only guy on youtube who posts proper reviews. No bullshit straight up to point. keep up the good work.
I love how you're still rocking' that Sony A6000 and are doing lens reviews because that is what I really need, lenses! I got the A6000 last October and I love it! Keep up the great work!
Thank you! A6000 is still awesome, I use it more than the A6300 still.
why is that ?
Why? I don't see a reason to use the A6000 instead of the A6300. Besides that the A6000 is cheaper, so the damage is not so big if it falls to the ground :D
The A6000 apparently has better 1080p video. For virtually all other things, the A6300 is better though.
Poblano Photography The A6000 is a great camera, especially for the price.
Watched this (and several other videos) months ago but was too scared to do it. Ordered this product but finally go too many spots it was ruining even stuff at f5.6. Plucked up the courage and did it. These things are AMAZING. I had upwards of 10 dust spots which were cleared with a little solution (less than used here) and only one swab. Best way to do it though as others have also suggested. First take a picture of the sky at F16-22. Bump up the contrast in post and you'll clearly see how many spots you have. Clean as per instructions. Then take the same photo again and compare. Can't believe this was so easy and effective. Won't hesitate next time. Thank you mr Mafia!
I know this video is a few years old, but so is my camera. This was perfect! Gave me the confidence to clean it myself rather than replace the camera. Worked like a charm. Thanks!
try to watch any mirrorless camera being disassembled, there's like at least 3 layers of glass infront of that sensor so you are not actually touching the sensor but a protective glass layer.
That's what I thought...
@@DAVE_WHITE canned air?!?
@@DAVE_WHITE LOLLLLLLLLLLLL.
This is the funniest answer I have ever heard on YT.
BTW you won't have a camera in no time!
Still if you drag some particle across that glass layer and manage to scratch it is going to be no bueno
I clean my a6500 with my tee shirt and it's fine. My a6000 was completely fine too.
I like the way he explains because he talks slow-to-normal (not fast like the others guys on youtube) and is very accurate.
Watching this video just saved me €75!!!!!!! My local camera store wanted €99 for a sensor clean. So I ordered the cleaning kit for €25, watched your video a few times and then the clean just took me a few minutes and I'm absolutely delighted with the outcome. My Sony A6000 is perfect again. Thanks so much for this video :)
You forgot to mention how to test if your sensor is really clean or not: Take a photo at very small aperture (f/22) of a very bright and evenly area (clear sky). Then make some minor picture adjustments (very high contrasts etc.) and you will clearly see all the dirt spots on your sensor which are not visible by just looking at your sensor at all. By the way: At the beginning when I started with my A6000, I didn't know that the sensor is sensitive, and I cleaned it a couple of times just with ordinary cotton swabs and windows cleaner. And the result was fine as well. The sensor is not as sensitive as you think. Some time ago I read a very interesting article of someone who cleaned his sensor with all kind of different materials and nothing happened to the sensor at all. But these cleaning swabs shown in your video are always the best and easiest way (but quite expensive unfortunately).
One of the things I do is take video at small aperture of the sky outside and move the camera left right up and down and any dust will really show up on a clear bright day. I found this faster and easier to spot than a photo because the video moves around and the dust spots will stay in the same spot.
great tips
he talked about it at 8:25
Make sure you watch the whole video, he mentioned it towards the end ;)
Agreed. 35 years experience with optics and cameras. These things are not nearly as delicate as most people think they are.
this information is exactly what I needed to clean my a6000. you're videos are much appreciated! thank you
You're welcome!
Great little tutorial. I made the mistake once or twice of using a microfiber cloth to clean the sensor, and ended up putting 2 small hairline scratches on the sensor that won't come off. Luckily, they're not noticeable in pictures and videos, but I can see them on the sensor. I purchased this cleaning kit on Amazon (thanks for the link) and cleaned some smudges from my sensor last night, and it looks like new again aside from the 2 small scratches. On drop and once swab was sufficient for my sensor. Thanks again!
Hey thank you! I just got into taking photos and got an a6000. I couldn't figure out why it was not focusing. got this kit and boom. back out there again with my camera
Great series you are doing with the Sony range. I had a mark on my sensor, ordered the cleaning kit. Just cleaned and works like a charm.
Nice! I am glad to help. Thanks for watching!
You should also show the improvement through Lightroom. That would show what really happened!
Thx for this awedome guide!
I had an white dot on my A6500.
However i manage to remove it with the help of your guide.
