its just that we expect better.
Artists should be free, and they should not adapt to any specific audience, in that case: the audience that expects an "authentic" clip with tuareg villages in the desert or something. For some reason, Bombino obviously agreed to release this more arty, clean and esthetic clip. To me, this clip seems to be a tribute to the tuareg culture, but from a new point of view that is not this "authentic tuareg esthetics" that people expect. He did not adapt, he took his freedom and did what he wanted to do as a modern artist in the modern world. I dont know the guy, but he's probably someone who likes to try things, otherwise he probably wouldnt be playing with an electric guitar and a rockdrum on tour in europe, maybe he would be in the desert playing some traditionnal instruments.
I don't see anything insulting in this clip. I think it draws a blur on the frontier between what is seen as "visual art" in the western culture(video/dance) and traditionnal culture. and I guess it's probably a good thing?

Would’ve been better with real Touareg footage especially if it’s a traditional wedding.
Come on, like other nations don't mix folklore with modern art, too :-) Ever heard of folklore rock or seen a folk dance performance in modern costumes? :-) Bombino doesn't make traditional Touareg music, he likes to experiment, he's a rock guitarist and he's produced a bit of a psychedelic video (Azamane Tiliade), so I think we could be lenient :-) IMHO, this proves that he's one of the bridges between Niger and the world, in a good way.
I was shocked when I saw the dance, too, and sad that I wouldn't see a traditional Touareg dance... but then I thought "well, at least we won't think that Touaregs live in a chocolate box, or in a kind of an open-air musem of traditional culture" :-)
Edit: I wrote that this is an original Touareg video at first, but I'd confused the credits for the song with the credits for the video, sorry.

Yes, it's weird when you're expecting traditional Touareg dancing. But for me, if judged apart from the song, it's very good modern ballet, even mesmerizing.
