Number 1 should have been Squaresoft. Yes, the company. They simply had far too many classics on PS1, that to leave any of them out is... well you can't do it. Xenogears, Final Fantasy VII, Chrono Cross, Parasite Eve 1 and 2, Brave Fencer Musashi, Vagrant Story, Final Fantasy Tactics, Final Fantasy IX, Threads of Fate, Legend of Mana, SaGa Frontier 1 and 2, Square had a near flawless lineup of RPG's on the PS1. Also, not even a mention of Breath of Fire 3 and 4, Alundra, Dragon Warrior 7, King's Field 2, Shadow Tower, Azure Dreams, or Legend of Legaia?
I was about to mention King's Field, BoF and LoM, too. Also no mention of any Tales game?! I guess Alundra is an Action Adventure, or is it a Metroidvania?
I totally understand why FF VII (deservedly) got the top spot, but I was very grateful for the shout out to IX! My nostalgic favorite of all the Final Fantasy games. :)
+Micheal Sands It's always made me shed a tear that Legend of Dragoon never hit it off as much as it should. It does feature standard RPG storytelling and cliche characters, but the game play and battle system were spot on, and as simplistic as it seemed there was quite a bit of strategy needed for certain fights.
+Micheal Sands I loved Legend of Dragoon. Still do actually, never managed to get it to work with roms and such though. I never bought it but rented it from a videostore every once in a while. At some point I got stuck (somewhere on disc 4) and couldn't find out how to continue, walkthroughs weren't as easy to find back then. I didn't rent it for a few months, and when I wanted to get it again, they did not have it anymore :(.
+Micheal Sands Same, sad thing is I remember my game getting corrupted on Disc 4, couldn't buy or use items out of combat as my money was random jibberish. Still somehow beat the game just using my MP regen ring on the healer. xD
Legend of Dragoon was a really underrated game. I remember playing it for the first time and hearing actual voice overs during the FMV scenes, that was a first for me and really made the game so much more enjoyable.
I Totally agree with you! Chrono Cross is one of my favourite games ever! Not just on ps1 or rpg genres but all kind of games. And If I wasn't played Dark Souls. Definitely I would say it's my favourite! My opinion! ;)
'The Legend of Dragoon' is my all time favorite Playstation game. What I enjoyed most about it was how the battling system centered around your sense of timing although it really showed me gamings potential to portray a story and create a new world.
Grandia was the reason why I started and loved playing RPGs and eventually MMOs. No other game could ever give me a sense of adventure, discovery, and wonder. The most memorable part for me was getting past the End of The World and thinking there is so much more to see. Reaching the final boss, the one thing I truly remember learning was that there is no end to the greed of man - too deep for a child me back then haha.
+MegaCapitalG I know Lunar 1 and 2 were (also some of my favorite games), but I didn't know about Grandia. Just looked it up; you're right. If that's the case, Lunar should totally be on this list!
10 Xenogears 9 Chrono Cross 8 Legend of Mana 7 Breath of Fire 4 6 Lunar Silver Star Story 5 Final Fantasy 9 4 Final Fantasy 7 3 Legend of Dragoon 2 Final Fantasy Tactics 1 Suikoden 2
I'm quite happy with the position Xenogears got. It's one of my all times favorites(top 3). Beautiful and daring script, great cast of characters, awesome combat system, nice pace and a very good looker for 1995... I can hardly pinpoint any flaws for that game. Matter of fact i think you guys didn't praise it enough. Taking a look at that list it made me think that me and you guys probably played the same games when we were kids. It's not the first time that you guys nail a list that i just look at and think "i could hardly switch any position around". Thanks +Watchmojo.com !
FFVII is my childhood. I wouldn't say it's my favourite game ever, but it was for a really long time. It was my first console game after all. I remember playing mostly platformers and adventure games when I was a kid (Spyro, Crash Bandicoot, Tomb Raider...), but the ones I really loved were rpgs. Sadly they weren't commonly found in local stores so FFVII was my only rpg for a couple years. Then I discovered VIII & IX (both of which I loved) thanks to a friend, but the only other rpgs I was able to play were Legend of Legaia and Wild Arms. And, seriously, Wild Arms has the best intro of any psx game if you ask me... that amazingly animated cutscene and that song...