One point about cleaning kits is check it's the right width for your sensor. I've been waiting weeks for an ebay purchased kit from China for my NEX-6, which said it was suitable for Sony cameras. Just realised it's for micro 4/3 so the swabs are 12mm wide, the APS-C sensor just under 17mm. Ideally they should be the same width so no risk of a 'tide mark' or having to use up two swabs instead of one. Just used the right sized kit from local camera store instead, and got rid of 3 spots and colour and contrast have definitely increased a bit.
I have just used Q-tips after accidentally touching the sensor with my finger changing lenses. Not really recommended but can work in a pinch! Thanks for the video +technologymafia, love your work!
Excellent video! I just bought a Sony A6000 and the sensor was already dirty! Tomorrow I'll go to the shop to get It again, they are cleaning it. Now that I saw this useful video, I'll clean it by myself, I hope in many years! Thanks a lot from Sicily! 😉
I was wondering if you could just squeeze the bottle instead of shaking it to get the drops out. I used similar cleaning kit before for removing a smudge. For a stubborn speck of dirt that doesn't come loose with a rocket blower, I use a Q-tip and flick it off carefully.
i was searching for a method to clean my sony @6300 sensor and that was the perfect video for me . so thanks for the tutorial ... very very helpful . keep up the good work
I'm glad to see such high-quality content! VSGO cleaning products thank you for sharing
Good Day Arthur, You released this video over 3 years ago so question is. Would you change any of your procedures here or do you still stick with same process?
I'm not the one asked, but the theory on sensor cleaning hasn't changed since, this is also the way any lab is cleaning your sensor if you let them do it.
Be careful on cameras with IBIS since there the sensor is not fixed and thus wobbles around - use less pressure when cleaning it.
Also get good quality swags, many swabs leave an adhesive like layer after cleaning which can only be seen through a magnifying glass.
Thanks for sharing! Just bought this kit and cleaned my a6000 and dots are gone! Very easy to use.
Bought the same kit and didn't even need the solution! I was really glad I googled what to do before just setting to the sensor with a qtip.
Please use the solution nevertheless. It eases up the particles from the surface so you're not hard-dragging them.
Yeah my Alpha6000 does 'sucked' in lots of dust. Need to clean the sensor and lens every 2 weeks or so. Im using the lenspens and the air blower, so far it's PERFECT! 😘😍
I have that same VSGO sensor cleaning kit and used it on my Sony NEX-6. Worked great.
Is your brother the guy who runs the "Hoovies Garage" channel ? :D You even talk in a similar manner. :)
You use Too much solution.. A little drop it's enough
can i swab the lens even if i don't have the liquid solution? is it same for the lens? my NEX 5T got a little bit of dust. hoping for your response thank you
Lenses are different. Many high quality lenses have rare earth coatings and they can be damaged by certain chemicals and too much pressure as these coatings are usually soft. If it is dust, just blow it off. Always use a ND filter over a lens to help it stay clean.
seems like you pushed the swab too hard. I also do it using the same product, but when I see the way you swab it, I feel a bit clingy 😂😂😂😂
Thank you for this . I have the Sony A-3000 and am out shooting every single day and it gets Dusty and am needing something safe to clean the Sensor , with your Review of these i will give these a Try and im sure they will work out just fine . they look like they work really well . i also dont have the options the A-6000 has to clean the Sensor .
The issue i have is the Sony Sel1855 well is not very good it lets in the dust very easy and does not stop the dust from going to the Sensor at all , i have issues with it all the time and also have been looking for another lens another video i watched of yours gave me a good review of a lens i may consider .
Thank you for your video !
Tony Lee Marvin Photography
Thanks mate, i thought my sensor is ruined but i found this cleaning kit and it works. BTW I bought a6300 "because of you" ;)
Got an a6300 in Jan.. Only removed the lens once and got dust on the lens.. Thank you for this tutorial..
Very informative. Straight forward. 10/10.
Thank you sir very clear to understand right to the point . Please keep up the good work
Looking at the dirt on your sensor, knew it from first second that it is not going to be cleaned with any kind of dry method. As for "Wet" cleaning method, not sure why you said "Not to use Alcohol solutions" for sensor cleaning and where did you read / heard of it? I can bet the solution you bought and used in this video is either a near absolute Ethanol, Xylol or one of the other kind of alcohol solutions.
Yup, i have this "solution" and can confirm it's definitely alcohol, smells like my isopropyl alcohol that i use for CPU cleaning etc.
I have a6000 and have already used this cleaning kit before to clean its sensor...
