It is Unfortunate that this small documentary doesn't mention about the contribution of Angom Porom Singh a meitei who is the first christian convert in Manipur, who along with William Patrigrew contribute a lot in education as well as spreading the gospel. Check the history of Christianity in Manipur
Recently we heard that the first person who converted into Christian Was Angom. Porom Singh I think it is unfortunate leaving him aside. In the history whoever he might be let us praise God
You are right bro, Angom Porom Singh was the first person to convert into Christian in Manipur, but why don't he spread the Gospel message to Meitei's..! today.! 97% of Meitei's population is still Hindu..! But look at the Tangkhul's.! they spread the Gospel message among Tangkhul tribe, Now..! today Tangkhul population belongs to 100% pure Christian..! This is just an example.. Bro..!😊😊
For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creations will be able to separate us from the love of God in CHRIST JESUS our Lord. _ Rom, 8:38-39 May the Tangkhul Naga always stay Together! ❤❤❤❤❤
The first Christian converted was Angom Porom meitei of Phayeng village, not tangkhul, kuki, naga this and that. It was meitei who accepted Jesus as personal saviour, but yes, the first church building established was at ukhrul
Bro, I want to accept ur comment but Anngom porom Singh was the first Christian in Manipur n why he didn't spread gospel to other meitei Hindu people n also y he didn't build up church .we need proved as well right how can I accept this statement bdway tq.

My uncle (a Meitei) use to teach there at Nambashi high school. He usually return to home only for few days and went as soon as to resume on his duty. Served there more than 20 years. During those days people had to walk on foot to reach there as there was no motorable roads. He is well versed with Tangkhul dialect. I guess many of his students still remember him.
We are aware of that, however it is not relevant who converted first here. The effective founding of the first church and the widespread conversion of a particular tribe in Manipur are the subjects of the documentary. Back then, the missionary work in the valley was a failure. The missionary work of Rev. William Pettigrew was successful at Ukhrul.
"Individually", it was Porom singh. But it confines to him alone in the valley, not even his family..but in the case of Ukhrul, it is the story of how few early Tangkhul converts led to the entire community. And subsequently, those convert Tangkhuls reach out further the gospel to other tribes and Meiteis in Manipur and some parts of Myanmar.
