This compilation of Rabindra Sangeet, "Assorted Tagore Songs VOL 1" is a classic collection of Tagore Songs which comprises of some of the greatest artists of Rabindra Sangeet such as K.L.Saigal, Indulekha Ghosh, Pankaj Kumar Mullick, Rajeswari Dutta, Santidev Ghosh, Kanika Banerjee, Debabrata Biswas, Nilima Sen, Subinoy Roy, Maya Sen and Ashoketaru Banerjee.
Rabindra sangeet is the genre of Bengali Songs written and composed by the great poet Rabindranath Tagore. This particular album is the collection of some of the most popular Tagore Songs sung by some of the most popular Rabindra Sangeet artists. One of the first songs to be mentioned here is the song Ektuku Chhonwa Lagey by the legendary singer actor Mr. K. L. Saigal. This song was used in the film Parichaya released in the year 1981 directed by Satyen Bose and produced by New Theatres. Another beautiful rendition sampled in this compilation is the song Diner Sheshe Ghumer sung by none other than the great Pankaj Kumar Mullick. Pankaj Kumar Mullick was very close to Tagore himself and was a direct disciple of Tagore. Another song probably one of the most popular Tagore Song is compiled in this album which is Krishna Koli sung by the maestro Santidev Ghosh. Santidev Ghosh is one such legendary Rabindra Sangeet singer who was responsible for spreading and popularising Tagore Songs. Another jewel in this compilation would be the song Gharetey Bhramar sung by Kanika Banerjee who is herself a legend in the world of Rabindra Sangeet. This album has many legends but the one who should be mentioned is Debabrata Biswas or George Biswas. He was one of the most popular and at the same time most controversial Rabindra Sangeet artist. Because of his musically non traditional approach. His song Keno Chheye Aachho deserves a special mention. This particular song is also one of Tagore's most popular patriotic song. Overall this particular album "Assorted Tagore Songs- VOL- 1" is a collector's delight.
