That's amazing! Downloading the app changed my life - it literally cured my cancer! I pointed this app on my face and it crashed at the beginning but then told me to go to the doctor! Now I'm living happily 10 years after the surgury. Greetings Michel jackson
The thing is that everyone can see your tag. Like, a newspaper can tag the picture on the front page to the video of where the picture got taken. So for example if the newspaper talks about "President to consider stepping off" & Shows a picture, You can use your phone over that picture to go straight to a video where the president is saying that he might step off. This would be AMAZING for something like Google Glass, Since you wouldent even have to take out your phone. Checkout SixthSense :)
This will really change the way we consume media and make the world more interesting. Power and flexibility is already in our palms, we just need to innovate on. Great video, loved it. Thumbs up #TED #IdeasWorthSharing
I'm a primary school teacher and I used aurasma to make this a demo in February. I think this has real possibilities for augmenting, presenting and sharing children's work. My link is blocked, but just search for "Hayden teachernz" on UA-cam.
Imagine if you applied this to text books. Calculators that teach you how to do the math rather than how to just the answer. Or how bout applying this to chemistry stuff. Imagine pointing it chemical equations and seeing whats happening... Or how bout something like a tricorder where it analyzes what a material is based on it's spectrum and all that jazz...
That guy's got some balls, showing everything live and completely relying on his technology throughout his whole talk.. Well done! Could have gone terribly wrong :D
i couldn't determine what happened at the end with that wave. it looked normal to me, did the application modify that video as in all the previous examples in the talk?
I have actually worked with a very similar project. That's why I am super-curious about how he did NOT mention how many images can be stored in the database before it starts to confuse things!! My algorithm had a limit at about 50 photo-style images @ 15 fps. I imagine theirs is better, but I am certain the limit is not above a few hundred!! This severely impairs the things it can be used for!
Can someone explain to me the process that she did: to attach the video to his card. so how can make AR apps? and if you also know if i can use AR apps on Asus Nexus 7? thank you
He says at the beginning "So wouldn't it be amazing if our phones could see the world in the same way we do? ... but now we've moved to a world where actually this has become possible." And then proceeds to do an overlay-video-over-image demo. So this is the same way we see the world, is it?
@@aspiringbillions8353 Well this is easily doable with today's tech very efficiently and I'm sure there are plenty of apps that already can do this. Turns out there's no demand for this and it's seen as a gimmick. It's fun to play around with once or twice but nobody's going to use it on a day to day basis. It was an exciting concept to see 9 years ago though. I guess we suck at predicting the future :D
I would be more interested in seeing that pattern recognition ability applied to an AI of some description to see what its capable of in terms of problem solving.
What is wrong with the audience? I hope they make efforts to put their hands together even if they have had a long day. The presenter totally deserved it!!!
I recently realized, if anybody is seriously interested in influencing the direction of the world, (YOU HAVE A CHANCE) you should get into either writing science fiction novels or producing science fiction movies!
cool! I love watching this from 2017 and looking back at the advances (we now have Unity and Vuforia, both STILL free, and transitioning to marketless GPS based AR along with the latest gadget: the Microsoft HoloLens and the one I have : Samsung Galaxy Gear VR)...and comments!!! haha 😄 hello from the past 👋
aurasma.com but for the life of me I can't figure out how to actually use it.. the UI is not very user-friendly, although it was many months ago maybe they have since updated the app
6:40 She looks so happy. Let's ignore the innovative gadgety thing being discussed. Humanity NEEDS to know what's up with her face and how it got to that point.
i failed to see anything amazing about this project, any average programmer could do this, put a video in a image?, image recognition ? what was difficult about that, plz someone explain to me.
That smacked of something a cheap vfx artist and a Pentium 3 computer could do.. link it up with something like google and we could see results. But right now it's little more than tagging a photo on facebook. Notice the very end and you will see that at the moment it is very glitchy unless pre processed at a studio, like the painting and router.
The tech is good but it won't be used until we get products like Google's and Vuzix's glasses out in a few months. I can't see anyone taking the time to take out their phones or ipads for this.
10 years later this is still Phenomenal, I feel like I'm soo late to the Extended reality journey, well here I go
that harry potter moment at 2:20
The amazed woman in the middle 6:40 LMAO!
Ha that's funny
HAHAH- she is clearly not involved in the tech-world lol
I saw that too! cracked me up... :)
LOL!

This is something Ive worked on (AR) for a few years now.. Bonne job explaining.
Yess. Its even showed on this TED.
It's called Aurasma. Just look in the description below the video.

Revive is an app already available in iTunes and it does exactly this

I have family living there, as well as in Malta. I love all the islands. I miss Gozo so much though :(
This is amazing! Its like the newspaper in Harry Potter! Literally turned fiction into actuality!
Imagine if you applied this to text books. Calculators that teach you how to do the math rather than how to just the answer. Or how bout applying this to chemistry stuff. Imagine pointing it chemical equations and seeing whats happening...

