One of the more comprehensive reviews I've seen for any motor home. I like that you actually demonstrate daily living scenarios by putting plates, lap tops, coffee makers at places you would store and use them on. It really puts the space and size into perspective. 🤙
I've owned my PX for 2 years this coming march and have put 30K miles on the van. I have had no significant issues with the Solis . I have an overhead light that is not working in the bedroom, that Is it. The quality of the laminate and workmanship leaves something to be desired. What sold me on the Solis was the floor plan and storage. what gave me pause was the ground clearance and the fact that it had no spare tire. Both of which can be addressed aftermarket. The bathroom gets the job done and I"ve come to appreciate the convenience of having a cassette toilet. We typically camp in forest service campgrounds and state parks, so it is a backup bathroom. What I don't like is that you have to open the backdoor to fill the water tank. We love Van life and are so glad we purchased our Solis.
Thx Bruce for your Owner’s perspective. It helps others
I really love when you do your Scott scoring , measuring everything and giving a great perspective on actually having to use everything in the vans. 👌🏼
Glad you like it Rosemary
Now I understand with the 1-10. But I agree with you on all of it. It’s nice with the storage. And nice bunk. Thank you so much Scott.
Hi Sherri !
Great tool Scott for someone starting out. Nicely done my friend. Cheers 😙🥂😘
Hey F&T !!!
I adore this! I am 5'3...I feel like this van was made for me. What you have to remember about the cassette is a gallon of fluid is 8lbs so that cassette would be really heavy if it was bigger.
There is a Solis PX in your future !!!
Very informative. Thanks for sharing!
Happy to help. Thx for wathcing
Really like your chart. Well done!!!
Appreicate that. Get yours here, gosmalllivelarge.com/van-shopping-toolkit
Love our 2023 59px, my wife and I spent 10 days in CA, 4 nights in NC and have plenty of room in the toilet/shower. I’m 6’3 and find the rear bed just long enough. Fun to sleep up top also and it’s even a longer bed. Good video, thanks.
Glad you enjoyed the video. Congrats on your 59PX !
Great analysis as we have one. No need for TV, we use outside shower even when outdoor temperatures are 38.
Shower 🚿 brrr 🥶
Like your score chart. Convenient to use. Just bought a Travato K Saturday. Already love it!❤
so excited for you Cindy
@@gosmall.livelarge 💕Thanks! We appreciate your channel.
I like the bed layout, but not willing to give up the bathroom space. No microwave or TV. I do like the zip window coverings. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Sarah
I love my Solis PX!
It is a great rig !
Thanks for having me for dinner it was quite tasty. Mmmmmm 🤣😂
LOL… glad you liked dinner !
Welcome back! You should check out cheap Italian carbon pans. Faster cooking speed, non-stick if seasoned like a cast iron pan, and lighter than cast iron.
Howdy… and thanks
That riser in the garage, at first looks great, but after I personally tested it walking up and down, it was definitely a disappointment. I actually crossed it off my list because of it.
Great review BTW, thanks!
Glad you liked the Scott Score
Just bought one. I liked the lack of tv and microwave. Vans get cramped fast when manufactures try to fit all the amenities into such a small space. I looked at the roadtrek slumber and it was tight for me. Thanks for the review
Congrats
nothing beats the 59GL
LOL !!
I think its a good option for camping weekends….. which is it’s target market, good alternative to the Revel if lithium isn’t a requirement.
Howdy Frisco T
First, thanks for your informative reviews. I’m in the market for a used camper van, and find them very helpful. And I finally got around to subscribing to your channel. I’ve never owned a camper van, but I currently have a Gulfstream BT Cruiser (considered by many to be a class B+), which I like, but I want to downsize. I also have a 22’ 1963 Streamline Duchess, which is a travel trailer with aircraft construction similar to an Airstream. Finally, I have a 27 foot, Keystone Hideout travel trailer with a bunkhouse floorplan, that I use when I’m traveling with more people. In the past, I’ve had a large class A, a small class A, and a big fifth wheel toy hauler, so other than a pop-up, a true class B is probably the only type of common RV I haven’t had to date. I have my own sort of “mental“ scoresheet (actually, more like a set of minimum requirements) for RV's, which based on my experience has served me well. I’m a single lady who normally travels with a large dog, so as far as a camper van goes, I only need comfortable sleeping space for one. A couple of absolute requirements that I personally have are: a sleeping space which doesn’t need to be made up every day, an open feel to the great room, a functional bathroom, functional fresh, black, and gray water capacities, either a generator or lithium system, a minimum two burner cooktop, a microwave, and a two door refrigerator, because I like to carry a lot of food with me, and want ample space for frozen goods. That last requirement is a dealbreaker for me for any RV which only has the college dorm style fridge. Based on those criteria, I’m searching for a late model, low mileage Travato G or GL. The K is out of the question due to the fridge, and I don’t want 2022 or newer because I don’t like the floor plan. I would really prefer the GL, but I’m not sure that I can afford it (I’m trying to stay in the $100K range, and most low mileage GL's seem to be going for around $130K). I wonder if you have suggestions for any other class B's that perhaps I should look at it, based on my criteria? Again, thanks for any advice, and I’m enjoying going back and looking at all your videos. I might try to join in for a Wednesday night session sometime.
