- This French nursery rhyme is often sung in a round. The earliest known printing of the melody is 1780, and the earliest known printing of the words and melody is 1825. The tune was also adopted as a patriotic anthem in China in 1926, and it's the tune to the Mandarin nursery rhyme "Two Tigers 两只老虎."
