Great video. In my company, instead of asking a style guide specific questions, it will be much more useful to give it a draft document and have the copilot essentially proofread the text for compliance with the style guide. The folks I am training won’t know what they don’t know, so they’re less likely to ask about proper comma usage (for example). Similarly, we might ask the copilot to draft a document while ensuring compliance with the style guide. It would be awesome to see some examples of how to implement these concepts. Keep up the great work!

Could you load in the style guide into Copilot and then give it some unformatted references and then have it output the references in the correct style as detailed in the style guide? That would be much more useful than asking what the style would be, have it give you the definition of the style and then you have to run off into MS word and type it all out.

I have just done that and not happy with what I got. I have a massive workbook with more than 10 worksheets. I asked if it can tell me how many worksheets exist in total, it gave me 5. I asked it to simplify/explain a formula in a certain cell in one of the worksheets; it instead explained how I should read the formula. Could I have missed something?
The documents are uploaded and securely stored in Dataverse, but anyone using the copilot will have access to them, regardless of permissions or security. So I wouldn't be using this for anything highly confidential, or if you do, then the Copilot itself needs to be published somewhere secure (e.g. a private Teams channel). I find some websites it works for and others it just says "I'm sorry, I'm not sure how to help with that. Can you try rephrasing?" Could just be coincidence but smaller companies it does this for but bigger companies e.g. Apple it does not. Could there be something we need to plugin to the website to enable this?
You're right, I've had that fail as well. It's an indexing issue, it uses Bing to do the web search underneath. See if Bing returns any results from your site, and if it doesn't - it's an indexing / SEO problem worth raising with the website admins.

This is a really interesting area, yes. There is also Sales Copilot designed for that - one that sits inside Dynamics 365 Sales, and one inside Outlook. Then the model driven apps copilot. Definitely and area I"m going to do more with, stay tuned.
I watched this a second time after watching the compare video. I have a use case. Honestly, I probably have a few, but I can come up with at least one private, one public, and one non-profit basis. I like the non-profit one the best, but the model of marketing doesn’t really matter. I’m a House Dad and former IT professional. I’ve done some freelance projects through volunteerism and through private practice. How can I share with you one idea, and see if you like the copilot “library?” model. Do I need to make a UA-cam video or something?

I then uploaded one of the documents and it could answer basic questions but missed out on a lot e.g., e.g., ‘what is the submission deadline?. Bot said: I’m sorry, I’m not sure how to help with that. Can you try rephrasing? And I get getting this response 'Escalating to a live agent is not currently configured for this bot, however this is where the bot could provide information about how to get in touch with someone another way. Is there anything else I can help you with?..
I can see that you are building your CP in a US environment. How do we know if our AU environment has all the features working? FYI, I have yet to be able to upload any files (Word, Excel or PDF) and have my specific content discoverable in the CP. I have waited hrs and even days for some processing. Thoughts?
Great video thanks Lisa. I' would like to see a Copilot for Confluence. Confluence is a fantastic tool for creating documentation, but not so much for searching for information if you don't already know where the information is located. I suspect that having a Copilot will help a lot to mitigate this issue

For example if I upload an Excel file that has names and costs, it doesn't seem to be able to aggregate or summarize? Fir example how many people or what is the total cost? Yeah, this was my first inclination as well - to test it on a corporate SharePoint site. I'm not shocked by it not working, however, as wouldn't it undermine the commercial intent of the licensed 365 Copilot offerings? What are your thoughts, Lisa?
I haven't tried that exact use case, but I have noticed that it can be flaky. I've found that the best practice is to wait a bit after uploading and then click on the "Use Generative answers" toggle. If that still doesn't work, toggle the Generative answers again (Off, save, On, Save).

You only need azure if you want to do custom search, index, AI models on your data with azure AI yourself and then bring that back in to Copilot Studio. If you don’t need or want to go there and just use Copilot Studio with the underlying LLM provided you don’t need any additional licensing.

