You're a great pep talk for independent filmmakers everywhere. My goal is to make my first feature film before I'm 40.
fuck yeah, man, thats a good goal. go for it!
Hey dude, I have the exact same goal! Good luck! You got this
I find your characters to be very compelling and relatable (for better or worse). Thank you for making these films that mean so much to me and that encourage me to believe I am capable of changing for the better. I appreciate your work.
This is a fantastic insight and really encouraging. Thank you.

Sending this to everyone I collaborate with.
This guy is one of the best filmmakers working today. If his first three films are indicative of how his career will go, he will be one of the best ever. There's already celebrated vets I think he is better than!
Finally caught The Beta Test here in the UK. What a wonderfully shot original movie. Can't wait for what you do next Jim!
Congrats Jim! Really love seeing the process unfold. Will definitely need to check the movie out! Can't wait to do things on the scale that you do one day! 😁
Jim - I love seeing the credits here! Excited to see the film.
One of my favorite writers/director. TWOSH was so good
Hi, Jim! I discovered The Wolf of Snow Hollow and watched it blind (no trailer, no synopsis, etc.) and I had the BEST time with it. Was one of my favorites of that year. I caught The Beta Test the other night and it’s definitely a film that needs to be viewed more than once to appreciate, I think.
I’m such a big fan of your writing style and the kinds of characters you create (and the specific brand of neurosis and anxiety that they tend to share). Your characters can say a lot without saying much, and when they do say a lot, it’s that much funnier. You’re one of those filmmakers that I wish Hollywood would just give a giant bag of money and let you do whatever you feel like doing, and then let them thank you for it afterwards. All the best to you and your team, and I’m looking forward to whatever you’re working on next.
I loved watching this and the realization that making movies is just imagination + Premiere + about a hundred good & talented friends.
I just watched the movie a little while ago and loved it. Watching this gave me an even greater appreciation for it! Hope you keep making interesting and original things like this!
All the love to chef Jim and his mad ways of baking movies.
Thanks Jim
Just watched all three of your films in the last few days! Great stuff! Love your writing/directing/acting style. Cheers!
You my man are an inspiration. I joined the military so I could get GI bills to pay for college so I could get a chance in life to make independent films! I love watching your UA-cam and movies man keep it up!
Thanks for the continued inspiration, Jim!
inspiring as always!
Loved your performance Loved the movie
Huge inspiration! Thank you for this! I work as a pa on productions non stop in LA and have no time to work on writing my feature. You just gave me that motivation to take less work and make time. 🤙
Thanks for making and sharing this. So exciting to watch all of your work be created!
Watched The Wolf of Snow Hollow, fantastic loved it...
It's really cool to see both the creative process and the camaraderie between creative leads/friends
Already bought a copy, really excited to watch it!
So neat seeing this process. I watched this because my family friend plays Jaclyn and I enjoyed it a lot. Great film!
Great insight! Appreciate you putting things like this together for indie filmmakers. Excited to check out The Beta Test! Congrats Jim!
Cummings is awesome. I love his acting and his films. The stories are always entertaining, but it's the characters that are amazing.
I loved the movie and your reactions! well done!
Inspirational as always! Keep doing what you do and inspiring us all to do the same!
Love to see he acts calmer in real life
SO good. Glad this BTS exists.
Who composed the music in the scene where he hammers the guy at the computer...blissful!!!
Just got done watching it. Amazing! Definitely love your rants, you kill it. Can't wait to see anything else you make in your lifetime. Much love!
Congratulations to you all, Jim. This is wonderful.
This video is superb. I loved the movie, Jim and Team. You, and others like you, are the future of filmmaking. Good energies and good luck to all.
I would be stoked to work with this guy on a movie.

