They would appear emotionless, and even to themselves they often feel wrong, like they know something's wrong with them. Typically with emotional numbness, all their emotions turn into one big emotion, making it so the slightest annoyance could send them into a screaming rage and end in tears, while they might get a huge surprise that would normally have them overjoyed, and only smile a bit. As someone who has experienced emotional numbness and still goes in and out of it, it's really not fun. It’s real being emotionless usually happens after an emotional shock. You may have become this way just to protect yourself and to stay away from further trauma. The lack of emotions could come up when you have had enough of something and being emotionless is just a defence mechanism. But then there’s also „Schizoid personality disorder“ where you’re also pretty much emotionless
Being emotionless doesnt mean you dont show emotions, you just cant feel it anymore. you dont forget what emotions feel like, so you just live life on autopilot, but no one will notice because you wont act any different. You can still cry, because you dont cry because you are sad. and you will feel pain. but you wont care if you feel pain at all. You will lose all love towards people but still pretend to care, you will feel everything, every emotion, just you make it deep inside your thoughts so you feel like you lost your emotions.
