Thank you for supporting our hospice. Annabelle is three years old and has Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA Type 1).
When Annabelle was only six months, mum Michelle, noticed that she stopped reaching and kicking her legs. After multiple trips to the doctors, Annabelle became severely ill and was admitted to hospital.
Haven House has has been crucial in providing Annabelle with regular sessions physiotherapy sessions to help improve her movement together with hospice at home visits, play and music therapy.

An amazing, beautiful little girl
I had a friend with SMA who was born in 1954 and passed away in 2006. Her parents were told she’d live to be six. She became a lawyer and served on the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities. If someone had a respiratory illness/infection, he or she couldn’t be around her until it cleared or was on an antibiotic for two days. I’d make sure I was on the antibiotic for three days to err on the side of caution.
She’s so darn cute!
I think there’s something to Ohio and children who are given a short life expectancy but go on to live decades past that. I worked with a woman who was adopted by parents who were married for 20 years before they got to adopt their daughter. She had San Filippo syndrome. She was hitting mile stones until age two and then she started regressing. The doctors told her mother she’d live to be 10 maybe into her teens. She lived to be in her 40s. Which if You know about SF, that is extraordinary
That is amazing. I follow a influencer name Shane Burcaw. He also has SMA. He is 30years old and happily married to a beautiful person named Hannah.

there is treatment for SMA now. It is the #1 genetic cause of death with newborns yet most of us have never heard of it until it hits close to home.
she looks like my 4yr old granddaughter.Beautiful.
I had a friend that had the exact same SMA Type 1and he lived to be 70 years old.

@@lindaplank5972yes but then low grade people are everywhere.Terminated? This wonderful child? She has wonderful parents and she’s living life on her own terms. No one gets to decide whether a child’s life is worth living not even the parents. Annabelle is an addition to this world not a burden. God bless you little girl.
