Hi Mike and Evonne, Didn't manage to catch your live show but got you on catch up. well done with the new equipment Mike👍 you might remember I wrote to you with regards to paying your non-residents tax without using the bank ? I'm assuming that you haven't figured that one out yet. ?You never mentioned it in the live show. I'm back in Spain next week, Tuesday 23rd of August. For 2 months, I can't wait to get away from this horrible rainy weather. Cheers, guys, Steve from Wales👍
Hi Steven, yes I remember, don’t know for sure but somebody told me you can pay your NRT at the bank even if you haven’t got an account there, so I have that to check. Also you may be able to pay it at the Suma office. We are doing our modelo 210 forms online before we come over so we will pay them at Sabadell bank before we close our account and ask if we can still pay the tax after. We will let you know what we find out. All the best Mike and Yvonne.
Regarding healthcare, UK retirees emigrating can still get access to Spanish Healthcare via the S1. The S1 form states you have coverage for the cost of doctor appointments, hospital treatment and prescriptions in Spain and the eligibility requirements are: You must be of retirement age (but a younger married partner can get it as a dependent). You must be eligible to receive the UK state pension. Spain must be your main country of residence.
Hi MrRipOffs, thank you very much for watching and taking the time to inform us about the S1. I'm sure many people on here will find it very informative. All the best Mike and Yvonne.
I watch every single one of your videos, so how could I have missed this??? I'm being mentioned in a "Between the lakes" video!! 😲 How cool is that!?! 👍👍😍
Hi guys, sorry missed you live, but thanks for the mention 😊😊, but it was not 1 bike nicked, they took both of mine😢😅. Lot of interesting points covered, good questions and answers, one member did ask about Lidls and squatters, my comments on those subjects is yes we do have Lidls in Torrevieja, but apart from the name and general lay out are very different, when I first walked in one 4 years ago, I naively expected it to be selling similar brands to the UK shops😊, but of course was not 😊😂😂😂. On the squatters question, my apartment had squatters in it prior to me purchasing it 4 years ago and believe others had been occupied as well, but since I have owned it have I have not heard of it happening since in our area. Back out about same time as you, but won't be bumping into you on our bikes until I replace them😂😂
Hi Brian, both bikes, wow that's a real pain and a big cost for you to recover. We have never heard of any squatter problems around our property. Let's hope, as you say, they have left us alone since they were at yours. You can watch the live ep from last night on our live ep replay playlist. We will always put them there after the event. Might bump into you later on. All the best Mike and Yvonne.
We too are going on Ryanair 29th August £22 odd east mids, £7 for the wise card you can withdraw 200 a month, worth it. Might see you in Alicante airport
Hi Tom, we will get in to Alicante from Leeds Bradford at about 18.00pm. Hoping to get the bus to Torrevieja at 19.00pm. Might see you if your there at the same time. Hope you have a nice trip. All the best, Mike and Yvonne.
Hi, Great video, appreciate all the advice. We are looking for a holiday home and the squatter question did put me off. However upon checking, if you report any squatter within 48hours it’s classed as burglary and the Spanish police will remove them. So cctv/alarm is imperative, after 48hours they have squatters rights and can take 12-18 months through the court system to remove them.
Hi Andrew, thanks for watching and for your very informative comment. That is something we didn’t know but we are pleased you have passed it on to us so we can pass it on to answer that question which does pop up from time to time. Thanks again, best wishes, Mike and Yvonne.
Hi Rhian, thanks for watching. The eps will always be put on our live replay playlist so no problem catching up with us if you miss the live. Hope you are well…best wishes Mike and Yvonne.
