My dnetist did this to two front tooth about 8 years ago to straighten out the chips I had in the teeth- except he made the entire surface a yellow colour. I asked why he did that and he said because my teeth are going to yellow over time. 8 years later all of my other teeth are white and these are yellow and they stand out. I wish I had told him at the time to redo them and make them white but you trust them to make the right call.
sounds like he's a real jackass.. back in late 70's i had a little chip in one of my big ass almost buck tooth and the dentist gave me a crown... all he needed to do is use a dremel and shave a little off... my mom should have caught this as bs...but i was 16 and new little about tooth repairs... the hard fake tooth wore down all my lower teeth over the years...some dentists are all about making extra money for sure..

Rand Sawas Gonna have to have the whole restored / false tooth redone to color match it. These don't last for ever anyway. Maybe 10 years at most before need to restore new. Also so not try and get teeth whitened after you have this done or false teeth will not change and you have what we call corn tooth. If you are a smoker, brush teeth with baking soda paste and finger tip before you go in to remove all built up tar. Be surprised how much yellow is due to smoke.

bryce allison If your teeth chipped due to an accident (I assume the anterior/front area is affected) and they became grey, there's a good chance that your nerve/pulp tissue was traumatized as well. The resulting internal bleeding caused the greyness. The composite (tooth colored filling material) can often NOT mask the grey tint (depending on the severity of the color change), meaning there's usually a small degree of grey visible. If it is confirmed that the nerve is dead/necrotic, you need a root canal treatment and could try internal bleaching. But please consult with your dentist how to proceed, especially since you are only 12 and still growing.
