Nicole, couldn't you make bouquets out of the damaged tulips and sell them at a discount? I bet there's a lot of people who wouldn't be as picky about the bruising. I totally understand why you are but if I were in your area and visited your nursery and saw tulips bouquets at a discount I would purchase them in a heartbeat bruising or not.
I was just going to say the same thing! Another tuber puts the shorter stems in canning jars with some greenery and sells them as posies. It's kind of like imperfect fruits and veggies, they still taste as good even if the visual is imperfect! I'm also saving as much as possible for retirement after raising my daughter as a single parent. I would be thrilled to buy a short or hail bruised tulip bouquet for myself at a discount! 🌻 ♻ 💐
Totally agree with these ladies..people are buying old ugly bouquets at the grocery and convenience stores bet they would sell well at discount everybody wins!!
There are a lot of things happening in gardens all around the world now! I love that we all are in a community with similar interest of growing things, but under different conditions. Nicole, you spread happiness and joy over our mutual results, wether it is about one single flower that bloom now, or thousands of them. Best wishes for your best season ever from a veggie and flower grower in Sweden, to all flower friends in the world!
Hi sweetie, I hope you and the family are o.k., and the reason its quiet on your channel is because you are growing and selling flowers like crazy. Have a nice weekend.
Thanks for the video, Nicole! It’s sweet of you to take the time when you are running yourself ragged already. It looks like you’re doing great with everything, there will always be bumps in the road when you’re dealing with living things. The kitty!!!
16:35 😂😂 we love the science lessons. I'm extra confused about the tulips rotation because my entire childhood we had GORGEOUS tulips in the same spot year after year without replanting bulbs.
Some tulips will come back every year, I've had a patch flower for ten years. The fancier the tulip, the less likely they will come back. Although I have some peony tulips that had flowered for three years. I'm on rich soil and I do feed them after flowering. I don't pull the stems, so that also helps.
Tulip bulbs could be sold at discount at nursery. Recycling bulbs could be a hidden $ maker. Crate with them dumped in your choice of mystery bulb for ? each. Just idea.
Thanks Nicole, so happy to have been able to come by and enjoy the fruits of your hard work! The plants I bought are beautiful and doing great in my garden as I am in a higher zone I could get many in the ground right away! Your family is so awesome buzzing around the greenhouses, so helpful and friendly! Looking forward to hearing how it all went for Mother’s Day weekend! You and your family are amazing! Great job! 👏👏👏🌸🌸🌸💖💖💖
So glad to hear from you, was double-checking yesterday to see if I had missed a post! Concluded that no news is good news as then you must be a busy-bee 😊🎉❤😊
Your nursery is seriously a dream! It's a good thing you are no where close to where I live because I would be broke all of the time buying everything! It's all so beautiful! Happy Mother's Day!!
I wish I lived close. I would request a bouquet of solely damaged tulips. Thank you for sharing your life with us, I adore following you. -the wanna be flower farmer who plants a half acre of cut flowers just to give them away to friends and family 😂
Best wishes for a successful Mother's day at the nursery. One of my local nurseries said, next to Valentine's day, Mother's day weekend is they're busiest. That was interesting to learn about pH affecting leaves. I assumed I was overwatering. (My aunt put me in charge of her bonsai gardenia when she went on a 3-week trip. She said she didn't care if I killed it. That's my specialty.) I'm guessing you're no longer trying to lose weight. Stress and busyness is a surefire weight-loss program. You look so fit! Me? I'm down to one meal a day and have stalled in my weight loss. Frustrating. But my gardens are looking in shape. 😊
I don't get flowers often and have never been given tulips. A few days after watching your tulip hail storm video a visitor bought me tulips as a thanks for having me gift. They are just gorgeous.
Hey, i just wanted to share that my black parrots also didn’t have a lot of blooms.. lots of green but not a lot of blooms tho. Glad to know it wasn’t just mine!
So glad all is going well Nicole!!!! Gonna keep on keeping you lifted up in my prayers!!!! Making sure you have a rock star first year!!!! I know you got lots of invoices to pay!!! But!!!!! think you diet is working too well lol. Make sure you are taking a few minutes to eat sugars. Can't have you collapsing during prime time!! 😉🙏🙏🙏🙌🙌👏👏👏👈You Go Girl!!!!! WOOT WOOT.
I love your Earth Breeze commercial 🤣 I also like their product. I stock pile all my supplies and my year's supply of laundry soap fits in a very small space. I originally got it for that reason, but I've found that I actually like their sheets better than liquid detergent. It works great, no mess, and less space