I have been able to remove docs and add new ones, and add new websites and retest without needing to republish. If your bot is live and published to a channel, then yes you would need to republish
You need to go into Settings - Security - Authentication - and set it to no authentication. Publish again. Then you will see the demo website available to use.
Is there a similar way to make Custom Copilots using our documents on Sharepoint and OneDrive only for internet use within out O365 tenant? (Not published out to the outside world)
Do you have a video on how to get the demo website working when it is disabled in the channels tab? It seems that the only channel that is not disabled is the Microsoft Teams channel. Is there additional configuration required?
Say you needed to send the same email once a month but have different data each month. Could it help you just change the data each month or even perform a calculation and keep the rest of the email the same? Just trying to think of use cases.
Copilot isn’t designed for that kind of thing, you can use Power Automate for that. Run a scheduled flow each month and connect the flow to your data source to pick up the current data for the email.

Question - I have a small business and currently gmail as email domain. when i try to login to copilot studio with my Microsoft 365 acct (gmail) it stops me and say a personal account can’t be used. Is copilot available to individuals to trial?
If you're trying to log in to Microsoft Copilot Studio (as shown here) you will need a work account, yes. if you want to use the general Copilot (copilot.microsoft.com), formerly known as Bing Chat Enterprise, that's a different thing and you can do that with your personal Microsoft account.

You need to publish it to somewhere that the end users can access - Teams, website, etc depending on the use -where have you published it that the users need to login? You do need a work email to log in to create a copilot, but if you publish it in a public place like a website there is no license to use it (unless you have it connected to a data source that needs authentication)

It’s designed to be good at summarising so if you pointed it to the website I’d say it could do a good summary for you. But if you want it to create a whole formal document this won’t be the right tool.

It depends on what kind of data is in the spreadsheet. From what I’ve tested here if it’s a reference table it works fine, but if you’re using excel as something that really should be in a database then it doesn’t.

It's pretty hard to troubleshoot in this forum - are you trying to connect to an authenticated source like SharePoint, and if so have you configured the authentication? If not, try going into Authentication in the settings area and making sure it's set to No Authentication. Try republishing. If none of that helps, I'd suggest posting with full details in the community forum - many of the product staff are responsive there.

No, you’ll need the Copilot for Microsoft 365 license to do that, the experience of being in PowerPoint and asking it to create a deck based on something from OneNote is part of that.

You can create a standalone Copilot (as shown here) and publish to any of the channels made available here - e.g. Teams, website, apps etc.. The licensing for that is done per tenant, not per user. If you want to publish to Microsoft Copilot, that's the Microsoft 365 Copilot - and you need to have the license for Microsoft 365 Copilot to do that.

@@LisaCrosbie so I have multiple files with an assortment of data (patent related etc) with multiple columns and rows. At the moment I just want to get one of those files into the system but I can't. If I try to create a new table in the environment recognises that I have 400 rows, previews 20, but only imports 20. If I try another route it sometimes creates the table but it's empty. Have been online with support for hours and am basically getting nowhere.
Copilot Studio as shown in this video is $200/tenant/month. If you want Copilot for Microsoft 365 you can buy that for $30/user/month as an add on to your Office 365 or Microsoft 365 license.
It really depends what kind of technical document you mean - if, for instance, it is the technical specifications of a product or system, you can use it as a chatbot to ask any questions to quickly find the information in that documentation - so it could be used by an end user to find help.
Hey Lisa, Good Content thank you for the video. Actually I was also trying to make a Generative AI chatbot for testing, I have registered a development account on Microsoft to test this. I have followed the same steps but I am unable to get any answers, is it because it is a premium feature? Can you please confirm if you are using a paid version or free? Also, though I have selected options of Generative AI regions in Power Platform Settings I wanted to confirm if this feature has been only rolled out for US yet and that is what causing a problem for me? Everything I’m showing in this video I did on a free trial so that’s not the problem. I used a US environment here but it has since rolled out to more countries (I can now do it in my Australian trial environment too). If you can see the generative AI toggle then you have it in your region). You might like to try the community forum for specific troubleshooting if you’re still stuck.

