- I grew up in Northeast Philadelphia, where drinking in the woods and never leaving are some favorite past times. If you're thinking of moving here, there are some things that you should probably know. Respect the birds, don't get in the way, and get to liking 'twea.

Legit video, thank you!
For everyone else: you get the real Philadelphia (Fluffia) accent here, so now you know how we talk. Classic sounds you’ll hear:
wooder: water
wooder eyes: water ice aka Italian ice, million times better than a slushee, icee, snow cone, etc., and nothing better on a hot day
yous: plural of you, use it to address a group of people. Can also say “all yous” or “alla yous”
shhhtreet: street
shhhtrick: strict
sawf pressels: soft pretzels, what we eat every day
Skookull aka the expressway: Schuykill - the I-76 highway through the area, more traffic than I-95, or the river next to it
Blue Route: I-476, highway through Delco, gets you from the airport to Conshy
Conshy, pronounced cunshee: Conshohocken
Delco: Delaware County, an attitude
scrapple: pork breakfast product, eaten with breakfast syrup or ketchup. What’s in it? Everything but the squeal
tau: towel
telly pole: telephone pole
yo: how to address someone, get their attention, a greeting, or just a display of emotion
jawn: anything
Glad to know, Philly English sounds really harsh and aggressive. Going to have to remember that people are not trying to be ass holes they just sound like they are
I will say, that while we have a tendency to act a certain way, Philly people will have your back no matter what.
@@stasandco I am considering moving to Philly from Miami with some freinds in the spring of 2024. Was originally planning to wait until 2027 to leave my beloved 305. But DeSatin and his GOP lackies in the legislature are forcing the issue. Add in the increasing climate risks, spiking housing costs,
insurance, and you have yourself an untenable situation. Rent is now averging 2,800$ per month. Property insurance is now over $500 per month. Sea level rise is already compromising the cities drainage system. They are at least half a dozen damaging flash floods in an given year. Extreme heat is becoming chronic. Anytime the power goes out during a summer storm it can be dangerous with heat indicies of 100-110f being common. It used to be that Miami was a safe blue bubble in a red state. But the state has now overrided the city at every turn. Want to help undocumented immigrants integrate by giving them an ID? Overruled... Want to help fight addiction with safe injection site's? Overruled... Want to protect the environment banning the use of fertilizers during the rainy season? Overruled... Want to reduce gun violence by banning assault weapons high capacity clips? Overruled... The list goes on and on, climate change was always going to force me to leave Miami, Just didn't it want to be so soon... On the positive side, Philly does looking promising as a new home.
I questioned the accent, he was going hard, until I heard Cyo. Fully legit.
Yo! Sorry, I missed a HUGE one in the video:
MAC machine: ATM. Was originally called Money Access Card by the bank (Girard Bank?) that introduced it here in the 80s, and the name stuck. No one else will understand that phrase. Usage (perfectly done in the video): gotta hit the MAC machine
Also, nicely done on the PA inspection stickers in the windshield of the guy in traffic on the Schuylkill. As I said: legit video
I am from Erie, PA. Lived in Philly for 3 years. I cannot believe how warm it is in Philly. It's sunny here ALL the time. It rarely rain. it sprinkles here. Where is the snow! It rarely snows in Philly. The summers are horrendous. I do like Philly, however a little to warm for me.
I love philly!! But I hate the heat!!! Born and raised and I’d take Arizona heat any day!!!!
@@pianosistah you should come put here to Fresno California. It's a mild 115 in the summer.
@@pianosistah Philly rocks. Best kept secret on the east coast.
It rains all the time.
Appreciated the heads up on the City, Coming from Boston, I think I got the idea, thank you!
Moving to philly soon hopefully this definitely helps lmao, GoBirds
Man, I hope it helps too LOL Go Birds
move somewhere better ....
Did you move? How is it?
This was the video I needed
Yo you’re freaking hilarious! Great tips. Thanks again!
Commenting to boost you for the algorithm. For your context, I've been looking up NYC vlogs, but no..... NYC's too expensive, so Philly is another cool option that's been getting more hype compared to the other cities in the North East. This video, at the time of this comment, is your most popular video. I feel like I don't see as many Philly vloggers or content creators as much which is why it's so cool to watch people make content on this city. I could see you making like 1-2 more videos about Philly to reel people in and explore a large width of content on your channel. Keep up the great work!
Thanks, I appreciate it!
Great video! Love the authentic, no B/S approach.
Thanks!
Solid list!
Love this
Thank you!!
More coming soon
Thank you for this video. I want to move to Philadelphia very soon!
Incredible
Seriously the best viddi informing the ignorant and know nothings of the intricacies of the city. SO much more useful than weather this, museum that.
Really funny stuff
Face it South Jersey is really East Philadelphia Go Birds!
I grew up in South Jersey but always went to Philly for Concerts, Theater, Art Movies and Sports. We had a family business there. When I got married 1999 we moved to the heart of Center City and I will never move!! I'm divorced now but I live in Washington Square where I can walk everywhere. Theaters and Museums are fantastic. All Sports venues a 15 minute Train Ride away. It has so many flavors. Chinatown and South Philly. Irish and Polish areas. Fishtown and Passyunk Avenue are like SOHO and The Village in NYC. And NYC is a short distance to boot. BEST CITY!!!
Cheers from Wisconsin! Sending love to Philly!
Growing up in Camden county NJ then living in pa this guy is exactly right
Lmao got the corn ad music as the intro
Hi, my mom and my grandparents are from the Reading area so I'm somewhat familiar with the high quality of PA's hoagies. I was wondering, are they generally available at most pizza places? Or where do you get them? I grew up in Boston (although I haven't lived there forever) and when I was young all pizza places sold generally excellent subs, but most of those places have closed. What's the hoagie situation in Philly nowadays?
With every spot in Philly trying to be “it,” it’s tough to go wrong almost anywhere in Philly. Honestly, swing by the Italian market or any mom and pop shop in south Philly and you’ll find a good one. Tortorices in Rittenhouse is excellent too!
Sold!
Funny. Excellent culture commentary with light hearted humor.
I want to live philadelphia , because is my third home and i like the snow.
See this is a man I’d invite to dinner on the house! Stas you in sir!?
Chase, dyou eat
@@stasandco of course!! I also am a chef for a living lol
Looooooove that
@@stasandco gotta come through the fairmount area for dinner!
Bet
Thank you for checking this video out! Please feel free to suggest content and share! You're the best :*
It's the city of brotherly shove and no city can be called great when it breaks the federal laws of the United States which is allowing the city to become an illegal sanctuary city.. also it's run by a Looney leftist/Marxist Mayor and a George Soros bought and payed for D.A. who let's criminals go free or very little jail time...The city has a violent crime epidemic with Shootings and Killings 24/7...You got a lot of nerve saying Philly is great. .It's a corrupt, evil town full of corrupt politicians where innocent children are getting shot and killed by criminals running wild and free ..And just so you know and understand I was born and raised in Northeast Philly and left that S***h*** city decades ago when it started really going downhill. .