A little bit yes, youtube records the total time someone watches your video. Not much though, one person watching an ad might be something like .005 cents 😂. (I’m only a month or so into monetization but I find the stats kinda fascinating)
Greetings from Ukraine! Nicole, please answer the question about the device that turned your shed into a cooler. Who is the manufacturer and where can you buy it? I have friends in the USA who can buy it and bring it to me. I really like watching your videos. Your bouquets are beautiful. Thank you for them. Sorry for my English. Sincerely, Larisa
Nicole I'm glad the majority of the Tulips are looking great. You've certainly had your fare share of trials this year, hopefully things will go smoother for you here on out.
I'm so sad about your tulip damage! Hopefully your harvest will be enough for Mother's Day. The greenhouse looks wonderful. I bet you are selling like crazy! Love it.
Super satisfying to watch tulips 🌷 getting pulled. We’re 90 degrees here in Vegas and a few months ago I only got to pull a handful of my tulips most of them didn’t flower just green.
Thank you so much for doing a follow up my heart was going out to you in the other video showing the hail storm. So appreciate you sharing your journey and everything going on encourages the rest of us to keep at our dreams and keep growing. May I ask is it due to the zone you are in is why the tulips don't come back? I will be planting a lot this coming fall and wasn't sure if it was that or certain varieties that don't come back?
I would buy the damaged tulips at a discount, I think they would be a great option for people who maybe can't afford a full price bouquet or who enjoy the quirkiness the bruising affords. Also, I see you don't keep your tulip bulbs and I understand your reasoning behind that. But could the bulbs you're pulling be salvaged if desired?
If you haven't yet, please get your PH checked to make sure it is actually high. I have the same issue with yellowing leaves but it is because my PH is too low and have to add calcium. You can even go into most pet shops with a water sample and they'll test it for you for free and tell you your PH. Straight the tap ours is 5.1 and watering with it straight strips the nutrients from the pot and blocks iron absorption.
So sorry your tulips did not come back -- I just do jar bouquets so never pull my tulips -- I don't plant near the numbers you do but my tulips come back every year and actually spread -- even doubles that people said wouldn't look good year 2-- but are perfect
I wonder if the tulips you left in the ground did so poorly because of the spacing. Last summer, the individual plants could tell there were a lot, and didn't put as much effort into getting ready to reproduce this year.
I have yellowing on my Geraniums and red leaves on my Marigolds. I'm a fellow NY greenhouse grower being my first year. I'm doing this all on my own because I don't know who to contact who'd help with these questions.
A question. NIcole ….. when you keep the flowers in the cool bot, are they kept in water or just stacked on top of each other in the crates without water?
Looking good Nicole donate the damaged tulips if you can. Can I ask why Americans drop the “H” in herbs….erbs?????? Your little girl is a gorgeous kitty.
You compost the tulip bulbs? Why cannot they be stored and replanted? I have 10 or more tulips that have come back every year strong for over 20yrs and in the same spot. The tulips do look beautiful!
They will not grow new plants the way she has to harvest them. Tulips come back only when you leave the leaves and stems on until they turn yellow or brown. Those leaves feed the bulb energy for its dormancy and for it to grow into a plant again the next year. The way she has to harvest it does not allow that.
I'm sorry your tulip harvest got smushed by hail, so sad! As a Dutch person I do love me some tulips but you are right, they have to be dug up and not stay in the ground. They really are not bred for that. I see so many gardeners being disappointed their tulips don't come back as well the next winter. It's because they left them in the ground, the bulbs really need to be taken out and dry up and reset before they go back in during fall times. There might be variations nowadays but here in the Netherlands everyone digs up their bulbs and plants them again at the end of the year. Might be 5 years down the line you'll see some start to fizzle out, but not after just one season. I just treat them the same as my ranunculus, anemones and dahlias. They're pretty but I have to dig them up when they're done blooming :D so be it.
What a shame you couldn't use some of those seconds or even thirds and donate them to some nursing homes in the area..perfect maybe not but I am willing to be the residents would love it..
@@cynthiafisher9907 your right..I should have made my comment a bit more clearer..I didn't expect her to do it..she has her hands full..I also didn't imply she should do it only to the fact it would be nice..And you certainly just can't let anyone in those fields to pick..I think she is one hell of a woman..And would love to support her if I lived back in NY