When I tried querying my chatbot again after a day I was able to get responses from the documents and websites link I had provided. Thank you for the support.
I’ve had that problem when I point it to a website that isn’t indexed or if I run it too soon after I upload a document (it takes a few minutes to index the document). Could it be either of those things?
Yes, the only limitation is that the URL can’t be more than 3 levels deep with /. I’ve also seen it not work on sites that aren’t being indexed properly by search engines.
I made a bot for that and imagine what happened when I asked the Bot (Wikipedia Helper) who is Jimmy Wales....Don't hold your breath. It can currently reference or understand almost nothing even though I have it the URL for Wikipedia. It needs to learn still....lol @@LisaCrosbie

Great video thanks Lisa. I' would like to see a Copilot for Confluence. Confluence is a fantastic tool for creating documentation, but not so much for searching for information if you don't already know where the information is located. I suspect that having a Copilot will help a lot to mitigate this issue

Great video thanks. My question is related to getting Copilot to summarize or aggregate information in a data source. For example if I upload an Excel file that has names and costs, it doesn't seem to be able to aggregate or summarize? Fir example how many people or what is the total cost? Shouldn't it be able to do this?

Dear Lisa. Can Studio connect with Twitter or LinkedIn for a particular individuals profile posts? Could that individual or another ask Studio to then draft a post ‘in the tone’ of the individual and in any topic of choosing? You need a copilot studio license for your organisation, (copilot studio is licensed by number of messages not by user).

Yeah, this was my first inclination as well - to test it on a corporate SharePoint site. I'm not shocked by it not working, however, as wouldn't it undermine the commercial intent of the licensed 365 Copilot offerings? What are your thoughts, Lisa?
Yes you can connect to documents on SharePoint but there are some additional steps to set up with authentication. Another video coming …
I haven't tried that exact use case, but I have noticed that it can be flaky. I've found that the best practice is to wait a bit after uploading and then click on the "Use Generative answers" toggle. If that still doesn't work, toggle the Generative answers again (Off, save, On, Save).
Can you do a deep dive on plugins within copilot studio? Id love to be able to plug in to tools like confluence jira etc

You need a separate Copilot Studio license to build your own Copjlots, it’s not part of the normal M365 license.

You only need azure if you want to do custom search, index, AI models on your data with azure AI yourself and then bring that back in to Copilot Studio. If you don’t need or want to go there and just use Copilot Studio with the underlying LLM provided you don’t need any additional licensing.

I have been able to remove docs and add new ones, and add new websites and retest without needing to republish. If your bot is live and published to a channel, then yes you would need to republish

You need to go into Settings - Security - Authentication - and set it to no authentication. Publish again. Then you will see the demo website available to use.

Absolutely yes, you can use everything shown here, then you just publish it to an internal source like Teams.
Do you have a video on how to get the demo website working when it is disabled in the channels tab? It seems that the only channel that is not disabled is the Microsoft Teams channel. Is there additional configuration required?
Go into settings - authentication- and set it to no authentication. Then the demo website should work.
Say you needed to send the same email once a month but have different data each month. Could it help you just change the data each month or even perform a calculation and keep the rest of the email the same?
Just trying to think of use cases.
Copilot isn’t designed for that kind of thing, you can use Power Automate for that. Run a scheduled flow each month and connect the flow to your data source to pick up the current data for the email.

You can create a bot for MS Teams by getting a Copilot Studio license.
Question - I have a small business and currently gmail as email domain. when i try to login to copilot studio with my Microsoft 365 acct (gmail) it stops me and say a personal account can’t be used. Is copilot available to individuals to trial?
If you're trying to log in to Microsoft Copilot Studio (as shown here) you will need a work account, yes. if you want to use the general Copilot (copilot.microsoft.com), formerly known as Bing Chat Enterprise, that's a different thing and you can do that with your personal Microsoft account.

