2:54 I think the military are jealous and want something like that by trading hummers with this beast of a tank if you saw this in real life as an army vehicle on the street that was cool
DUDE that was Bandimere Speedway .. .SWEET (thunder Mountain). I loved when this car came to colorado to my job (as seen in my videos), it was cool to see it up close and personal. Still like how they used Bandimere to show off the Jet Cars (which btw if you haven't seen them also got a video on my page about one setting the track record).
@Shemassault if they're actualy getting blown off having your wheels blown off is the least of your worries as for the size to lift ratio look at the bowing 747s or the spruce goose
It does have weaponry and low level armor. It like going from a winter coat and snow pants to a wife beater and shorts. Its not much, but its something
It makes sense in The Dark Knight as it was an escape pod needed to catch the Joker, why he didn't go back to the Tumbler in The Dark Knight Rises before Bane stole them however makes little sense.
@reed04 About the down force, they say: "...uses flaps to push the vehicule down, and achieve greater velocity". So I understand down force would be a good thing for acceleration (more friction), but at slow speed, there is not enough air to create effective down force, and at 60mph, unless you have a few thousand horsepower, you won't have any wheelspinning. Then the guy with the paper says "gaining stability" and I fully agree on that, that's the narrator that's bullshitting us in the face.
all the scenes (except the rooftop jump) were filmed in real life and not film effects. Of course the jet engine was fake and only an optical effect, but the car still did perform flawless in the stunt scenes, without jet engines and the propane tanks. I am only referring to the exposed wheel design, and the wheels DID do the job perfectly.
I love the batpod but i prefer the batmobile because thats signature and basically a part of him. Joker destroyed it but he had like two more which he couldve painted black real quick and used it.
Well i just think that if a film crew can make this car in months, and still get such impressive results then a military program with better engineers and higher budget could bring it a lot further. of course a car made for a movie can't be brought straight into war, everybody knows that, but it's still a concept with potential. And by the way I am sorry, at first i didn't get that you meant impractical for military use.
I can imagine every person who first saw the Tumbler before the movie came out must have said "it looks awful/shit/rubbish" etc. That's what me and my friend said, we just didn't think it was going to fit let alone make the movie look good. I just wish i could turn back time and slap myself in the face for saying such cruel words back in the day before we saw Batman Begins. When i saw it in action in the cinema, i was like...URGH! I WANT ONE!!!!! >.< We both agreed it was epic in the very end :D
+Josh Vilar mine too and if you also had the chance to see it in person for yourself, it is an absolute thing of beauty..i dunno why but it just looks much more badass in real life..it actually reminds me of a lambo
saquist all depends on what you call "real" buddy. was the design and construction of the car actually physically real and did it actually do the stunts well? yes, it did. was the real life car exactly 100% as demonstrated in the movies? no. they had specific builds of this car that are reinforced for specific shots (like smashing through a highway divider) and jumps, but they are pretty much barebone inside. then here are the few builds of this car that are designed with the full interior for inside and close-up shots, but these cars will not smash through items. to me, that's pretty fucking real. lol
they confused down force to be effective in turns with low aerodynamic drag to achieve great velocity... More downforce=more drag=less speed. They say the exact opposite. What the fuck...

Wow, wow, wow: more maneuvrability because it's heavier? I guess that's why formula one cars are so heavy... Who's the two year's old kid who wrote that speech?
At first I'll be honest I was thrown off by the Tumble but I soon grew to love it.The 89 Batmobile and the Tumbler are the best movie batmobiles ever.
Im still jus so fascinated by this car. I wixh I could have one
I love how that thing literally flexes at 4:43 when it takes off.
2:54 I think the military are jealous and want something like that by trading hummers with this beast of a tank if you saw this in real life as an army vehicle on the street that was cool
thumbs up for original Red Batmobile from 1939! Back before it was even called the batmobile.

@MarkArandjus Thats not a scene from Batman Begins, but from The Dark Knight
I still don't get how you go from a bulletproof Humvee-inspired design to being essentially butt-naked on a motorcycle.
Because we're talking about a literal escape pod. There's obviously marketing and toys to consider, but functionally, that's all the batpod is.

@@The12thDimension. because they wanted to show off the bat lol
I wish I can drive this bad boy through NYC.
Im INTRESTED IN THE DOOR OPENING MECHANISM
Seriously, if I'm ever rich I'm buying on of these.

@Shemassault u know they made everything in the movie real life, don't u? so yes the exposed wheels can perform just as good as they show it :)
"I gotta get me one of those."

@reed04 For the weight, I misunderstood, you are right.
@8Menachi Batman sacrificed the tumblr letting it take a direct hit even a tank can go down with a well plaxed rpg
Are there any comic books of Batman that are based on Nolan's Universe? I want to see the Tumbler in the comics :(
I love the batpod but i prefer the batmobile because thats signature and basically a part of him. Joker destroyed it but he had like two more which he couldve painted black real quick and used it.

@DeathNoteFreak000 ORLY? Like I said - it wasn't in the movie.

you can mount guns on the Marauder, or get its big brother, the Mbombe.

Dear Santa....
@deductivedetective think of the price
Minor nitpick: Area 51 is Air Force. The Army has the Natick Soldier Center.

I imagine many kids thought this was absolutely real...