So Olivia is the Encounter girl?
How dare they Village us in Wolf of snow Hollow! Ha!
Video is awesome! I would say some spoilers for the beta test in the location scouting part.
This is really inspiring
Go go guy ! Thanks a lot for your work, from france. Can't wait to see this new creation !
This is really great, Jim. Thanks for sharing. It's super informative and a great look behind the camera.
Amaaaaaaaaazing! Thanks for having the foresight to film this and thanks for sharing it!
Gosh I can't wait to watch this
Great film Jim can’t wait to see you what you do with your next film as your first 3 were great films as well as social satire. Keep up the great work!
Inspired stuff. I have enjoyed all 3 of your feature films made to date and look forward to watching your next project. 👍🏻
This was such a joy to watch.
Those iphone voice memos are the secret to indie feature foley actually
I reviewed Thunder Road a few years back and loved it (I believe you retweeted my review of it or something similar) and I just watched The Beta Test and have to say it was a great little movie and I wish more people knew about it!
G'damn! Hard not to be inspired by this! Keep it goin Jim and team!!
Thanks for the film and the behind-the-scenes view. Shot on Arri Alexa?
Love this so much
Awesome
Awesome.
Doing foley with your iPhone is fucking awesome!
Really inspirational. Fuck the gatekeepers. Love you Jim.
we dig u and ur fun flix , sir !
Love watching the process!
I guess when you figured out how to make great films for $300,000 you also know how to make great documentaries about such films. Man, you guys are crazy talented and sweet, too. It's so cool that you are just getting started and we get to follow your career from now on. And I have yet to watch The Beta Test again, since it only opens in France in mid-december. But seeing all this perfectly unfolding and watching this video is so cool.
I could have gone without knowing about the kissing foley.
movie-making is ugly.
@@coolandhappy nah its great. love me some kisses
Keep 'em coming!
Love the video! When you read all the character voices in the recording, do you say their names before their lines or alter your voice or…what?
Who co-directed this?
PJ McCabe
So Rad!
You know beta test is just going to rock so much ass
An inspiration as always! :)
incredibly inspiring
awesome vid jim. i may be dumb but what is with the girl in the diner at the end?
A few things
1: I loved the movie
2: It's so gratifying looking at these BTS videos with all the call sheets, schedules, safety meetings, etc. and thinking to myself "wow, maybe film school isn't a waste"
3: Who tf is playing Candy Crush at 6:02 ???
Film school is 100% a waste of time
Ho appena visto Thunder Road: BELLISSIMO!!!😄
fucking master! Got me pumped once again!
TAKE BACK THE POWER
Pretty late to the party in terms of hearing about this film and how it was funded. Very curious, since you mentioned the sale to IFC pretty much made a return on investment, if the wefunder investors have gotten their returns back yet? If not, would you mind explaining your timeline for achieving that to a curious independent filmmaker? Thanks in advanced for taking the time if you do.
WHATS NEXT I NEED TO KNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW
Planning to watch the film this weekend. Are there any spoilers in this video?
Just got finished watching The Beta Test. It was awesome and hilarious, and had some genuine scary moments. That opening scene shocked me, but for some reason I couldn't stop laughing internally about how he didn't take it well. This is probably the wrong idea but it makes me wanna make my own Beta Test letter as a prank and give one to my parents lol. I'd be there to see the reaction if there is any... if there isn't any then I'd have to have a heart to heart with whoever opened it lol.
I'm just waiting for the day when Jim will actually talk about folk filmmaking (putting films on youtube for free.. IE guys like Joel Haver and such)... Any thoughts on folk filmmaking Jim?
Joe Penna is buddy and he's done that before. I think it's a good way to do it! Our movies are too expensive to be able to do that, but I love it when others can make it work.
@@coolandhappy One of these days I'd love to have you on my podcast to talk about the future of indie filmmaking/distribution if your ever available and have a moment. Keep up the good work, I loved The Beta Test btw.
Does anyone know which hotel they shot the movie in? The scene where he meets up at the first beta test.
The Biltmore

Would you be willing to trade film-making tips. Will Smith is attached to my movie (and I did it without the Hollywood system!)
Another Triumph Jim can’t wait to watch your next project keep you the great work 👌🏻👏🏻👏🏻
You’re the man Jim, keep up the good shit.