me in Philadelphia after hearing 32 gunshots in the past 48 hours 😐 🧐
He spot on with everything. Write these tips down before you come. Lol
I moved there a year ago. Now I’m hooked on tranq 🤦🏼♂️
You're welcome
I felt safer living in center city than in northeast philly (margaret st) which was like some white trash mecca. Tips: hope ya don't mind walking alot, parking sucks. Buy a bike (with bike lock) go basically anywhere in city u want. Watch ur back if walking alone at night. If someone asked u for change be polite and move on. Some people get hostile. Overall a fun experience (5yr resident) you'll meet people from every corner of the world.
Are you from the Mayfair section of NE Philly? You got the accent.
Close, more Bensalem
Bensalem is where my mom lives
I visites philly and stayed in chinatown near the convention center. I felt fit right in because im Asian lolz. Being from texas I love how commutable the city is. I FEEL i can literally live without a car over there. And the other cities i like are just 2 hrs away via amtrak nyc and dc. Not sure what the job market looks like or apartment cost in chinatown that could be the deciding factor. PS being a long time iverson fan finally saw wells fargo center
Ok, I love Philly, its my home town. And I notice that people from outside of Pennsylvania are moving to Philly, i.e. I met a couple who moved hear from San Franciso. However, the greatest city in the world?
How many cities you know where you can go from a shooting to ribs sold outside a tax liberty on the same block?
New Yorkers keep coming!
@@GIRLRAZR is that a good thing or a bad thing?
@GIRLRAZR new Yorkers stay away. Y'all are causing it to be too expensive for the natives
How do locals feel about it’s always sunny?
Regardless of location, Always Sunny is one of the best tv shows ever written. But the locals love it too
@@stasandco Its always sunny in Philly
you're the fucking man, man.
Tyty
Native, want to go far away from inner city or atleast a better area. Neighborhoods always depend.
Just stay in Center City.
Very funny
Dang I’m a Astros ,Heat ,Tampa bay , and a Florida state fan ima be in for a bad time😂
how would you say the transit system is like? I can't drive cause I'm epileptic, so part of my reasoning to coming to Philly has a lot to do with that... Do you feel it's reliable? I'm also a nurse, so I gotta do 12 hour shifts and I want to make sure if I'm out there I didn't miss it or something 💀
I'm sorry for the late reply! The transit system is ok. Not as extensive as NYC or DC, but the Septa bus is very useful!
West Chester Co.?
😂😂😂
Seize the gap!!!
"Bucks Co"???
What cheesesteak spot would you recommend that's not Geno's or Pat's?
For my money? Lorenzo’s (by the famous Angelo’s) is the best
@@stasandco Cool-Thanks bro.
Ok thank so now I have

