Staying Safe On the Water

Memorial Day weekend has finally arrived, for the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office it's the official start of the summer boating season. Before you head out to our great lakes, rivers, and pools we have a few safety tips we hope you'll follow.
For Boaters:
1. Wear a life jacket.
2. Be respectful on boat ramps.
3. Know the boating rules.
4. 300 foot rule on Lake Minnetonka.
5. Don't Drink and Boat.
6. Don't be a nuisance.
For Swimmers:
1. Wear a life jacket, especially children.
2. Know the water.
3. Know your limitations.
4. Never leave children unattended near the water.