You could easily solve your refrigerator space issue with an extra 12v Dometic chest refrigerator. Something like that would open up your options significantly.
@@joelv4495 that’s a good suggestion, and if I can’t find an RV already configured like I want, I might consider it. Having said that, it’s a pretty big clunky thing which would take up a fair amount of space, so if I could get it built in already I think that would be my preference. But thanks, it’s nice to have options.
Thanks for your thoughtful share Shannon
Hi Scott, please review the StoryTeller MODE LT Ford Transit as it is currently # 1 on my list to buy.
On the list. Please check out my vanlife video ua-cam.com/video/nLhU1LFau8c/v-deo.html
To each his own!!!
Class B's like this can be treated like daily drivers and easy to park! However, they are very small and confined spaces.
Class C's have more room but more difficult to drive and ya kinda need a tow vehicle unless you wanna break camp when you go somewhere.
Class A's are the most comfortable and home like, however difficult to drive and find a place to park.
thx King
Pretty sure those bump outs in bathroom for shelves for storage like Revel has!! 😎
Good to know
Great RV . Have you done Solis pocket? Would love your take on the solo traveler
Not yet!
I wanted to try my mind at that addition, knowing I couldn't keep up, I started re-watching it at 1/2 speed.....laughing because you sound exactly like my ex when inebriated which was always
LOL
Its my understanding that the height of the generator was resolved with repositioning the unit with the axle so it moves up and down with the terrain. If that's true it must really take a beating to be constantly shaking up and down.
hello Phil
As a happy owner of a PX I want to say that I to use my IPad to stream and have a small Bluetooth projector on my wishlist. I don’t miss tv or microwave. This camper is designed to use the least amount of AC current as possible.
Thx J J. glad you don’t miss the microwave oven; you are better than me !
Check out the Nebula Capsule 3
You need to scrap the ice test, and replace it with a Ben and Jerry's test. Can the freezer comfortably fit pints of Ben and Jerry's?
Thx Papa
Movie night? Posh Toshiba. Either enjoy each others company, take a walk, watch your iPad as you mentioned, or set up a TV upside under the awning in a screened in area. I reject that criteria.
You also have the table that pops down from under the bed which gives humored work space.
Thx Mark
My top 2 Choices are the RoadTrek Play and the Winnebago Solis 59px. I’m now leaning strongly towards the Solis 59px. It, however has 4 huge negatives. 1. That silly cassette toilet, which cannot be corrected. 2. No microwave. I can get a small microwave at Anywhere, no big deal. 3. No TV. Like you said, just use your devise. 4. The biggest issue is no exhaust or fantastic fan for the cooking or the bathroom. Not to mention cooling the van.
Maybe somebody has got some Ideas to solve these issues.
Thx Fast
Thanks very informative. Question about the undercarriage generator. What fuel is it using? What do most class B generator use for fuel?
I think, but am not certain, it uses chassis gasoline. Either that or propane
It uses gasoline from the main tank.
When fuel gets below 1/4 the generator shuts off, so you don’t get stranded 🙂
This is super helpful as I'm renting a class B for a trip later this year and it will most likely be this model so I can plan ahead. That fridge is completely silly for an RV. Does anyone use egg slots even at home? 😊
Glad it was helpful!
I liked your scoring sheet. I drive a 2018 Ram 3500 for my daily driver. It's a comfortable drive. The GPS screen is a little small. This newer model was a lot larger. I liked that bed set up. Thank you
Hi Cynthia. Create you own scoring sheet … download from this link gosmalllivelarge.com/van-shopping-toolkit
Scott, Do you know where I can find the differences between the 2021,2022, and 2023 years for the solis 59XP?
Your Winnebago dealer would likely be a good resource. Thx for asking
Movie night is easily accomplished with a white curtain up front and a projector.
White sheet and a projector inside the van…. Guessing you tried that and it worked out really well. Thx for sharing
@@gosmall.livelarge yes… the curtain separating the cab from the living area was two sided, black facing out front and white on inside. You’re welcome. Good luck!
Oh, I was really hoping you'd lift up the long cushion by the counter. I've read that it serves as a long counter extension. No microwave?😭 My criteria for the fridge would be room for frozen pizza and ice cream in the freezer! TFS 😻 Britt
Great points
Thank you for the excellent review! I'm currently looking at these in used condition as new they are out of my price range. I've been looking at the 59P instead though. I know it's not as long and doesn't have AC or a generator but would I be missing much otherwise? I was thinking I could buy a small, portable AC unit and a generator if I need it. I've been seeing 59P's with 25k miles go between $80k-90k. It would mainly be me, 5'7", and maybe one more. Should I wait a bit more as prices may decrease or jump on one that's ~$80k? Thanks!!
thanks for watching. Regarding your question on price. I think the price is always more than somebody wants to pay. But my question is how much is your life experience worth missing out on by not in sooner than later
@@gosmall.livelarge touché! Regarding 59P vs 59PX, are you basically losing a little length, AC, and a generator?