Omg your list is exactly as mine!!!Totally the same exept Wild Arms-->Thousant Arms and Vagrant Story--->Koudelka(honorable mentions Saga Frontier). Good Job m8 and great video
I correctly predicted FFVII topping this list. But not having FFVIII and IX here is almost criminal. Unless a rule specifies only one game may represent a series, those two should have been in the top 3.
+Ken Zhang True, but FFT still has a better story than FF VII. Mostly because the biggest plot twist of the story hasn't been spoiled for everyone like in FF VII.
I was glad Vagrant Story got a mention. It was an amazing game with a truly beautifully written story. It had some amazing game play elements including the craft system. It is a travesty that so few pay tribute to it.
+AnonEyeMouse Indeed, I believe it suffered of arriving a little late into the party - in the 2000, same year of release of the PS2. Amazing game nonetheless, probably mi favorite that I played as a kid on the PSX. I dislike JRPG's a lot, so for me to like this one it must be really good, and damn it is. From the great atmosphere and distinct art direction, to the super original and skill-based combat, it sure was a blast. I only hated that characters didn't have voice actors, apart from that it was a great video game.
Yesterday, I downloaded FFT for my tablet, this game taught me so much about life, friendship, courage and the lies of the status quo... kids to day should play this games and learn, this games are like books but better and they can change your life.
I was and still am a huge fan of a lesser known PS1 game called Brigandine which was great on game play, originality and replay ability. Good list. Many favorites of which I still own half of.
The things I played that weren't on the list that I liked are Front Mission, Jade Cocoon, Valkyries profile, Breath of Fire III, and Tales of Destiny 1 & 2. Also... It is not my favorite but I was obsessed with Beyond the Beyond. That game took less than 100MB of Disc space but the game was hella long! My timer stopped at 99 hours but I kept going. I lost my saves before because my files got corrupted due to many transfer with Dex Drive. My heart sank when that happened because I've spent so much time and I was near the end. That game still haunts me.
I had a feeling it would get screwed over before I even watched. A PS1 game that shows all the different armor/weapons you wear, a combat/combo system that was deep, but understandable as opposed to just clicking attack. Makes me sick how it constantly gets over looked.
+Exiled ExDeath it did though. lots of feels. my only issue was that I beat it at lvl 45 with no issues. im happy to see it getting some attention in the comments. I guess ur right cuz the story ends way too soon.
That wasn't bad...but there was a lot of grinding to do, if I remember right. And entering combos in combat was irksome when you were trying to level up or gain cash. I preferred just rapidly pressing X to fight.
Nice list, glad to see Vandal Hearts at least got an honourable mention. That was the first game i played on the console as a kid and it blew my mind having only played 2D games prior. The story, music and death animations made it really feel different to anything i had played on the previous gen. I didn't enjoy Vandal hearts 2 as much due to the combat system, but any RPG fans should definitely check both of them out if you haven't already!
No love for Valkyrie Profile? Not even an honorable mention? :( And what about Parasite Eve? People tend to only remember Resident Evil and Silent Hill when talking about horror game in PS1.
There were so many great games on PS1 that they were bound to miss alot of them. Parasite Eve does seem to get overshadowed alot. I've nothing but great things about it.
Obviously FFVII was going to get it. Only hardcore Final fantasy fans prefer or know of FFIX I gotta say though i like the list, some really solid picks (except for Grandia). Particullary happy about Xenogears Number 2 spot, that game is literally beyond godlike.
Thanks for another amazing top Watch Mojo....it's not like i'm a Nostalgifag or something...but let's admit it....the things back on the day were made with much more love than today....
Every time I think about these games it really inspire me to play all of them. I wish I could have all the time to play all of them and 100% complete each one. That would be a great achievement.
