- The Hall of Fame Interview with Duke Snider from 2005. A graceful center fielder with a picture-perfect swing, Duke Snider was the biggest bat in the Brooklyn Dodgers' potent lineup of the 1950s. He hit 40 or more homers five consecutive times and led all batters in home runs and RBIs during the '50s. The Duke of Flatbush hit four homers in two different World Series (1952 and '55), clouting a total of 11 Series home runs and 26 Series RBIs.

Duke Gil is in the Hall with you!!!
Since I grew up in Brooklyn, I was a devoted Dodger fan and being left handed of course Duke was my idol. As a child, I rode my bike to his house and got his autograph. A class act.
@SamuelClerico Hello, I really like your story. Can you maybe write a little bit more about it? I love things like that. Memories always intrigue me. Even remembering the weather. Anyway, Best wishes.
I was a child in those days but an insane Brooklyn fan by age 4. For 5 years in the 50’s the Duke was the equal of Mays, Mantle, Musial, Ted. He is considered to have had the best arm to include Mickey and Willie.
Nice
Duke Snider was one of my mom's(as well as many others' favorite) Dodgers of all time. I, unfortunately was born way too late to have ever watched him play. Certainly one of the all-time greats. The Duke of Flatbush was second to NONE in the hearts of Dodger fans. Willie Mays and Mickey Mantle will all have their fans but Duke Snider was a star long before the others were in the bigs.
Duke is the man!
My favorite Dodger.