I would 💯 buy them at a discount
I will too
We said the same thing when she showed the original hail vid!
I would totally buy the damaged tulips and especially so if offered with a discount.
Hope everything is going well!
Beautiful Flowers and Greenhouse, Thank You.
Happy Mothers Day!
Happy Mother’s Day Nicole and to all the Flower Friends. 🎉🙂

Wish I had a local nursery with this awesome variety. I hate going from place to place and seeing the same ol’ run of the mill stuff.
16:35 😂😂 we love the science lessons. I'm extra confused about the tulips rotation because my entire childhood we had GORGEOUS tulips in the same spot year after year without replanting bulbs.
Flower farmers pull the stem out of the bulb so they will be longer, or they pull the whole bulb up. After that, they don’t come back.
Some tulips will come back every year, I've had a patch flower for ten years. The fancier the tulip, the less likely they will come back. Although I have some peony tulips that had flowered for three years. I'm on rich soil and I do feed them after flowering. I don't pull the stems, so that also helps.
I think she mentioned "Tulip Fire" in one of her older videos, but don't remember details
Tulip bulbs could be sold at discount at nursery. Recycling bulbs could be a hidden $ maker. Crate with them dumped in your choice of mystery bulb for ? each. Just idea.
I hope everything is well with you and your family Nicole.🙏🙏
Take care.
Updates needed.. Miss you
Nursing home, widows, assisted living would love a bouquet!
I love tulips and would buy these in a heartbeat. Put a small hail discount on 'em and go to town!
I always thought that speckling on tulips I've seen for sale was just variegation. Never knew it was bruising until your hail video.
Getting withdrawals. Hope everything is ok 🌺🌼🌷

Asparagus always looks like it's pranking everyone to convince us that's how asparagus grows 😂
Wish I lived in your area to shop at your nursery. Everything looks amazing! Happy Mother's Day🌷!
This made me think about the hail cover that blogger/author Jill Winger's husband built to protect her garden. Maybe look into it.
Tks for getting a video out in the middle of the madness! Hope you have a fantastic weekend. Enjoy the Bette Midler tulips for yourself 😊
I was wondering if you could plant rannuculus in Indiana in June. Happy mothers day late
Off topic Nicole but looking absolutely gorgeous
Angilique is my favorite tulip! Sad because it never comes back.
Does anyone know if not skipping the ads and watching the whole adverts helps out Nicole?

I'm so sad about your tulip damage! Hopefully your harvest will be enough for Mother's Day. The greenhouse looks wonderful. I bet you are selling like crazy! Love it.
Happy Mother's Nichole I hope you get a little R&R

I love it all Nicole! Your choice of Tulips are stunning!

I don’t know why Americans drop the h, but we do.
Is there no way to salvage the waste by making potpourri or some other dried products with the tulips?
I have no time to consider anything like that.
No new videos- 10 days…
Hope all is well!!

Had my first meal of asparagus for dinner today. Also made a rhubarb crisp for dessert.

@@RTCPhotoWork Thank you for that detailed explanation and makes perfect sense!
Why couldn’t you plant tulips bulbs in the same bed you used the previous year?
Google "tulip fire" or "botrytis"
Hello from Seattle! Love all that you are doing with your flower farm and the Nursery! 🙂