Good video by the way...
Thanks dude, ordered from your link - subbed and a big like - also greetings from Ireland :)
Thank you! Greetings from Texas!
I've heard these sensor cleaners are not good in a long term. What do you think about it? Of course you recommend these products, but is a total mistake to think that these can damage the sensor?
Lol
I clean my cameras sensors with a microfiber towel and glass cleaner... Never had a problem
Have you done any videos about protecting an a6000 from dust and rain, and how to swap lenses in bad weather?
Thanks for all your videos, super helpful! I've been watching for awhile now, and I finally have a question. Do you use the FotodioX Tough E-Mount LT, or have you looked into it? I've noticed a few of your lens videos you mention some poor connections/lens wobble. I wonder if this is a good investment or if its gimmicky.
It's terrible to collect dust, compared to Canon. I have both and shot a lot at the beach.
Thank you for all the reviews, I think I saw them all :) and got more satisfied with my a6000.
Great video. I used the same cleaning swabs, but with the Eclipse solution.
I did cleaned my a6000 sensor. My tested method is better (your method is also very good.) I recommended 100 ISO and f22 shoot the blue sky or anything bright blue instead of white so it will help you find more spots. Why blue? Because we all shoot at the sky and outdoor. That cleaning DIY is good. Just remind for anyone who are newbie need to make sure to check sensor liquid if its non-flammable which mean you can bring it at airplane. I bought two liquid sensors are Eclipse Sensor Cleaning Fluid (flammable) and Aeroclipse Digital Sensor Cleaning Fluid (non-flammable travel safety.) Last, cleaning your lens (different method cleaning it) before put it on. :)
LJCH4E not everyone lives under blue skies(rain/cloudy) plus taking pictures looking up has a higher chance of dislodging particles(in the lens/camera) onto the sensor. My sensor was perfect. Then i was shooting the ceiling and that's when it happened. Next shot had large grey dirt/dust spot. After that the censor was like a magnet for particles. The air bulb just did not remove enough of the particles. The in camera cleaning didn't do much either.
You just saved me $1500. I really appreciate it brother!!! Subscribed!!!
Hi,
thanks a lot for this video, it wil be very useful for me since I saw some thing into the sensor. I'll let you know soon if this method will be resolutive. Obviosly , this kit is for one time, is it right? Bye :)
As usual good video. By the way, that is one clean desk!😊
I tried this with my camera and it looks brand new except there are two lines on my sensor and I don't know what those are? Are they scratches? if so how do I get rid of them?
just wanna share some of my technique, i use one of the plastic bristle brush (just pick a fur just like u are using nail)to remove small dust, i just make the move a bit, maybe it hard to move when blowing cause by electrostatic, after it move a bit then i blow it, im still afraid to wipe my sensor with sensor cleaning kits.
Thank you very much for the tip..!! Weldone
Asanga from Sri Lanka
Thanks Tech M, another great and useful video!
Great tutorial, thank you! Does anyone know what the surface of the sensor is made of? Is it glass or something else?
I'll buy this for my Sony NEX camera. Thanks! ❤
I tried cleaning my a 6000 one time and I was super scared to do it because I was afraid of breaking the sensor or ruining it. I don't think I used a lot of pressure either. Just curious, how much pressure did you apply on the swap when you were swiping across the sensor?
Not that much. You cant use too much pressure anyway because the swab bends, so I wouldnt worry about it.
Im really new to this and just few months ago I had my very first cam which is the a6000. Im wondering how dirt goes to the sensor when i dont even take off the lenses? And i dont have that hand blower. I have hair dryer will that work if i put it a little farther away because of the heat? 😅 If not then i guess have to resort to your way.
Useful video, but any tips on cleaning it w/o the cleaning kit?
hayir
Ertugrul Kahraman I would not recommend using anything else on it. You risk scratching the sensor and causing permanent damage.
i got sent the 24mm size swab but my camera needs a 17mm swab head. Can I carefully trim the 24mm to approx 17mm?
Seems to have worked on mine, thanks for a good video 😊
Sir arthur thanks for solution my mirrorless camera sensor cleaning, I was very tens for cleaning my camera sensor, your 2nd way I do and thanks GOD my camera sensor is clean, thanks again sir,,,
is this applicable for light fingerprint smudge on the apsc sensor?
What exactly does the software sensor clean do? And do you have any thoughts or plan on doing a review on the sigma 30mm f2.8 (picked up a used Sony a6000 yesterday with that lens as well as the 55-210mm kit) thanks as always for the video!
zach biggs Does the Sigma a good performance? (Sharp as the 60mm)?