Hi Mike and Yvonne Been following you for a while. Really entertaining, many thanks Please would you tell me how you manage to avoid the UK TV licence for the time you are in Spain. We have always just kept the direct debit going. We have all the channels available to us when we are in Spain and it costs us €20 euros a year through the urbanisation, just feel like we're being robbed in the UK We bought an apartment in Los Altos and try to spend as much time in Spain as possible Thanks for a brilliant channel Bob & Anne
Hi Bob and Ann, we just tell them we are going away for 3 months and they cancel it. We are on a 3 month direct debit and if there’s any refund they pay it back. When we we come back we reinstate it. Think it’s a new one every time but as long as we are legal….,
Hi Mike & Evonne, Thank You for all your Great Content, we have ditched Sabadell for Wise, our DD’s have been transferred our next action is to fill our own tax forms rather than paying the solicitors, hope to catch up and buy you a beer, we drive up from Fuente Alamo👍
Hi Phil, well done for ditching Sabadell, I think a lot more in our position will do so in the near future. We have yet to walk into the branch and close the account ourselves, we will do it when we go back later this month. Once you have filled in the Modelo form 210 online you will find it relatively simple, I think, and it will be simple next time. We screen-recorded the whole thing so we wouldn't forget which boxes we ticked. So that's a nice saving per year of 120€ for the NRT plus 160€ for the bank charges. All the best, Mike and Yvonne.
Hi, thanks for watching and for your comment. We know of many people with Revolute, don’t know much about it but we have heard it is good and similar to Wise.
That’s one way of saving money, UK water meter, not being in the UK, you will save too, 2 of us in this bungalow and we go to Spain less than you (cats) 7x a year, 10 days or so, check that water meter out, £322 sounds alot
Hi Tom, thanks for watching, yes we probably could save a bit, might look into it again. They said it would be borderline but because we are away a lot we probably would. All the best, Mike and Yvonne.
@@BetweenTheLakes just moved from last bungalow we had, 3bed 2 bath and a jacuzzi still lower than bill, you can’t lower it too much as sewerage charges but you do save, good luck, love los locos beach

Hi, thanks for watching. We would say it's good for teenagers yes. there are plenty of clubs and late-night venues in town and in the international marina, a good water park in Torrevieja and one in La Siesta but you would need to check it out for yourself. It is certainly not a laid-back town there are some great venues for music food and drink....All the best with your search, see this one for a good night out...ua-cam.com/video/Ln4_2H62FoA/v-deo.html
hi to you both, following up on the answer you gave, what do you do now that virgin only cover you for 2 months, or do you only do 2 months a time now, tony
Hi Tony, we are now looking for a new company that do 90 days as we go for 90 days. We sacked Virgin because of this. The prices have gone up for us and we can’t find annual travel insurance that offer 90 days for our age so we have to get single trip for 90 days. (It’s from about £185.00).
Hi Barry, thanks for watching. We don’t have health insurance as we are non residents, we just have travel insurance as we only spend half the year in Spain.
This what the article says ...Torrevieja is set to promote its pink lake as a tourist attraction with authorised swimming. The project includes the regeneration of a large area of the lake and surroundings to allow bathers to avail of the restorative properties of the waters and mud. Currently, swimming in the salt lake is strictly prohibited and could result in a hefty fine. This is mainly due to safety concerns for swimmers following an incident a few years ago when a woman collided with salt mining equipment while swimming in the lake. Now however, the town hall wants to create a bathing area with news emerging that the local government team has ordered the start of the technical, legal and economic study for the establishment of ‘a restricted area for bathing’ at the iconic pink lake. University study A university study, commissioned by Torrevieja town hall, was carried out by scientists in Madrid and Alicante and confirms the therapeutic benefits of the salt waters and surrounding mineral-rich mud. Torrevieja’s Mayor, Eduardo Dolón said that it’s likely some of the old buildings would be refurbished for the purposes of the project and a preliminary study was commissioned and carried out by an architectural firm. He also said that in addition to a bathing area, it is proposed to have a museum space for the salt industry and research facilities for scientists to further study the therapeutic properties of the lake. The City Council and the salt mining company, Nueva Compañía Arrendataria de las Salinas (NCAST), have prepared an agreement of intent, which they are set to sign. The agreement will cover ‘the enhancement and tourist exploitation of the industrial architectural heritage of the salt mines of Torrevieja and La Mata.’ The area to be used will likely be a zone to the northeast of the lake and unused since the 1970s. The infrastructure already included two large warehouses with wooden platforms which could be repurposed for the initiative.
