I still cannot fathom how much work you put into this. Like playing everything in ONE take is beyond my comprehension. I really hope this video blows up someday soon.
Wow wow wow I didn’t know this video existed... how on earth have I missed this 😂 well that’s me being late to work in the morning to stay up and watch this! This channel needs more attention!👌👊
Hahaha oh no! This vid will always be here - hope your work day goes alright tomorrow :P that being said, ive definitely stayed up too late listening to DT and can't ever say I regretted it, so enjoy!!
It truly was... a nightmare to remember. Sorry, couldn't resist! It was definitely a huge undertaking, but it was a labour of love, and I'm super proud of this cover to this day. Glad you enjoyed it!
An outstanding rendition and celebration of such an amazing and masterful composition! You've really shown us that this album is without a doubt, timeless. Fantastic work!
@@KarzGuitar I don't think I ever watched a single guitarrist playing for 1 hr before. It's so interesting what u did here. Not even in Budukan's multicam instrumedley one can appreciate the single musician writing and performance cos it's very dark and it's only one cam/point of view. With your video I could appreciate in full the magic of Petrucci's creative genius, the chords he uses, what he does when the other instruments take the front/solo, how he carries the songs (his rhythm guitar writing) etc. I never liked Home to much besides the intro and verse, but with your video I find it now much more interesting, it has some cuts that are not present in any of the other songs (specially in the solo) etc so now I am listening to that song with a different mind set. This was the first album I pre-ordered in my life and I was a kid waiting eagerly for it's arrival at the shop (no ebay nor amazon then). You have now open a new dimension to it for me so thanks a lot. It's great to revisit and rediscover classic albums. I was born in Chile and I sent your video to some musicians friends of mine there. We are all massive DT fans of course. I saw them here in London for the anniversary of Images and Words when they also played A change of seasons in full!! DT live was also my first ever gig, in Chile back in 2005 for the Octavrium tour, which I think is still the biggest DT gig of their history (as a solo act) with 20.000 fans coming to see them. God bless u mate! I hope someone does the full bass, keyboard and drum parts now!! hehe
@@JayBaggio comments like these are seriously the best part about posting videos. So glad that my cover has been interesting and informative for you! And many thanks for sharing this with others. Yeah, it'd be cool if others would do the same on the other instruments!
@ChrisHaHaHaHa Not really - the seven string is needed for Dance of Eternity, and Home is in Drop D. The rest are in standard tuning, but I liked different setups for some songs - for example, the clean chords at the beginning and the rhythm chords in Overture 1928 sound best with perfectly tuned strings, and I find a hardtail guitar more reliable for those. But some of the solos use the floating trem, so I swapped for those songs where needed. All in all the swaps probably weren't *necessary*, but they were fun :)
You re an awesome guitar player man...you should focus on the tempo, most of the time you re getting ahead of the music...but, kudos to you man, awesome rendition!
how much work went into this? How long did it take you to learn this? You deserve much more views than those ‘tALeNtEd’ (according to their comments) chord strumming pentatonic 1 minute guitar solo people
Haha cheers man, appreciate it! As it usually goes, what's popular and what feels meaningful to work on (to me) aren't the same thing and I'm happy to continue making the content that makes me happy rather than appeals to a certain demographic/algorithm:) This one took a while, about a month of solid practice. But I knew how to play a fair few of the songs (at least at a casual level/I'd learnt them years ago and forgotten the details) so there was some old knowledge there too. Also, sick Cell pic \m/

By far home is my fav song on this album! AND you killed it! AMAZING
Love Home as well, great intro, chorus, solo, outro... solid song!

Dude this is fucking fantastic. Just incredible.
It seems like one big take instead of multiple with edits.
Yeah it is! Just one long session. Took a while to get it all down, but it was definitely time well spent. Thanks for the kind words!
The amount of effort that you must have put into this. Impressive.

Dude, this is amazing!!!! Where did you get the music sheets / tablatures from?
Variety of sources! Ultimate guitar, songsterr, watching live performances, looking up covers and just with my ears:) thanks man!
@@KarzGuitar Amazing job man! You should be very proud of this. Thank you for sharing.
Cheers! I definitely am, and its very cool to be able to share this kind of thing. SFAM is one of my favourite albums!
Excellent!
I wonder how long it took you to learn it all?
Probably about a month or so to get all the details down! But I had a rough idea of a lot of the songs from just being a big fan of the band :)
Are all the guitars tuned different? If so what are they tuned to?