YES IT IS. THE GREATEST CITY IN THE WHOLE WORLD!
Philly Philly!
😂
Philly is a big and diverse city. It doesn't go so far as to have separate boroughs, but it has many distinct communities/neighborhoods. The suburbs are also distinct. In each the residents dress, eat and act differently. The only thing they have in common is the arrogant notion that their isolated point of view represents all of Philly. And--NO--there is no "Philly Accent"; that's Boston.
For those who are thinking about moving to Philly.I'll save you the Trouble.DON'T.I'm from Philly and I can give multiple reasons why No One in their Right Minds should do it.
Are there any better cities to live in Pennsylvania?
@@CallMeShiba Lancaster is one.I can't think of any others that are better.
Philly is dirty, we have many homesless people sadly, we have KENSINGTON (ZOMBIELANND) very close to fishtown and northern liberties places with extramely high rent thaay makke outsiders believe iss a good place to live. Traffic is wild, most people are always mad, i like the public transportation but some do drugs inside the train but what can you do you? still need to make it to work. Apartments are like shoe boxes and they are reallly expensive 1300 one room if you find something for less is prrobable near an insufferable place meaning dirtier, loud music all the time, drugs etc ... Many good restaurants. Schools sucks. if you want to have some peace and quiet you need a car to go for an hour drive outside philly. But i like how you can find a job everywhere.
Guess with all the gunshot victims dying, there is more room for people who want to come here!
As I begin to move there…
@@stasandco it’s not all around the city ! This city is huge ,be aware of your surroundings in any city
Most people in Philly will never face gun violence.
@@pianosistahLook Fear trolls only look at Fox.
Respectfully, this is not a guide on Philly; this is a guide on what a sports fan thinks of the town. It doesn't really provide insight for those seeking to move there.
Almost like...parody????
Def don't bring lil joey and marry til the grow up
One more tip - If your still tempted to move to Philly lookup some videos of Kensington
Hey, Kensington isn't the only thing in Philly!
Hmm..thought this would be helpful but i didnt understand 99% of your references lol
That's alright, thanks for watching anyway haha!
If you are thinking about moving to Philly .... stop thinking about it .... go somewhere else ...
This is lies bets city where at this is the most depressing city ever
Don't move to Philly ain't shit here
Ayo we got a bell with a crack in it
Don’t move here lol
NEW YORK TAKEOVER PHILLY IN FULL EFFECT!
Stop moving here, please. Thanks.

NEW YORK TAKEOVER IN FULL EFFECT!
The crime man what about the crime 😞 im moving here and I regret tf out of it.
YOU WILL LOVE IT!
Please. For the love of God. Name me ONE major American city that doesn't have crime?
Born and raised West philly
Very racist and segregated
People there are mean
Where is the least racist section of Philly? The most liberal and democratic?
@@we8608 You’ll love Kensington, brother. Nice and accepting for all👍

Most important tip.: Do not move to Philly
New Yorkers keep coming. Cant stop it!
Hmm... Could cover a bit more of North and West Philly. South Philly represents the whole a little too much too often imho... :/ But other than that, spot on. 🤌🏼
