wonderful played! he nailed Scarlatti's sonata with a really clear, sensitive touching.
why didn't he win the first prize? thats really weird...

This is an extraordinary lyrical interpretation of Pictures at an Exhibition, starting at about 32 mins. There are numerous technical mistakes, but it is OK because of the special artistry.

From someone who attended all of the finals of the competition, I would say that what cost him the competition was his Mozart concerto, which I think lost in emotion to Beatrices'. See watch?v=ZTPdCNbgGmI
His Prokofiev Concerto was outstanding however, so I was a little surprised that he didn't take at least third.
