Sir that was a very informative and relaxing to watch video. I appreciate you taking the time to make this video , with the cleaning process and disassembly of the helmet. The narration while doing so was spot on , well done thanks.
Hahaha! Thanks so much. I enjoyed making it. That helmet has been with me for quite a while and made quite a few trips on a plane all over the US! I was feeling pretty nostalgic about it that day, and I thought I should make a little video about it. I am glad you enjoyed it : )
This was an informative, well-organized video. Many of the questions I had regarding this hood were answered. And cleaning the hood as you discussed its features was an effective way to showcase the Speedglass 9100. Ditto to the previous comments--in spades!
I’ve used mine for about 100 or so hours of stick welding, it’s been great and it seriously has given me an advantage over people who run cheaper hoods. The quality of your welds are directly correlated to how well you can see what you’re doing, this is in my opinion the best welding hood on the market today.
I been 3 years with this helmet. 40 hrs a week... Expensive but worth it ... Only thing I been changing is batteries and sweat band to a leather one....
You could probably get away with it, but it would be a bit of a hassle. If you are doing a lot of welding in a hazardous environment the Adflo products from 3M would be the better solution.
@@Knacksmith Okay, because I am currently using a Lincoln 3350 helmet with a 3m respirator and I'm finding it a bit front heavy, adflo would be nice but it's a bit pricey and I'm just working with structural steel
My teacher told me about one of these. He said that he had one that could switch colors for the arc from green, red, and blue, but I haven't been able to find that anywhere. Anybody know what that's about?
I don't think you would be upset with either. I like the view the XX provides, that is mostly why I went with mine. Is the hours a battery life thing? If so, I wouldn't worry about the 500 hours too much. 2000 hours is about once a year.
omg no ,,, no foam cleaner on optics , its abrasive. Ive the older 9000 version , and its stood the test of time very well too , all in all a great bit of kit , Id like to try the new curved version , but they are not cheap, still quality seldom is.

Couldn't agree more. I would love to get my hands on their new one and give it a try. They want big $$$ for that thing!!
@@Knacksmith did you see they made a curved lens one? That one can’t be cheap!
@@Mikey-ym6ok I have not seen that. I agree, it will most likely cost a pretty penny for sure!!
Watching this video all the way from the Philippines! Great video you got sir. 🙌
Love it! Thanks for the nice feedback : )

Do respirators fit well with the helmet? Like the 3m ones with pancake filters?

Just grabbed one today at a garage sale. Thanks for the video.
Good work!
Damn, you got a good find! I would never part with mine
thank you for the video. you have a very relaxing voice.
That's cool you've had that for so long, things last a while if you take care of them :)
Thank you! I have become pretty attached to it over the years.

Unfortunately the side windows isn’t replaceable. I can’t seem to find any except the blinders. Anybody know where I can find the windows online?
Awesome video. Do you know if the 9100x and 9100xx lenses are interchangeable?
Not 100% sure, but I believe they are : )
which should i go for? 9100x or xx? 2500 hrs vs 2000 hrs

I am going to buy this helmet. Appreciate your great sharing and video. Peace.

But they don’t have any abrasives in glass cleaner. But I totally agree not to use chemicals on it. I don’t even clean it.
@@Mikey-ym6ok Ah yes ,, its glass cleaner ,,, I thought it was RS Foam cleaner ,,, it is great stuff , but not on optics.
@@tomthompson7400 true. The only thing I think an auto darkening manufacture recommended was only using alcohol. Probably the safest bet.
just ordered mine! i’m so excited to get it :)
Congratulations! You will most certainly enjoy it : )
👍
bit pinchy tho
What do you mean?
@@Mikey-ym6ok mine pinches hell out of my ears, maybe my ears are the problem
Get the 9100xxi instead. Way better than this model