+Alex Savvas Thank you for confirming for me that Tales of Eternia exists, and it's not just something I dreamed up. Because I was pretty sure it was real, but for such a great game to go completely ignored and unacknowledged, even in a list of the best ps1 rpgs, had me starting to doubt my reality.
Tales is an okay series, but not a game changer like most of the list in this top 10. The series wasn't making a huge impact on the genre until Symphonia, which was also overshadowed by PS2 JRPGs. Vesperia is the only time that Tales really excelled as it literally have no competition during its time of release. You can replace Star Ocean with Destiny or Eternia as they have pretty similar gameplay and that's it.
Alex Savvas probably just a piece of shit that probably doesn't play a whole lot of RPG stuff nor even do much research other then a simple google search before calling it a day.
+Kevin McQueary (hemanshera777) I also was expecting at least a honorable mention, so I started to look for someone sharing my frustration in the coments
1. Final Fantasy IX 2. Suikoden II 3. Legend of Dragoon 4. Legend of Legaia 5. Chrono Cross These are my all time favorites. *1 pick per series. Btw I still have them in my PSP in case I want to bring back memories!
My top 15: 1. Final Fantasy 8 2. Final Fantasy 7 3. Chrono Cross 4. Suikoden 2 5. Grandia 6. Xenogears 7. Star Ocean 2 8. Final Fantasy Tactics 9. Legend of Legaia 10. Vandal Hearts 2 11. Vagrant Story 12. Valkyrie Profile 13. Tales of Destiny 14. The Legend of Dragoon 15. Lunar: Silver Star Story
Currently playing full playthrough of FFVII on an emulator on my phone with the high res textures and locked 60fps. It's a masterpiece. I haven't played it since I was 13 and I'm now in my mid 30s. I love to grind the rpgs I play. I'm level 85 already just starting disc 3. Currently obsessed with breeding Chocobos. Lol.
I mainly played the PS1 for the RPGs. I can't believe you didn't have Alundra on the list. That was one of my favorites along with Wild Arms, Grandia, FF7 and others. There was also that one Tactical RPG Atlus made that had a 2 player versus mode that was so much fun. My brother and I would play it a lot. I think it started with a K. Anyone know? I cant remember the name.
No Legend of Mana in the list? you can have multiple companions, you can capture elementals by playing music, you can capture pets and train them, you can create your mecha golem, you can plant seeds in your garden, harvest plant and use it for crafting, you can make weapons and armors, you can make music instruments, you can change your weapon class anytime, interesting story that you need to unlock like puzzle pieces for each new area unlocked, awesome soundtrack, nice 2d sprites and artworks, and there's 2 player pvp too, saw a few second clips on the video, But how could you not include that?
Knew FF7 was gonna get #1 and honestly it belongs there because it was one damn hellava journey. For me, Xenogears, Vagrant Story, and Wild Arms brought the smile, as each had inspirational soundtracks and sleepless night worthy worlds. But Grandia...that you should mention Grandia. Win. Its the story of every little kid who dreamed of a great adventure some day materialized onto a cd. There is no other game (well besides Dragon Quest 7) that has a warmer spot in my heart. Sam from Lord of teh Rings said it best- 'The stories that matter." Sidenote though: Parasite Eve 1, Valkeryie Profile, FF9, Hoshigami- Ruining Blue Earth, and Tales of Destiny cheers~~
10. Suikoden II 9. The Legend of Dragoon 8. Final Fantasy VII 7. Granstream Saga (different) 6. Dragon Valor 5. Legend of Mana (different) 4. Brave Fencer Musashi (different) 3. Vagrant Story 2. Tales of Destiny (different) 1. Star Ocean: The Second Story Honorable Mentions Tales of Eternia (different) Final Fantasy VIII (different) Grandia Xenogears Chrono Cross
Is this a joke? Why are FF8 and FF9 not there, I would assume it's because they didn't want to fill it with final fantasy games but then what the hell is final fantasy tactics doing there.
