In terms of design and technical ambition this is probably the most insane set piece I've ever seen in a game. It's one thing to have the player scale a pre-determined path along a crumbling building, or jump out of a plane, or what have you. It's another thing entirely to design a level this massive that constantly gives the player the sense that they can go anywhere and make their own decisions as they try to survive the chase. Absolutely astounding.
Still some of the best graphics in the business and easily the best lighting besides tlou 2, gran turismo sport, and the GOAT of video game lighting Metro Exodus enhanced edition (ps5 version with fully ray traced lighting)

Tlou 2s story was really bad and not just because of what happened but the inconsistent writing of the characters that we know so well AND the cheap tricks they use to prop up new characters. Also even within the goal of propping up new characters they were inconsistent lol

This is one reason why a give 0 fucks that Bethesda games may never see the light of day on a PlayStation platform again because Naughty Dog is our light with their high entertaining games developed with heart, dedication and attention to detail.
Naughty Dogs games just look detailed like watching a movie. Bethesda games have details down to a science to the point you forget your not actually living in their worlds.

I wish they had mentioned in the story explaining how Elena tracked him down in Madagascar. I really think in her phone conversation she trapped Nate into revealing his lie when she mentioned about the monsoon rains that were occurring in the area where his false salvage job was taking place. Nate of course goes along with the narrative and that’s when you see the expression on her face. There was no monsoon rains where he said he was. She then thinks why did he lie and goes about tracking him down probably through a credit card use trail, her network of contacts or tracking him down through the GPS in his phone.
Uncharted 4 is my favorite game of all time. I love how well you articulated some of the many reasons why it's my favorite, much better than I could haha
4 didn't have nearly enough combat. 3 had too much, 4 didn't even have half as much as it should have. That's the only thing stopping 4 from being the best game ever made
@@HugoStiglitz88 I don't think it is that far from the other games but the Orphanage, The Volcano, and The Remote Islands sections can definitely make you feel like you're exploring more than you're fighting or running. It all boils down to how much we appreciate the combat and exploration. In your case, since you enjoy the action more than the exploration, you must have felt the lack of combat even more than others.

I feel like kind of an outlier with how I don't want to be in constant combat compared to other people lol. That being said, the combat, shooting, movement is all super fluid and fun as hell in U4. The best 3rd person shooting I've played as well
I'm watching this literally after just having completed this chase sequence. I've replayed through this game four times. Very few games make me do that. Naughty Dog is the best - and as an actor, I hope to one day play a small part of any of the stories they create.

I completely agree. Uncharted 4 is one of my fav games ever, but I really felt disappointed when I got to this chase and the element of surprise was completely gone. I already knew how the chase was going to end and it was still a mindblowing experience, I just can't imagine how it would've felt if I hadn't been spoiled by the trailers. Thankfully they mostly avoided the same mistake with TLOU 2 (except for the workbench surprise moment).
The Uncharted series is the first one that really made me "feel" the action sequences. In movies they look good but I kinda just let it go through without really appreciating the detains or beats, just an overall "ok there is action going on" feeling. When in Uncharted you NEED to catch every single detail in order to keep playing and you really get into that zone in witch your brain is in Matrix mode and when it's all finished you stand there like "WTF DID I JUST WITNESS???"

Literally one game later with a controversial storyline and some clowns were already dismissing the talents at Naughty Dog, calling them a trash studio or whatever. Shows how reactionary and animalistic some of those gAmeRs are.
To be fair, the reviewers were just as bad for giving TLOU2 a perfect score just to spite the gamers who hated it. Now we are nearly two years away and can look at it objectively and you can clearly see it’s flaws at some points that were plainly not addressed and it’s positives s that were glossed over. Fault on both sides.

I've just played this for the first time recently (didn't know a 60fps version was incoming) along with the rest of the series. There is no doubting the storytelling prowess ND has, and the level design and detail is top notch... but I've actually found the on-rails chase sequences the one aspect of the series which needs work. This one in UC4 is the standout, superior to all the "towards camera" crash bandicoot style ones of before (which were terrible imo). But even with the level of finesse on show in this sequence the jeep handles like crap and the overall "gameplay" is basic. And before that causes a fanboy uproar, know that I loved this game. I can overlook minor aspects against the whole experience. But if ND brings back the series on PS5 it's things like this I think they need improve. Cinematic doesn't have to mean a restriction of gameplay and if anyone has the talent to topple this it's themselves.
ND devs are sorcerers! I'd like to see them working on a new IP. That TLoU remake rumour is an aberration that nobody asked for and I hope it's not true.
I will never beileve Rockstar honestly think gamers will be mad that the game didn't look like release ready since day one of making the game lol. Who is out here complaining that what they saw in the leaks doesn't look finished so the finished game will be shit lol. Stop this madness Rockstar doesn't suck because the people making their games had to make them and they don't look finished until they are will uh finished. Rockstar sucks because it's a toxic work environment and instead of focusing on making new games they get away with doing an online update to gta5 and coast a few more years on that. I've only owned an Xbox since 2001 and I borrowed a friend's PS4 just to play this series. Nothing on any other platform compares to Uncharted.

This game is dirty good. It's a bit too dull in some chapters, but overall, it's definitely one of the best games on the PS4.
