    Building ponds is so nice, im the dude in our company who welds the foils together and that feeling when your done and it looks perfect (maybe one or two air inlets) after water inlet and the customers approve you. Atm a 200k Litres pound with a self cleaning seperated filter mashine (drum filter and bio filter separated because to big haha) Greetings from Germany :) BTW such a nice work

    Interesting/amusing …. That you have to reverse the [normal] position of the windows to open them on the outside over the pond, they tend to have rubbish locks, but I think fish are not a particularly interesting thing and difficult for burglars to steal 😁

    • @AdamJulyan
      @AdamJulyan  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks. No it's a filtreau drum once filled the gasket leaked on the drums drive shaft becasue its a poor design and about 6 months of running the drum gearbox seized up fortunately it has been running a year with no further problems but it was a massive pain to work with.
      Ive seen a few Draco drums they seam pretty good but ive never installed one.

    Great build. Did that filter box also have non solvent weld Flexi pipe?
    With the 1.5" solvent Flexi pipe, how much does it need supporting to stop it wobbling about when water is pumping through it? Thinking of using 1.5" solvent weld Flexi on a vari 10000 pump

    • @AdamJulyan
      @AdamJulyan  3 роки тому +1

      I just used rubber boots to attach the class E pipe to the filter.
      It depends in this case it didn't need support as it wasn't in a position to sag but you need to make sure that it wont move and put pressure on the joints at each end.as they wont last too long if the pipes weight is pulling on the joints.

    When doing our extension the builder put 4 inch of insulation under the concrete floor, wonder if it would be worth doing on a pond.

    • @AdamJulyan
      @AdamJulyan  3 роки тому

      yeah the more insulation the better it might be a good way to do it as you can still slope the side to the drain. Not sure how the concrete would deal with all the weight of the water though.

  • @transform9883
    @transform9883 2 роки тому

    You should follow the building regulations for insulating. Regardless of what it is, from a box to a space ship to a pond, there is a standard for insulating, especially the necessity for a continuous layer of insulation with minimal cold bridges and no, the ground is not insulating, even at depth. Time and time again it has been proven as a heat sink, regardless of thermal mass. If you do the job properly in terms of insulation you will save your client a lot of money in the long run. Also wood is a poor thermal insulator when you compare it to purpose mage insulation. All those studs not clad in insulation are also cold bridges and if those windows aren't south facing, they should not be there. The world has come a long way in how to design and build for energy efficiency and thermal retention - stop using old methods that are still held in the koi community

    You don't have "very good insulation", that sentence should not have been used in this video. I have a book for you to read; get "The New Autonomous House" by Brenda and Robert Vale, it will teach you what very good insulation is and what causes insufficiencies/weaknesses in insulation selection and implementation;.
