  • In this episode we explore an Island called Biskopsön and find the beautiful nature there. We were really amazed by the beauty of this place and can highly recommend visiting.

    Yeah - was just going to comment, before you said it: must be really enjoyable editing and looking back at last summers adventures during this dark season. And we're enjoying your vids as well, so thanks for sharing them! Now it's down hill towards spring and lovely archipelago experiences! (and, as always, appresciating the great learnings!)

      Isn't that the reason that we all love to see these films at the winter 👍🏻

    Hi! Nice to get some summer vibes. Thanks! We noticed you in Rödhamn last summer (you left a few minutes after we arrived). When are the Åland videos coming? 🤗

      Hi there, ahh was good to meet you briefly then. I am a little behind on the editing, the Åland videos will be coming in the near 3 months. Cheers

    I would have one question. At this video you were sailing with main only, but when thinking of various summer winds and your sailing in archipelago, how much you use jib, code0, gennaker?

    • @SailingAurora
      @SailingAurora  6 місяців тому

      We use the jib and the main quite alot. The code 0, we use when the winds are light and not gusting too much through the islands and the gennaker we are just getting used to and we use that one in light stable downwind conditions. Also it depends on whether we can be botherd to rig up the bigger sails, it takes 20 mins or so. I hope that helps

      Thanks. We just bought a small and pretty flat helix gennaker. But no idea yet how much we would actually use it.

    Your club island, Västerön, are guest boats welcome there?

    • @SailingAurora
      @SailingAurora  5 місяців тому +1

      Hi Ulrik, it's not a club island we regularly go to like Sandön as it's a little far out. We are not members but we could pay a small fee to stay there and use electric, so none members are also welcome. I read it here also: lignabatsallskap.se/v%C3%A4ster%C3%B6/%C3%B6vernattning.html
      I hope it helps. Cheers, Chris

    I take boat away from the shore line during the night time, no need to go to shore then. It's not recommended to use trees to tie lines, maybe you did not know. Like your videos 👍

      We also move the boat further away if we know the wind could be a problem, really didn't see that one coming before. Interesting, why are the trees not so great for tieing to? We usually double wrap so the line doesn't chafe. Cheers, Chris

      It's excellent for tieing to, but not for trees, bark will come off and roots will break, especially rock islands@@SailingAurora

      @@mikaoyry9144 Too true, trees are the best when well rooted, but on the rock islands they can sometimes uproot

    How are your expensive laminate sails holding up after 5 years? I hear those have a tendency to fail spectacularly after 6-7 years.
    Also, could we ever expect an adventure to Estonia some day?

      The sails are doing really well actually. We have had them serviced a couple of times but they are holdin up really well. Now they are 5 years old and have done some charter aswell, pretty sure they have plenty of life in them.
      Estonia... theres an idea, can you recommend some great places to visit so I can check them out? Cheers