What a pity you didn't mention Jade Cocoon. While the sequel for the PS2 wasn't great at all, the first game was really something unique and special and I loved playing it. So much in fact, that I cleared the demo of it about 30 times before I could finally play the game.
Azure dreams was one of the best games I ever played. Complete with 7 possible girlfriends, a casino, bowling alley and "horse racing" track, not to mention a hundred different familiars you could train, evolve and fuse. I had over 200 hours logged in on that game. Along with Final Fantasy Tactics.
I love how people always rag on people for choosing FFVII in top ps1 lists, Sure, both VIII and IX are amazing, and in some people's opinions, better. But you have to realize that VII holds more significance, in that it was the first FF game most westerners ever saw, and to those that already knew the series, was the first 'next-gen' release. So even if it's not better than it's sequels, it's much more important.
Nr.1 could never be any different game than the one mentioned here. I'd order the other 2-10 a little differently, but they are in my personal top-list aswell. Nice taste of games, i hope we are not alone ^^
Seen number 1 coming a mile away. Personally I'd rather Xenogears at number 1, FFIX at number 2 (Instead of VII), Suikoden 2 at 3 and Legend of Dragoon at 4... Probably find a way to squeeze tales of destiny 2/eternia in there as well.
-Minor Legend of Dragoon Spoilers- You have NO idea how happy I was to see Legend of Dragoon! It's depth was amazing and its story, although Final Fantasy-esque, was original and extremely interesting! Rose's back story, Dart's back story, finding out what really happened to the Dragoons, Rose's quest to purge herself of what she has done, on top of pulling at your heart strings with death and destruction to rebirth and restoration. It's a rediscovery of what makes humans what we are and shows that even the darkest of us all can step out of that shadow and vitalize benevolence.
+Brett Hicks One of the best games I've ever played. Some of the best FMVs especially considering the time. Under Appreciated and sadly criticized for it addition system being too difficult. That's what made it fun. Mastering the additions. And overshadowed by every FF game again considering the time. Great memory from my childhood
Andrew Hayes You sir, are 100% correct The game is better in terms of world, characters, story, music, and gameplay. Its bloody fantastic, thats why its my favorite game. Not my favorite rpg, not my favorite psone game, no, MY FAVORITE FUCKING GAME PERIOD!
Love the list. You hit all the series that I was thinking of (not my order, but who cares). My only criticism is that you didn't mention Legend of Dragoon's combos.
Dark Mountain Productions Alundra is such a great game and so overlooked.
No one talks about Parasite Eve and more and I LOVED that game. The first one, anyway. The game control on the sequel was unbearable.
Vandal Hearts 1&2
PS had so many good rpg's they couldn't list them all. And Squaresoft used to sh*t out good all rpg's .
I was about to mention King's Field, BoF and LoM, too. Also no mention of any Tales game?! I guess Alundra is an Action Adventure, or is it a Metroidvania?
Legend of Dragoon & Final Fantasy 9
Karl Limon legend of dragoon is the GOAT
yeah those are probably my favorite 2.
Decent games
Legend of Legaia 😻
Yes and HELL YEAH!
Chrono Cross: "You only come across masterpieces like this once or twice per generation...... #6 rpg on this console!" :|
Tbf that's totally reasonable considering the sheer number of amazing JRPGs on the system; just don't take the wording literally lol
For me The Legend of Dragoon is not just the best RPG on PS1, it's the best RPG I've ever played.
Mortal Kombat Reconciliation lod and ff8 are my Favorit ps1 rpgs
You are so right
Mortal Kombat Reconciliation true
Mortal Kombat Reconciliation I CANT AGREE MORE.
Mortal Kombat Reconciliation I agree it is amazing
No love for Final Fantasy 8? Just me??
All FF's for PS1 where amazingly great!! But yeah, FF7 was the most influential.
Leo Stamato ff 7 saved that series lol, ff 8 not really a big fan of it.
