Good morning Bears 🐻 As the saying goes “The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco” I’ve been San Francisco several times, explored different areas each time and always enjoyed my visits there. I’ve been to most, if not all, of the palaces you went to. Those clam chowder bowls are so good. Looks like you had a great time. Thanks for sharing. 😊❤
Hello, Hello! I know what you mean, we were freezing on that bus. 😄 We weren't thinking about being on top of the bus in the open air, Mary had wet hair too! I am so glad Mary and I split one of those chowder bowls, it was really hard to finish. Other than being cold, we had an amazing day 🥰🎄❤
I worried about that, I thought I may catch whatever Mary had. I think my vitamin regimen is working. Seems like we have been around a lot of very sick people this winter.
China town and walking along the wharf on all the piers was my must do and it did not disappoint. Yes, the food was great. We should have just eaten out the whole time we were there, lol.
Alcatraz was closer then I thought to land. Your tours were so great. I like both of your pearl necklaces, very pretty and such a great souvenir. My Christmas is taken down and I already miss it. I guess officially tomorrow is back to reality for alot of people. Back to school. It is very cold today in Minnesota. Thanks for sharing this video, it was a fun one to watch. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I know! I was thinking, "back in my younger days, I could swim that", I loved water and could stay in it for days! I have gotten pearls like that down in Florida when I was Mary's age, it really was a great idea for a souvenir. I am so glad I still have my Christmas things up. It is still really dark here and the colored lights make it so much more cheery. I may put up a few more things 😉 and Christmas cards are still coming, so why not? I actually worked a full week last week, so I am glad to have a weekend. It was split last weekend, so yes back to a normal schedule will be nice. Stay warm! It's been 30 below here for a couple of weeks, we will be warming up to above zero tomorrow! YAY! 🥰❤
The stadium you went by is Kezar Stadium, which is currently is used by local high schools, but up until the early 1970s, was the home stadium for the San Francisco 49ers (They tore down much of the stadium after the 49ers moved their games to Candlestick Park)
I had no idea, until someone else had brought it up. I had to do some research, that is so interesting! I love the history of the town, it really is amazing.
I could spend a couple of weeks there and not see all the things I wanted. One day, I may have to return. Sothern Oregon looks nice too, I have to make it there one day 😉
San Fran is so beautiful and the mix architecture history is impressive. I am so glad! I feel so validated and seen 🥶 When you guys say it’s warm (40°’s) that’s when I’m freezing here in Cali. Thank you for noticing our cold is a little different than AK cold. I love Pier 39. I know San Fran got a lot of one way streets. Omg you needed the 3 bear bears so fitting for your channel. You guys got so lucky to have such clear weather.
I can't believe the places that have stood the test of time in San Francisco, between fires and earthquakes. The culture is really different than San Diego. The whole wharf area was amazing, I could have spent the whole 2 days just wandering around there. I am glad China town was mostly a flat walk, I couldn't imagine walking those hills!!! Yeah, that wind was like Michigan wind, wet and cold, it blows right through your clothes, Brrrr. The market area on the ship had a lot of food choices, but it was hard to pick. Room service always had something wrong, it was weird, I think they were short handed. The dining room was what surprised me, it was not the best.
Did you see the Full House filming home? The building used in The Towering Inferno? The Giants stadium? Larry would like The Shell Cellar. As the homelessness really bad? Sea lions were cool . This brings the days of The Streets of SF with Michael Douglas back from the past. I would’ve went to In and Out burger.🤔 Thanks for taking us.
Ugh, I had a huge long reply and it got lost. We were near the Full House Home, but did not get off the bus. The Towering Inferno was a model, not a real building. We were docked at Pier 47, the Giants Stadium was within sight, if we had just looked a little harder, I may have went down there. We did not see a whole lot of homeless which was nice. We almost walked back to In and Out Burger, but our feet were killing us. I could have stayed at the wharf for the whole 2 days, it was so much fun! 🥰
The "field" at 10:45 was Kezar Stadium, which is where the 49ers used to play long ago. The city knocked the big stadium down and replaced it with the much smaller one that you saw, which is now used for high school football games and recreational soccer leagues. The city was very quiet. Pre-pandemic and in warmer weather, all the places you went to would have been packed. Even most of the sea lions were away - sometimes every floating dock is piled high with sea lions. I kinda' wish you went to the top level of the bus just for a minute when you were coming back into SF from Treasure Island. The view of SF at night from the bridge is spectacular. BTW - I moved to the Bay Area in '83 after graduating from UAF.
Thank you, I knew there was something very cool about that field. I had to look it up (of course) and it looks like the old stadium was a victim of earthquake damage. Which is why the city amazes me that they still have so many old structures. I think the day we went was a great time to go. The Christmas events had not started yet. I have seen videos of a lot of sea lions out there on the docks. The tour guide was really pushing for us to go to the top of the bus on the way back over the Bay Bridge, we were just done with the cold at that point, it had been a long day. San Francisco really exceeded my expectations.
I was really surprised at how much I liked it too, the weather was not great, and I am not a big city person. Those fruit and cheese plates were different every time, but no crackers, we couldn't find any crackers on the whole ship!
It use to be crowded it’s sad SF ended up like that..it used to be be so busy and where everyone wants to go but the shoplifting and homeless ruined it with all the stores leaving
I watched a really good video about a week before we left that had a recent drive through of most of the city "cleaned up". The weather was bad the 2 days we were there, so I think that had a lot to do with the crowds. We really liked San Francisco. I also heard that they changed the theft laws to crack down on crime too.