I haven't had the chance to use mine yet, I had my friend buy it on kijiji for me i won't get to use it until late april sadly, but from what i've read online both the 30mm and 60mm f2.8 sigma's are great budget lenses
Another hint, keep the camera on after you do the sensor clean...that will lock the sensor in place, thus making it easier to clean.
That only applies to DSLRs as they have mirrors. Furthermore, what gets locked is the mirror and not the sensor.
Is it a problem that I’ve scratched it a little bit as I was doing that ?
I want to know, whether smudges can affect those mirrorless sensor...?.?..
does it matter if you go up and down with the swab instead of side to side?
How does Cleaning Mode work ? In my a6400 there is no vibration, nothing happens when I turn on Cleaning Mode.
Thank you very much my friend as i never knew about it!!!
Great video that removes any trepidation about taking on a project like this. What amazes me is that there are "dislike" votes. Must just be some miserable people... I pity them.
Hi
I have Sony A6000 having issues, slower and Lens is not zooming correctly,
Need advice, please
Excellent video thank you for posting
Hi sir to clean the sensor the camera must be off?
I looked at this kit and the swabs are 16mm and the Sony sensor is 15.6mm. Some have said this is a problem in reviews but it doesn't seem to be the case in the video
Awesome DIY!
Wowww. 4 pads and half of the cleaning solution used for one time cleaning!
Those "Cleaning Kit" sellers must LOVE you!
Thanks, very helpful!
Hello, you said not to touch Sensor with anything or alcohol
So that's exactly what you do with the cleaning kit ????
I would be happy to clarify. Thank you
lux284 The cleaning solution is not alcohol-based.

excellent video shame about the low F stop on the video (???) so much unnecessary blurring, still, awesome, thanks
Would you recommend the Sony a6000 as a beginner camera?
Yes, i still think the A6000 is still one of the best camera values on the market for beginner and intermediate users.
The swaps arnt they allready with liquid?
Thx for grreat vids (y)
These ones are not, no. The liquid is separate.
Do I have to let it dry? If yes, do I just leave it on my table? I just afraid dust will go in again OR do you clean it till its dry and put the lens back on?
Use another one to dry it.
you should purchase some battery grips and review them for the a6000
Good idea, thanks!
+1
How easy is it to scratch it? I accidentally touched the sensor with the blower and now im scared its not just a smudge but a scratch :(
Did it come dirty or did cmflippen GET it dirty!?
You know he did.
Sir i just dropped normal solvent to sensor of my sony 6400.
How to get rid of it
Thank you so much for this!!
Very useful information, thank you.
Thank you so much! God bless you!
omg I've being cleaning it like a complete savage, I guess I'm lucky I didn't damaged it, thanks for the video !
He paid for it from you're ass watching his videos dipshit XD
Could you possibly do a video on any good and cheap microphone options or adapters to use normal non sony mics for the a6000 since it doesn't have a mic port (ex I have a rode video micro I'd like to use with it but don't know how and have seen the sony mics are even worse than the internal microphone)
Chris Davis there are 2 sony mics you can buy or since you have the micro buy a voice recorder and use that.
Thanks for the tip, this saved my butt!
SHOULD THE CAMERA BE ON OR OFF WHILE CLEANING SENSOR? no video on youtube answers this question . I own sony a6500
Off, but with the A6500 make sure you lock the sensor in the settings first.
Sorry I’m a bit confused. There’s a few videos I’ve seen that showed the IBIS is locked with you don’t turn the power off after self cleaning. Therefore, leave it on?
On DSLRs it should be ON. OFF on mirrorless cameras.
what are you doing dude??? :D :D :D give the solution directly to the sensor hahahahhaha
Do we turn in the camera or keep it off when cleaning it ?
just keep it off for better
Hello I have a question a bit out of topic
My A6000 doesn't recognize the lens says "attach properly" and the eye starts blinking is the lens damaged ? I sent it over to tech but I am still curious
XiomarCruz did your problem get solved? This is currently happening with my camera
Ordered this kit. Kind of scared to clean the sensor myself due to the delicacy of it though.
you didn't take some shots at the end? was it broken?
Jeffrey Catap Yep. 🙄
How does automatic cleaning work? I feel like it does nothing.
plsss add a photo and video review of Sony a6000 kit lens of 55-210.
How often I have to clean my DLSR Sony a6000 ?
This is really useful.Thx
