Ive noticed modern laptops dont often beep, but flash the power led in a sequence, and they usually can be looked up on the manufacturers web site. I have a room of Desktops at work, 25 or so, and each morning between 3 and 5 dont power on, its started about 2yrs ago, with one at a time, and became more as the months passed. no screen activity, can here the fans spinning, and that it. removed the PC from the room, and plugged it in somewhere else, and it worked fine, take it back to the room, worked fine, then the next day, a different 3 - 5 PCs do the same thing, at first we were checking hardware, as this video shows, and swapping out PSU's but in the end, it seems that that part of the building cannot support the electrical needs of the entire building, it is a very old build, and they are now looking at upgrades, but in the mean time, I setup GPO's to prevent users from powering off the PC's on a night, all they are allowed to do is restart. worse yet, I even had it happen in the room, when trouble shooting software, and the restart didnt come back on, just black screen.. doncha just love IT.
Thanks for info about the laptop. We need to start adding more information about laptop in our videos as we tend to just cover desktops. You have an interesting problem with that computer lab. It makes it hard when you have an old building with power problems like that. You could put a power monitor to get a measure of the power draw. Maybe that would help to give to your manager to help justify getting and upgrade.