Limited use...couldn't use for stealth camping if hot due to generator noise?
With you on that !
Hi I have a question about your shower floor 😊we’re can I order it
If you have a Winnebago cmaper van chekc with a dealer fo that part. Might find a 3rd paty with a google search
In the walk through of this model I've never seen anyone putting the top up or down. Would like to see how that works.
next time Steve
Did they make the Promaster more comfortable to drive? Because my 2018 Promaster is NOT comfortable.
Biggest frustration was no passenger armrest. I built one but talk about being cheap. The rest of vehicle is a Win.
Seats are more upright than other seating position.
Wow! Scott it’s nice but not tv and no toilet and or shower. Tv I don’t mind but sometimes kids might or they use iPads. Refrigerator is nice. You made me laugh when you said the eggs would be scrambled after
if they rolled out of the place where they have you put them in the frig.
I didn’t understand how you were numbering them on the scale. Was it 1-10? That’s cool how you are doing it. Glad you made me laugh today. lol! If I think of another question I’ll get back with you.
Hi Sherri
It has a shower and it has a toilet and the cool thing at the back door is it actually can set up an outdoor shower with a curtain and even the connection at the back door. That way the water deal with the gray tank
What the heck? These builders need to understand. If I can’t poop and get a shower I’m not gonna buy it.
I could without a shower but not without a toilet (behind closable doors). If you reach that age where you need to get up at night there’s no going without.
Got it !
This floor plan would be so much better if they had put in a queen bed instead of a king bed. The extra room could then be used in the bathroom, (who knows maybe it could have blown everyone's mind with a one-of-a-kind dry bath.) Also, the kitchen could then have a full-size fridge. Finally, I would pay extra for the volta package.
Thx Shannon
FWIW... At 55" wide, that is a Full size bed, not a king or even a queen. Any smaller than that and it would be very tight for two adults. Scott's Travolta has a 48" Murphy bed and I think that's just too small for two adults.
@@bobkantor4695 Thanks for clarifying
I have a have a full solar, lithium, inverter system on my travel trailer and my worry is who is gonna fix it in small town america.
Thinking of trading in 2020.5 Travato 59K for the Solis 59PX. But ... we don't like the pop top feature. Do they make the 59PX withouth the poptop? Just don't like the idea of a big hole in our roof.
S K, please check Winnebago’s website for options.
They do. I have a px but with the poptop and love it. But they make a solis px flattop
What’s the OCCC? That’s always part of our criteria.
Typically the PX model has about 1,800 lbs +/-.
Be sure to add that to your RV Worksheet criteria gosmalllivelarge.com/van-shopping-toolkit
It is a lot simpler for me: Low clearance, small fridge and no Aldi system = no go.
got it RV Nut
Fyi the table comes off and stores behind the second row seat. I did replace the top with one that folds in half like the hymers. I also had them make a sink cover snd a slider table. All in walnut. Opens the space, adds counter space plus an outdoor table. My giant bed, second bed, and storage is why I went with a solis px over a Travato G. My bed is always down. We use the bed a lounge during the day.
I actually love my bathroom. I am 5’9 and shower no problem standing up. My 6’0 tall 20 year son has as well. I also love having a cassette and will never go back to a blacktank. I like that no additional sink. Also I would rather a large bed over the larger G bathroom. That is just me but for those watching another view. My storage is as much as my old towable.
I also added 8 100 amp hours of lithium batteries plus a 3000 watt victron inverter charger. Gives me around 10,000 watt hours of lithium for much less than a G to GX so can be done. I really wanted the floor plan. I bought mine in june 2021 and got it for 100k and less than 10k for my lithium so very worth it to me.
Scott thanks for reviewing the Solis PX.
Appreciate your Owner’s point of view. Very helpful to others
Isn’t the price pretty close to double what it was only two years ago? That alone is a dealbreaker for me.
Camper Van prices are sorta silly, but maybe coming down “?
No microwave. -3
Thx Scott
no microwave -3
Who needs a microwave in a van?
Needs a microwave
@@gosmall.livelarge Why? They use a lot of energy and a small induction stove is about as fast.
Taking the bathroom down to reality....but cassette toilets rule
Glad your cassette toilet works well for you !
I love the idea of a cassette toilet, especially with the outside access. If you're not staying in r.v. campsites, the fees for dumping tanks is ridiculous. Plus the weight of blackwater tanks, and hoses and fittings to mess with. I've done it all, and wouldn't miss the BW holding tank.
Live ???
Huh?
Not dodge I just can’t run dodge to many probs and they let the government buy them
Got it
Not for me toilet big problem
Mary !!
i cant comprehend why they dont have a TV and microwave???? Winnie Marketing is clueless????
Thanks trunk
