It's the flanderization of the character. That she can be mean doesn't mean she is mean to everyone. But since being mean is her identifying trait then she has no choice but to be mean all the time.

Well, Cosmo and Wanda still did have a more loving relationship in the earlier seasons. I'd say it was somewhere after Channel Chasers where their relationship took a dip. I know Cosmo chewed his mom out for her continued attempts to separate him from Wanda and affirms how much he loves her. And Wanda, despite drooling over Quandisimo, still outright stated how much she loved Cosmo. Cosmo: "I married the smart one!" Wanda: "I married the... well he's cute, right?" I also think Cosmo was more "dim" than outright stupid during the earlier seasons, too.
Honestly, I would have dug this character dynamic more. It would have been a cool contrast, seeing Vicky being the cartoonishly malicious babysitter to the kids in her neighborhood, but being the overprotective cool big sis to Tootie. Maybe even taking advantage of the fact that her little sister is considered annoying/creepy to the rest of the kids in her school to her advantage by using her to torture the kids she babysits by making them be friends with her. That would have been both despicable and hilarious.
It would have left room for a pretty nice alternative character interpretation. "Is Vicky really using her sister as a weapon to terrorize kids or did she just want her little sister to get friends?"
I kinda wish they'd kept the idea of Vicky being nice to Tootie. It'd be funny seeing Vicky acting all malicious and fearsome with others but then act more chill with Tootie at the same time. She could've used Tootie's crush on Timmy against him too. 😂😂
Tootie literally does not care what happens to her as long as she gets to be around timmy. Vicky could literally drop her into an old well with Timmy and she wouldn't be bothered by it.
I gotta agree with the general consensus that Vicky being nice to Tootie but the spawn of Satan with everyone else would’ve made for some interesting storylines in many episodes
Flanderization hit Vicky real bad. It would have been more interesting to see her be nice to Tootie rather than her being downright abusive. She went from a being a mean teenager to becoming the anti-christ.

The serious would've been a lot better if Vicky stayed like this tbh. Like, imagine the twist about knowing that the meanest baby sister ever is actually protective with her own little sister. Throw a little backstory of kids bullying Tootie for no reason making Vicky hate on all of them because of that.
It could also help to understand a little bit more why parents choose her as a babysitter, if kids say something about her they won't believe them "Her Little sister doesn't says the same, Timmy", instead of just ignore their complains. Just imagine the potential of some plot with Vicky dating some idiot who also hates kids until he does/says something to Tootie.

But if she was nice with Tootie and treated her like an actual sister with kindness, the all the parents would assume the kids were lying or something. An added bonus would be if she was nice to her parent's too instead of them being afraid of her, then they would also back up Vicky and say that she is a kind and wonderful daughter who would never harm a child. Honestly there was so many missed potential with her character

As much as i like 'pure evil' Vicky, the pilot version of Vicky just feels more fleshed out. She isn't mean to her sister, but is a monster to all the kids she babysits, but at the same time takes advantage of how people find her little sister annoying or creepy
Don’t underestimate the early seasons of FOP either. Season 1 of the 2001 series is a gem and has a completely different feel than most of the rest of the series. Somewhat more Down to Earth if I had to describe it.

Pilot is basically what the creators imagine the show before corporate make choices, i imagine this change went like this: Corporate: Why is vicky nice to her sister? Creator: oh well because she likes her sister, she babysits for money not because she likes to do it which is why she doesn’t like timmy Creator: oh so that makes her more humane and relatable! Yeah scratch that and make her a demon, heck lets make her abuse her parents too Creator: wh… what?
The pilot episodes had some great ideas that would have added a lot to the show. Cosmo not staying smart and pragmatic was a missed opportunity. The Fairies are supposed to represent the parts that Timmy was missing in his life, so he shouldn't act just like his Dad.
Imagine if they kept all the characters as they started out, Cosmo not being a moron, Timmy's parents genuinely caring for him, just being busy to give him the best and Vicky being protective of Tootie and not wanting Timmy's antics to harm her in any way. Too bad they flanderized them all beyond recognition
I kind of wish in the episode Boy Toy when Tootie was crying about why Timmy didn’t like her Vicky broke character, and acted like a calm sweet motherly person and gave Tootie advice and a hug like any big sister would.

As much as I hate Vicky, I do like that she used to be nicer albeit a little overprotective of her sister and was afraid of her own parents punishing her, but flanderization and seasonal rot made her a sadist that made whole family afraid of her! The show would’ve been a lot more tolerable if they kept the previous character traits from the OYC shorts and ended the show after channel chasers.

The final scene is quite interesting cause how layered it is. Vicky who's clearly protective of Tootie, see's that Timmy is sick. So instead of messing with him normally she sends her sister. He's bed ridden so he can't mess with her so she stays safe. It makes Tootie happy since she like Timmy and gets to spend time with him. He gets tortured cause he doesn't like her. All while basically giving herself a day off and showing that she's actually a really good older sister??? Being attentive of Tootie's crush and trying to make her happy with it. This Vicky is levels of smarts.
Would have added a lot more depth to Vicky's character imo instead of being a clichè evil babysitter, wasted potential I'd say. Don't get me wrong her being evil in the show will always be iconic but the dynamic of Vicky being nice to Tootie as shown here in the pilot episodes would have made for great story concepts in the actual show.

The final scene is quite interesting cause how layered it is. Vicky who's clearly protective of Tootie, see's that Timmy is sick. So instead of messing with him normally she sends her sister. He's bed ridden so he can't mess with her so she stays safe. It makes Tootie happy since she like Timmy and gets to spend time with him. He gets tortured cause he doesn't like her. All while basically giving herself a day off and showing that she's actually a really good older sister??? Being attentive of Tootie's crush and trying to make her happy with it. This Vicky is levels of smarts.
In the pilots and early season, she was just a normal teenager from timmy's pov.

Would have added a lot more depth to Vicky's character imo instead of being a clichè evil babysitter, wasted potential I'd say.
Don't get me wrong her being evil in the show will always be iconic but the dynamic of Vicky being nice to Tootie as shown here in the pilot episodes would have made for great story concepts in the actual show.