The guy at 3:23 looks like the villain in The Princess' Bride. INCONCEIVABLE!
i just finished ma first Augmented Reality application now thats how i read ma paper thanx alot for the awesome idea
That guy's got some balls, showing everything live and completely relying on his technology throughout his whole talk.. Well done!
Could have gone terribly wrong :D

This is absolutely incredible
Theosibilities with this are endless!!! I want it!
Pranav Mistry had this idea a few years ago with his Sixth Sense technology (Search youtube for that TED Talk) Wonder what happened to him.
When will that be available for contact lenses?
It is there, I just installed it from google play.
Thank you for you answer. Do you know how to do exactly the same process as her: attaching a video to a card or image?
It's like the Sixth Sense we saw in 2009, just using augmented reality instead.
Cool stuff though.
This talk made me think of C.W Leadbeater's Man Visible and Invisible.
Brilliant! How does it work though??
Only problem being that I already saw this on an advert for a birthday card sending company :/
He says at the beginning "So wouldn't it be amazing if our phones could see the world in the same way we do? ... but now we've moved to a world where actually this has become possible." And then proceeds to do an overlay-video-over-image demo. So this is the same way we see the world, is it?
This is absolutely mind blowing!!!
Still in early stages. Can't wait to see this technology 5 years from now.
9 years later, still this is on developmental stage🙃🙃

I could not hear him over the celebration party over at apple
anyone know what the APP IS CALLED?.. woulda luv to get it
Any chance you go to Gozo?
I would be more interested in seeing that pattern recognition ability applied to an AI of some description to see what its capable of in terms of problem solving.
Was going to say that he seems to like his shade-of-the-evening, but I thought not too many people would get the reference.
Tamara - as in Tamara Roukaerts, in the description? :p
What is wrong with the audience? I hope they make efforts to put their hands together even if they have had a long day. The presenter totally deserved it!!!
Google should now regret not including a rear camera on their Nexus 7 tablet.
pretty incredible idea.
I recently realized, if anybody is seriously interested in influencing the direction of the world, (YOU HAVE A CHANCE) you should get into either writing science fiction novels or producing science fiction movies!
This is amazing.
Looks like it was called Auraneysm or Aneurysm. Don't quote me on that though, just going by what it showed briefly in the video.
cool! But what if 2 videos of the same object (say the eiffel tower) is uploaded, which one does it play?
aurasma.com but for the life of me I can't figure out how to actually use it.. the UI is not very user-friendly, although it was many months ago maybe they have since updated the app
A Day in Glass 2.......Corning. Awesome.
Why are we doing this digitally. We can do it naturally. Mushrooms can also augment the world! :D
you'd be watching irrelevant Ads half the time when google gets a piece of this pie.
Have a look at 6:39 - There is an extremely grumpy looking woman and an EXTREMELY excited looking woman sitting newt to each other - hahaha priceless!
That's exactly what I thought! Especially when it showed the painting, I immediately thought of the paintings around Hogwarts. It's astounding!!
Why not both?
what is the app called :) ?
3:05 Ikea needs that!
He ran off like his car was being towed. was it because the video was twisting image stabilisation wise?
did someone get beat?
All I could think of when I saw augmented was "I never asked for this."
Is this ever gonna come out for the app store because if it is I would pay like $999999999999999 for it :)
6:40 She looks so happy. Let's ignore the innovative gadgety thing being discussed. Humanity NEEDS to know what's up with her face and how it got to that point.
DUDE!!! :O WHERE IS THIS TECH!?!?!?!?
Cool tech-demo bro ...
This + Googles Glasses = Yes.
Truly Amazing!
6:40 WOW that blonde girl is super excited lol
I wonder how long before we get 'neurovision' instead of television and are bombarded from advertising inside our own brains?
whats the app name ?
please,I want the official name of this app
So awesome!
The app is called Aurasma. It's only for Android and iOS devices so people with symbian are yet again left behind.
Aurasma
6:40 That girl is a little to excited
Awesome.
Yep and yet england has just been rain non stop for almost 2 months.
3:22 that guy was not amused by this! lol
omg 6:40 is the lulz, god damnit...
It's not because of the presentation. Her face has been like that since we had a night together back in 2009. True story.
Google Glasses I think they're called. Project Glass on Google+
Great, a new kind of advertising...
I like it but I would of preferred the talk to be be about augmented reality generallybe more neutral
yes
Put this in my google glasses...
7:56 - second lady on the bottom left: :NOT BAD:
This is awesome !!! Saw the video on my phone, 3 sec later I downloaded the app, 3 sec later my room was filled with dragons and dinosaurs and shit :D
Interesting!
I kept waiting for the talking bear. He never shows up.
But why on Apple..go for Android or open source........
i failed to see anything amazing about this project, any average programmer could do this, put a video in a image?, image recognition ? what was difficult about that, plz someone explain to me.
AWESOME!!!!!
good talk though.

This reminds me with Hogwarts castle's wall picture frames in Harry potter
Kid: "It's maggggik" Douche: "No it's not"
6:39 The woman in the lower middle of the screen. That face freaks me out!
Apply this to eye glasses.
Great stuff but did anyone else get stuck on his blue lips?
HAHAHA look at the Blonde Lady at 6:39
yeah its like newspaper in Harry Potter! It's so cool
way cool app
Amber alerts & other emergency responders will certainly benefit from this! Now, all I need is a HUD to wear!
The tech is good but it won't be used until we get products like Google's and Vuzix's glasses out in a few months. I can't see anyone taking the time to take out their phones or ipads for this.
Yeah, this way the advertising industry can comprise half of GDP. One third wasn't enough.