Nice to see San Francisco again, brings back a lot of memories ❤
It’s a great city for a vacation, lots to do! I am actually glad we planned things the way we did, we will have to go back at some point.
Video good 💯💯💯💯💯💯 Jim Ross ATL 😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮
Thank you 🥰

@ Glad you didn’t get sick sitting on top of the bus. 😊

The gardens at China town are beautiful. Loved Pier 39 and seeing the sea lions. The food there was awesome.

I was born in the Bay area ❤ Theres so many fun things to do there , I miss it I'm in Southern Oregon right now 😢
I could spend a couple of weeks there and not see all the things I wanted. One day, I may have to return. Sothern Oregon looks nice too, I have to make it there one day 😉
@AlaskanBearsVlogs oh let me know , when you can come down
You bet!
Enjoying San Francisco? Good video, Alaska bears. Let’s see what adventures you have planned for 2025.❤❤❤❤
It was fun but chilly. We learned from other trips to take layers, weather may not be as it seems, but were not expecting that, LOL!

Oh and kinda disappointed on the food offerings on the cruise so far.

@ you need to go back and do Alcatraz and also the trolly. Glad you enjoyed San Francisco… did you leave your heart in San Francisco? 🎶🤭
Haha, it was a 2 day stop. I have more videos to edit. Alcatraz was a trip, the weather was crazy!
@ I can’t wait to see that! I was going to also ask if there’s a curfew for guest to be onboard even though it’s an overnight port?
San Francisco is always cold this time of the year, especially at night. Nice tour and video. 😊
I am glad we had our winter jackets, LOL. Thank you 🥰
That was cute when you said the capitol building, it is San Francisco City Hall, the Capitol of CA is in Sacramento. ❤
Yeah, I knew it wasn't the capital, but was thinking capital, because it looks like it. What a City Hall! The buildings are amazing.

@ I guess Larry said they used the Hyatt Regency lobby and glass elevator for scenes and also a fake peerless building. And hr can remember that.

You did well to knock off a lot of the tourist joints in that short time.
It was a busy day for sure! We tried, we also have day 2 that should be up this weekend.
You hear so many negative things about San Franscisco nowadays, but it looked really pretty and interesting. That fruit and cheese plate was sad. lol
