Great video! I grew up in Kaštell Stari south of Trogir on the Croatian coast. There was a smaller version of Željava attached to Split airport. My grandfather would take me on long walk and we would often end up at the airport. He was a fighter pilot in WW2 on the partisan side. He had to stop flying due to injuries but many of his old friends were officers in the Yugoslav airforce. One of my favourite memories was being scooped up by one of his friends and place into the cockpit of a Mig 21. We used to watch them takeoff and land for hours. Good times in bad times.
Wow, I hadn't thought of Tito in a very long time. And once again you take us to a fascinating site that I certainly never had imagined existed. Thank you!
Likewise, "Objekt505" or the so-called Željava underground air base is one of the 3 most expensive projects of the former Yugoslavia that led to its financial bankruptcy, a collapse that, among other factors, led to the escalation of bloody wars.

Cant believe I missed that. Thanks for the correction!
@@MasonObscura It's ok 😉
Is that a DC-3 at the end of the video? Looks like it's covered with bumper stickers.
You are correct