Leo Stamato seriously, all four FF games on the ps1 are some of my favorite games of all time. Easily.
FF8 is only good with its graphics, game play and story wise its nothing special.
GacktSe7en lol FF 7 sucked. FF8 rescued it from the crappy materia system. The multiple story arcs in FF8 are better than FF7
@@skychaos87 FF8 is a video game not a book.
I totally understand why FF VII (deservedly) got the top spot, but I was very grateful for the shout out to IX! My nostalgic favorite of all the Final Fantasy games. :)
They're my 1 & 2 and I'm playing them both again now :D
+awakenedashes I am, too!! :D
+kcsoup3 I'm glad that FFIX got a shout out as well.
No one likes FF Viii (8?) :/
+damcs because the game battle system is bad.
How DARE you put my game so low on this list!
Now I must burn down ANOTHER orphanage!
That orphan blood is on your hands WatchMojo!
+Jebbtube Shoo Lynx!
+Jebbtube I would have put Chrono Cross at least at 3, in my opinion. The soundtrack, the locations...all fantastic.
TheKrustaceox Don't you shoo me!
I've got a bitchin' scythe!
Comment makes me think of the anime called "Monster".
Shut up, Lynx! You're lucky the SNES fanbase is not here to avenge Lucca!
I really enjoyed Legend of the Dragoon when growing up. In fact I believe it was one of the first I actually remember playing /beating
+Micheal Sands It's always made me shed a tear that Legend of Dragoon never hit it off as much as it should. +Micheal Sands most underrated ps1 game. the quick time additions were way ahead QTE that we have these days and way harder

Love Chrono Cross. Legend of Dragoon, Final Fantasy 7,8,9. These games made my love for RPGs, story telling and gaming as a whole what it is today.
Great list! Missed Legend of Mana, Tales of Destiny, Valkyrie Profile, Breath of Fire IV, and FF9, though.
breath of fire 3 is one my all time fav rpgs.
+PsychoSavage88 Was hoping that one would pop up.
+PsychoSavage88 never got around to playing this game but ive always wanted to
+PsychoSavage88 i'd prefer BoF IV
+PsychoSavage88 i prefer 4 but 3 was great too
+PsychoSavage88 BoF 2 is my fav in the series, But I never got into Dragon Quater
I really appreciate Xenogears in 2nd place. For me, it is to this day the most memorable game experience I ever had.
Chrono Cross is the greatest game of all-time in my book.
Joseph Swartz mines too.
I have a legitimate physical copy of the chrono cross soundtrack shipped directly from japan.
nope suikoden 2 is vastly superior but a difrent game for sure and crono cross is still great tho it was small project
Same
I Totally agree with you! Chrono Cross is one of my favourite games ever! Not just on ps1 or rpg genres but all kind of games. And If I wasn't played Dark Souls. Definitely I would say it's my favourite! My opinion! ;)
Legend of Mana and Brave Fencer Musashi...two of my favorites.
Great video. Legend of Dragon, Chrono Cross, and Final Fantasy VII were my favorites.
a man of good taste
+Justin Pinter OMG a fellow lover of Chrono Cross! I'm glad that I'm not the only one! :D
mine too. I do think that Dragoon should have been higher on the list tho.
+Michelle DiPalo Yes. it's always underrated
BosnianDiamond I feel the same about Shadow Hearts on the PS2
Suikoden II sums up almost half of my childhood. Even played it when I was in High school.
The Legend of Dragoon FTW! "Legend of Legaia" is another great JRPG on the PS1!
'The Legend of Dragoon' is my all time favorite Playstation game. What I enjoyed most about it was how the battling system centered around your sense of timing although it really showed me gamings potential to portray a story and create a new world.
Xenogears from Ps1 is one of my favorite RPG. Who remember that game? haha

Not to be that guy, but I'm pretty sure Grandia was ORIGINALLY released on the Sega Saturn and was ported to the Playstation like two years later.
Cap, I love your videos!