You need to publish it to somewhere that the end users can access - Teams, website, etc depending on the use -where have you published it that the users need to login? You do need a work email to log in to create a copilot, but if you publish it in a public place like a website there is no license to use it (unless you have it connected to a data source that needs authentication)

It’s designed to be good at summarising so if you pointed it to the website I’d say it could do a good summary for you. But if you want it to create a whole formal document this won’t be the right tool.

@@LisaCrosbie Thanks Lisa. I looked at it last night and it's kind of sad to see that I can't just use it on my excel sheet right away :( I was planning to connect an excel data sheet and add a copilot chat window to my Power Apps app and ask the copilot questions about it.
It depends on what kind of data is in the spreadsheet. From what I’ve tested here if it’s a reference table it works fine, but if you’re using excel as something that really should be in a database then it doesn’t.

It's pretty hard to troubleshoot in this forum - are you trying to connect to an authenticated source like SharePoint, and if so have you configured the authentication? If not, try going into Authentication in the settings area and making sure it's set to No Authentication. Try republishing. If none of that helps, I'd suggest posting with full details in the community forum - many of the product staff are responsive there.

No, you’ll need the Copilot for Microsoft 365 license to do that, the experience of being in PowerPoint and asking it to create a deck based on something from OneNote is part of that.
Your video is too good. I think this as been built on top of PVA. without PVA will it be possible to build a Copilot stuff. just want to understand.
Thanks - yes, this is essentially what used to be PVA, but with more added - name and language change, and then all the parts that connect to Copilot for Microsoft 365 are new.

You can create a standalone Copilot (as shown here) and publish to any of the channels made available here - e.g. Teams, website, apps etc.. The licensing for that is done per tenant, not per user. If you want to publish to Microsoft Copilot, that's the Microsoft 365 Copilot - and you need to have the license for Microsoft 365 Copilot to do that.

@@LisaCrosbie so I have multiple files with an assortment of data (patent related etc) with multiple columns and rows. At the moment I just want to get one of those files into the system but I can't. If I try to create a new table in the environment recognises that I have 400 rows, previews 20, but only imports 20. If I try another route it sometimes creates the table but it's empty. Have been online with support for hours and am basically getting nowhere.

How could one use this chatbot to retrieve information from technical documents in a worthwhile manner?
It really depends what kind of technical document you mean - if, for instance, it is the technical specifications of a product or system, you can use it as a chatbot to ask any questions to quickly find the information in that documentation - so it could be used by an end user to find help.

Everything I’m showing in this video I did on a free trial so that’s not the problem. I used a US environment here but it has since rolled out to more countries (I can now do it in my Australian trial environment too). If you can see the generative AI toggle then you have it in your region). You might like to try the community forum for specific troubleshooting if you’re still stuck.

I was able to create one for myself, actually the issue was related with some initial time lag that it takes to configure the chatbot. When I tried querying my chatbot again after a day I was able to get responses from the documents and websites link I had provided.

My copilot to a fault returns "I’m sorry, I’m not sure how to help with that. Can you try rephrasing?" Anyone finding the same issue?
I’ve had that problem when I point it to a website that isn’t indexed or if I run it too soon after I upload a document (it takes a few minutes to index the document). Could it be either of those things?
Can this be done with any website?
Yes, the only limitation is that the URL can’t be more than 3 levels deep with /. I’ve also seen it not work on sites that aren’t being indexed properly by search engines.

I made a bot for that and imagine what happened when I asked the Bot (Wikipedia Helper) who is Jimmy Wales....Don't hold your breath. It can currently reference or understand almost nothing even though I have it the URL for Wikipedia. It needs to learn still....lol

Yeah I just tried it, it doesn’t work at all. I think Wikipedia has indexing blocked exactly so you can’t do this kind of thing.
