I will go through Ordeal in September. As a Scout I was called out but was never given any information about Ordeal so I missed my chance. As an Adult Leader, I have always wished to be a part of such a great brotherhood. I love these OA videos because I want to be the best Advisor I can be.
Looking into a bunch of OA stuff now that it’s been about 9 months since I’ve gotten my brotherhood. I have been out of the loop on the OA for about 6 months now and was recently called upon to help at the upcoming ordeal. Thanks for all the info!
Having been among the earliest "Nimats" or Brotherhood Warriors some fifty years ago; we were responsible for conveying this info to the Brotherhood Candidate required in what we called then "the Statement of Rededication". The specifics were delineated in the OAHB. As with everything in Scouting the candidate was expected to do "no more; no less" than what was delineated. Is that still National OA Policy? The Brotherhood Warrior also provided instruction in the Brotherhood Questionnaire, OA Official Song , and Admonition. Is that still a part of the induction sequence?
I think a lot of the terms used have changed. Keep in mind that the Inductions Team is in charge of the Brotherhood process even though the Ordeal members are already a part of the Lodge. I do not believe that anything has changed with National Policies. I believe that all parts of the induction process are the same now as in the past. I know that the brotherhood ceremony changed a few years back however, the core principles remain. Thank you so much for your questions. YIB🔺
Scouter Stan I'm going for my brotherhood tonight and I'm very nervous I was given several pages what to study and I'm trying to find videos online to help me learn it better because I learn better by listening and watching than reading it in a book. Unfortunately the person that promised to help backed out. Why is some information that will help scouters & scouts in their journey in OA?
I have done many videos about the OA journey. Here is the link to the playlist. ua-cam.com/play/PLlP1tCTA5P8wgb4ueQ6Nm4A7KZHF9_sR6.html Always keep in mind that this is a public forum so we do not go into great detail “to observe and preserve the traditions” of the order. If you have general questions that can be answered in a video please suggest it here. Thanks YIB🔺
Hey Stan great video is always, writing this message life at camp sinoquipe scout reservations in Southern PA, having a blast this week and so are the kids
Do you have any videos about OA High Adventure? I recently did the OA Summit Experience and I think that it’s an opportunity that should be shared with as many people as possible to help build the program
I agree with your suggestion. Last year we did a video on Order the Arrow High Adventure ua-cam.com/video/Qc6YdvMdJEk/v-deo.html It's an overview of all the high adventure offerings. YIS⚜
Hello Scouter Stan I have a very nervous question to ask you do I have to actually speak all the requirements for brotherhood in font of a group of people because speaking and singing in front of people gets me nervous a lot.Thats why I did public speaking merit badge virtually.
The obligation that we learn in the Order of the Arrow is lengthy and written by many committees over many years. This makes it awkward, clunky, and difficult to remember. Everyone knows that the obligation is better spoken in a group because not everyone can have it committed to memory. In my opinion, it's more important to know what it means than to have it memorized. I'm sure that if you talked with some of the counselors about your apprehension to public speaking, they can make sure that you can fulfill the requirement without embarrassment or being singled out in any way. Everything in Scouting is a safe place. This creates an environment where scouts can flourish to their highest potential. I hope this helps ease your fear of taking on the Brotherhood. YIS⚜
Hi! I’m an Ordeal member but due to a number of reasons (including COVID) I became inactive in my lodge. I’m now 20 and I want to get reinvolved, do you think I would be able to become active again and try for my Brotherhood?
Absolutely! It's never too late to get reinvolved and pursue your Brotherhood. Reach out to your lodge and express your interest, they'll be happy to have you back! YIB🔺
Congratulations on your election into the Order of the Arrow. The Ordeal is the first part of membership. Think of Brotherhood as the completion of the membership process. YIS⚜
I went and sealed my membership this past weekend and I made the letter harder than it should be. I went back took a breathe and wrote my letter