+MegaCapitalG I know Lunar 1 and 2 were (also some of my favorite games), but I didn't know about Grandia. Just looked it up; you're right. If that's the case, Lunar should totally be on this list!
+MegaCapitalG this is the second time ive seen you on a watchmojo vid
+MegaCapitalG was looking for this comment
+MegaCapitalG "not to be that guy" *proceeds to be that guy* lol
nah, but i agree i think you are right about that
Anybody here ever play Threads of Fate? It was a pretty short RPG but I loved the story and the game mechanics.
Grandia was the reason why I started playing video games. No other game has ever given me such a great feeling of adventure and exploration.
Soooo many Fantastic JRPG's at that time, those days when RPG's focus on great story rather than graphics yet amazing gameplay and mechanics
IX was probably my favorite FF and favorite RPG overall. Such a great game:)
I'm sorry to see Breath of Fire 3 didn't make it. But it's so cool that many of the ones I've played and loved are there.
BoF3 was tits. no bra, just tits
My favourite game!
suikoden 2 is my first rpg games.
i remember i can't even speak english at that time lol
Same here. Very good game
Gerry Juwono Same😍
Seems like you can't speak English now either

Too much nostalgia.
Suikoden was the first PS1 game I ever played and the franchise still one of my faves. But it was obvious that FFVII would be number one
legend of dragoon should've been #1, I would dearly love to play it again, soo many bitter sweet memories

Grandia shouldn't count. It was originally a Sega Saturn game that was ported to PS1.
I was thinking the same
It's better than ff7
But the ps1 ver is superior
Were is LEGEND OF LEGAIA? :/
+RatosLetrados Thank You! My thoughts exactly!
One of my favorite games in history.. I thought I was the only one, Now I'm glad that I'm not n.n
What an awesome game 🎮
Too bad I didn't get to finish it
No love for Valkyrie Profile? Not even an honorable mention? :(
And what about Parasite Eve? People tend to only remember Resident Evil and Silent Hill when talking about horror game in PS1.
Erepyon VP was my shit bro, it was nice to get away from "potions" and Phoenix downs
I fully expected to see Valkyrie Profile on this list. It's easily top 10.
There were so many great games on PS1 that they were bound to miss alot of them. Parasite Eve does seem to get overshadowed alot. I've nothing but great things about it.
@@kummakummakummakummakummac8606 yeah, the PS1 was stacked with amazing RPGs
Valkyrie Profile must include❤
Everyone always forgets Legend of Legia
Obviously FFVII was going to get it. Only hardcore Final fantasy fans prefer or know of FFIX
I gotta say though i like the list, some really solid picks (except for Grandia).
Particullary happy about Xenogears Number 2 spot, that game is literally beyond godlike.
Breath of Fire 4 ?
How the hell did they miss that
+_Scyas_ 3 or 4 deserved to make the list.
Right!
I prefered Breath of Fire 3 it had an amazing story
+_Scyas_ Ya I would have rather seen that than the handful of TRPGs they slipped into the list.
Valkyrie Profile....
❤❤❤ I've been trying to remember the make of this game for days!!
Better than all the final fantasy games.
My fav game❤ by square enix
@@benjiehufana3880 It's actually made by Tri-Ace, only published by Enix before they even merged with Squaresoft
Soooo glad Xenogears made it that far into the list!
Not even an honorable mention for either Tales of Destiny or Tales of Eternia? Who put this list together?
+Alex Savvas I'm really sad that eternia is not on the list. I'm still playing it in my psp OTL
+Alex Savvas I'm really sad that eternia is not on the list. I'm still playing it in my psp OTL
Nice to see Chrono Cross get some love. It almost never gets any mention. I know it isn't close to Trigger but it was still a good standalone game.
Holy crap I was sooooooooooo happy when Wild Arms was mentioned. Swear to God that was the first game I played
This makes me want to play The Legend of Dragoon again
They should have remade Xenogears!!!!
Legend of Lagaia
ty. I was expecting at least a honorable mention
yeahhhhhhh lol looked for someone to comment this!!!
