! It was 19k prize money plus an 80k Honda NSX.
Ken Doh!erty
Bottler! The black was the easiest pot of the break!
That Taylor is very hard to listen to.
blew 147k pounds
He was nervous with 80000 pounds
He took too long and jabbed at the black with movement on the shot! If the pressure it's you and you think about it too much you will simply miss every shot
Ok sherlock
maybe it was a one time chance to miss the black knowing it will always be mentioned in history as the first on screen 147 final black ever to be missed, if however it happens again
And that was the moment he pledged to become a wet weekend in the commentary box for evermore
In fairness its a horrible shot to play
Bottled it
Melt
Bottle job
I could of potted that
I could have got the grammar right on that
No you couldent
Matthew Stevens showing why he never won the tournaments his talent deserved. He is way too nice. He should not care whether his opponent gets a 147 or not.
That's a ridiculous comment.
Virtually every professional in the game would have reacted the same way. Doherty is a likeable bloke and no one would have wanted him to miss the black.
ULTIMATE
FUCK UP
Where is
FAILARMY???????
Bottler
He won the World Championship so he couldn't have been that much of a bottler.
God its always the thick irish man that this happens to
Not as thick as you
That's what you call an anticlimax.
