Time to bust out my skid steer and get to work. Because I have a show that focuses on the Radio Control hobby, for me it only made sense to get the TORC Robotics, "RemoteTask" setup for my new CAT D-Series skid steer. This allows me to control the skid steer via remote up to 1000' away. Recently, my older skid steer had an engine failure, and instead of limping it along another season.. it was time to sell it and move on. My back is still thanking me for the choice.. hah!

To address some questions from my last film:
1) Why didn't you go with a tracked machine?
1a) After weighing out cost, vs my applications - a wheeled skid steer meets my needs and budget. I have a lot of snow, ice, and a flat surfaces. Also, our soil has a lot of gravel in it, that like to cut rubber.
2) Can you ride inside the machine?
2a) Of course, it is a full sized skid steer, with optional robotics added
3) It looks small in the preview picture, is it a mini?
3a) Hah! It is actually a full sized skid steer, just the perspective is different. I am standing closer to the camera, at a "safe distance".
4) How much is a setup like this?
4a) Depending on your area of the world, and currency - prices will change. I am in Canada.. and I purchased my setup at "Finning", my local CAT dealer.
5) Is it Brushed, or Brushless? Gas or Electric?
5a) a 74.5 HP Diesel Engine
6) How much can this machine lift?
6a) A total of 2150lbs
7) Is is the Two Speed version?
7a) Yes, this 242D skid steer is a Two Speed. Low and High
8) Is the Quick Coupler / Change tool Hydraulic?
8a) No, the Quick Change is Electronic
9) Why would you get a robotic skid steer? Isn't it more fun to drive from inside the cab?
9a) I love operating machinery, both inside the cab or now outside! Because the Radio Control industry is one I am passionate about already - I am excited to have the ability to operate a full scale machine via remote. My main use for a robotic skid steer is to protect my back, as I have an injury to some lower spinal discs. Riding inside can jostle and aggravate my injury for long periods of time.
The secondary reason I am interested in this technology is because I believe that to this point, no one has taken the time to explore a product like this, and the uses it may have - while recording their adventures. As I have been operating a film company that specializes in filming the Radio Control products of the world, and because I love HD equipment - I figure this is a great opportunity for us to explore what this "everyday" consumer product can do.

Hello ! Hey no problem. Depends on where you are and your currency, of course.. As I am in Canada, it was about $16K add-on. It is great for my back back.. and saves me from getting beat around. Don't get me wrong.. love operating my Cat from Inside the cab.. but the RC option is pretty cool.. lol

Now this is cool great work !... I've myself operate equipment I had to use a robotic excavator kinda strange for the first hour I wanted to jump in on the controls like usual but i couldn't.. it was torture for me in a sense

Nice vid and rig (and T-shirt). Been following your videos about this one. Why is it called 'robotics'? I see no robotic self-movement. Only a cool radio/remote controlled system, a 1/1 RC as you yourself also calls it.

I remember when you first started your channel and you didn't have much... did rc get you the money for all these cool toys?
RC was certainly apart of it.. but like most everything, time, passion, dedication, and hard work was all rolled into one.. and with a little imagination.. I was able to invest everything I earned on UA-cam back into my show.. and we continued to see new products come onto RC Adventures. It has been a dream come true. I hope the show has tickled your RC bone and inspired you to have fu along with us. Thank you for the years of support.. you have been with me a long time :)

Riley Boogie TV ther is 2 beacons on mine and beleive on his also.. 1's green for communications & the other is the standard amber/yellow beacon

the buggy track goes nice with the mudding run course there, the odd wooden block going down the path can help with mud trickling down with the rain water, but with the cat who cares :-p i hate to say it but a scale railway in there would be dribble worthy...1:10 maybe? :-D THE COSTS THE COSTSSS THE BELLS THE BELLLSSSS

I have a little kubota bx25d that i'm way too big for, i'm wondering if I could even fit in one of those? I would probably have to run it remote ( 6'6" ). That is so cool! I like how easy it was to change implements, mine requires a bunch of wrench time in the shop to swap things out.

Just got the last part for my RC Boat the MONICA, I tested it and it works flawlessly! The fishing nets raise and lower remotly now,its so damn awesome! I will be doing a video on it soon. I just ordered a new battery for it also because I noticed the original charges beyond what its supposed to,then goes dead in no time. Its the original NiCad batter that came with the boat,I noticed it was flat dead when I bought the boat for 14 bucks. I now have about 125$ into it,thats still below what they originally wanted for them new but the electronics were trash,the steering was left or right only,it did have reverse but the spot light didnt really work,nor did the mast lights or interior lights as well as instruments in the wheel house. Now everything works. I did get flagged by the bank today. They wanted to know why I am buying stuff from china. It was for my remote for my fish nets. have you ever had this happen before? Its supposed to go through Pay Pal,then I pay them. at least I thought thats the way it worked.
That machine can kill... I have one.. maybe better if you do it on grass mower.. .

can you operate it in side what the RC remote
Until I found this video I thought you somehow converted a full size skid steer to remote control but it turns out it’s something you can actually buy. I imagine something like that would have to be special ordered
Your skid steer needs 3D grade control with full automatics all you would have to do is steer the machine to groom your track. We build a kit for your skid steer all it is is a harness and more electronics and I know you enjoy that 😊
Awasome, hum just think if you happened to get that stuck ok u could put a chain to it n also pull that out as an operator was running that while u pull woth another truck.

Also looks like you need to put some gravel in that lane to keep the soil in place with that drainage ditch you dug.

Like R/C Tracks, Pit Bike Tracks, Etc. , I'm sure You get what I'm trying to say. But Yes, I've been thinking about checking the Mini Cats Out, but have been thinking long term as well, Will I be using it after I have the things built that I needed it for... get what I'm saying?? why is he using that bucket? In Australia every one of these machines has a 2 in 1, or combo bucket.

prolly like 55 before the speed wobble starts. I setup my stampede 4x4 vxl with a 19/54 setup and a 3s. I realized I should stop as soon as I did a wheelie at 65mph on command
I recommend saving data logs etc.
The way autonomy is going you could probably share data to speed up the technology.
Maybe even at a price.
P.s I am against human jobs being lost but I am all for machinery assisting the human race to be in abundance.
That's cool, but will never be as effective or productive as a "good" operator in the seat. All of your senses and feel in the cab is the most important part of running any machine efficiently.
Actually.. after owning it for a few years and getting 100+ hours of RC time in.. I am amazing at it now. And my body is healing.. I can see all corners, and push the machine to its limit without injuring myself, the machine, or otherwise. Pretty cool

Earth moving manufacturers do the radio control for much larger machines too. Such as a D10 bulldozer on mine sites. Really cool