+Kevin McQueary (hemanshera777) I also was expecting at least a honorable mention, so I started to look for someone sharing my frustration in the coments
I was also hoping for at least a mention. For me personally it would be high on the list.
+John White I rate it as my favorite game of all time.
I wish I could erase my memory of ff7 and star Ocean just to play them for the first time again I miss getting lost in those
1. Final Fantasy IX
2. Suikoden II
3. Legend of Dragoon
4. Legend of Legaia
5. Chrono Cross
These are my all time favorites. *1 pick per series. Btw I still have them in my PSP in case I want to bring back memories!
No Breath of Fire 3 or Parasite Eve? Boooooooooooo!
To be fair, good as these games were, they had a LOT of stiff competition.
+Itachi Uchiha Or Persona? I understand why they can't all be the list, but not even honorable mention.
+mage davee Sad to say, but it's pretty obscure.
Ken Zhang Like Dragon Valor isn't? Also technically Lunar shouldn't even be on the honorable mentions since it is a remake of a sega cd game.
mage davee Well, it's WatchMojo, they don't do much research. And their list is made by people who vote on their website.
How about legend of mana? why you didn't include it?
Next, top 10 PS2 RPGs, and make sure to include Shadow Hearts: Covenant and Tales of the Abyss!
And DQVIII, Suikoden V, Xenosaga 3, FFX, and FFXII
My top 15:
1. Final Fantasy 8
2. Final Fantasy 7
3. Chrono Cross
4. Suikoden 2
5. Grandia
6. Xenogears
7. Star Ocean 2
8. Final Fantasy Tactics
9. Legend of Legaia
10. Vandal Hearts 2
11. Vagrant Story
12. Valkyrie Profile
13. Tales of Destiny
14. The Legend of Dragoon
Lol.
Same finished it on epsxe
What a wonderful game
A bit sad no mention about FF9. My favorite FF. My top three was Chrono Cross, Xenogears and Final Fantasy 9.
Y MOG FF9 SUCKS BIG TIME DUDE . Except Mog which is cute. " kupo"
They mentioned it. You're stupid
I know it's 5 years later but... Kartia?
@@deathmilk475 That's it! Thanks.
No Legend of Mana in the list?
you can have multiple companions,
you can capture elementals by playing music,
you can capture pets and train them,
you can create your mecha golem,
you can plant seeds in your garden, harvest plant and use it for crafting,
you can make weapons and armors,
you can make music instruments,
you can change your weapon class anytime,
interesting story that you need to unlock like puzzle pieces for each new area unlocked,
awesome soundtrack,
nice 2d sprites and artworks,
and there's 2 player pvp too,
saw a few second clips on the video,
But how could you not include that?
Knew FF7 was gonna get #1 and honestly it belongs there because it was one damn hellava journey. For me, Xenogears, Vagrant Story, and Wild Arms brought the smile, as each had inspirational soundtracks and sleepless night worthy worlds. But Grandia...that you should mention Grandia. Win. Its the story of every little kid who dreamed of a great adventure some day materialized onto a cd. There is no other game (well besides Dragon Quest 7) that has a warmer spot in my heart. Sam from Lord of teh Rings said it best- 'The stories that matter."
Sidenote though: Parasite Eve 1, Valkeryie Profile, FF9, Hoshigami- Ruining Blue Earth, and Tales of Destiny cheers~~
10. Suikoden II
9. The Legend of Dragoon
8. Final Fantasy VII
7. Granstream Saga (different)
6. Dragon Valor
5. Legend of Mana (different)
4. Brave Fencer Musashi (different)
3. Vagrant Story
2. Tales of Destiny (different)
1. Star Ocean: The Second Story
Honorable Mentions
Tales of Eternia (different)
Final Fantasy VIII (different)
Grandia
Xenogears
Chrono Cross
Xenogears is not the best RPJ of all time, but it has definitively the best story. You can compare it to Dune.
