Dread suit is essentially the fusion suit with extra armor, kinda like how in Zero Mission you went from the basic suit (even with varia and the like) to the "Iconic" suit we know.
Edit: Since you played in 2021 (and I never saw it... so I'm assuming you beat it, if not...) how long did it take you to catch the... *SPOILERS* below.