Is this a joke? Why are FF8 and FF9 not there, I would assume it's because they didn't want to fill it with final fantasy games but then what the hell is final fantasy tactics doing there.
Omg I miss Legend of Dragoon so much. Best game I played PS1.
What a pity you didn't mention Jade Cocoon. While the sequel for the PS2 wasn't great at all, the first game was really something unique and special and I loved playing it. So much in fact, that I cleared the demo of it about 30 times before I could finally play the game.
My top 5:
1. FF7
2. Xenogears
3. The Legend of Dragoon
4. Chrono Cross
5. Final Fantasy VIII
I personally would have put azure dreams on the list
Azure dreams was one of the best games I ever played. Complete with 7 possible girlfriends, a casino, bowling alley and "horse racing" track, not to mention a hundred different familiars you could train, evolve and fuse. I had over 200 hours logged in on that game. Along with Final Fantasy Tactics.
+Blayne Wilson I had it on playstation and Gameboy color. I used to play it all the time
I love how people always rag on people for choosing FFVII in top ps1 lists,
Sure, both VIII and IX are amazing, and in some people's opinions, better. But you have to realize that VII holds more significance, in that it was the first FF game most westerners ever saw, and to those that already knew the series, was the first 'next-gen' release. So even if it's not better than it's sequels, it's much more important.
FF7 is overrated
not more than FF6
Victor Abysswalker people who say that final fantasy vii is overrated are the ones who don't set the story.
@@GacktSe7en because IT IS overated. Storywise FFIX, Xenogears and Suikoden 2 were way better.
final fantasy 7 and legend of the dragoon are my favorites even named my account on those games.
Nr.1 could never be any different game than the one mentioned here.
I'd order the other 2-10 a little differently, but they are in my personal top-list aswell.
Nice taste of games, i hope we are not alone ^^
@0:55 Important.
Chrono Cross has a special place in my heart
Same
THE LEGEND OF DRAGOON SHOULD BE NUMBER 1 !!!! D:
-Minor Legend of Dragoon Spoilers-
You have NO idea how happy I was to see Legend of Dragoon!
Top 3 of this list are satisfied me. Good suggestions
I usually don't do this but if Legend Of Dragoon its not in this list I'll get salty af
That's what I said!!
+Ciryatan I literally posted the same thing.... now Im salty at where it is on the damn list.....
Yeah what the fuck, 8th? atleast top 5
Andrew Hayes
You sir, are 100% correct
The game is better in terms of world, characters, story, music, and gameplay.
Its bloody fantastic, thats why its my favorite game. Not my favorite rpg, not my favorite psone game, no, MY FAVORITE FUCKING GAME PERIOD!
I Like Parasite Eve and you didn't put it there on the list????????????????
Eric Cruz wait isn't parasite eve a horror game?
Mario Ramunno A Horror RPG!!!!!!!
Eric Cruz that sounds interesting. Horror is really hit or miss for me but the rpg stuff might make me love it even of the horror isn't great
because when you like something, it HAS to be there right? -.-
No Alundra, no Valkyrie Profile, Sword of Mana, Mega Man Legends...
+Psycho Machinery Or Legend of Mana, Breath of Fire 3/4, Final Fantasy IX, Parasite Eve, etc. Pretty weird top 10 overall.
Tales of Destiny also deserves recognition
+Daniel Babineau I don't mean to sound like a jerk, but why is it weird?
Ken Zhang It's... odd, I guess. They're all very popular games.
Popular means no the best. As far as i love FF VII, i like IX more. That's a game that doesn't receive the respect it deserves...
Love the list. You hit all the series that I was thinking of (not my order, but who cares). My only criticism is that you didn't mention Legend of Dragoon's combos.
My favorites
10. Lunar 2
9. Legend of Dragoon
8. Valkyrie profile
7. Breath of fire 4
6. Ff tactics
5. Xenogears
4. Star Ocean 2
3. Final fantasy 9
2. Suikoden 2
1. Chrono Cross
