Thank you for giving an objective review Oni! She is indeed inconsistent with looping, but she has several other strengths aside from farming that get overlooked just because she isn't the next Meltryllis Summer. And a free NP5 makes her a very viable servant for anyone who is lacking in the Lancer department in general. EDIT: And I also kinda hate how some people rate an AoE servant on their looping potential alone. Yeah, looping is great for every day farming, but looping isn't the be-all end-all to a servant.
I think what throws people off is the fact that she is an AOE. Her kit seems like its designed for a ST Boss Battle/Challenge Quest Servant. She’s definitely not bad, but she has a weird mismatch with her NP. One interesting way Lasagna could buff her, they could make it so her 3rd skill changes her NP type to a ST. It would give her not only a kit that actually fits her, but some versatility as well. Erice is a character who has a lot of potential in her. One or two buffs (be it with instant death or my aforementioned ST suggestion) could easily turn her from a good servant, into a broken welfare
@@harrya9458 the problem is that, if you go for the ST Arts looper boss killer, she'd be against Kenshin, who came just a week earlier than Erice, and Vlad. In fact, her kit is very similar to Kenshin as a crit arts lancer with buff removal (one offensive and the other defensive).
Agree. People just go nuts with "muh farming". You can farm with almost anything in the Castoria World even if you don't have her. Time to get over it.
@@michaelmcdoesntexist1459 Arts doesn't have an easily accessible user among Lancers though. The first F2P Arts Lancer Looper is Anning, who we literally just got in JP. Before her the only Arts loopers are Fionn, Melt and Vritra, all of whom are Gold, Vritra and Fionn don't have many fans and thus aren't pulled often and Melt requires a couple extra copies to work as well as she should by certain standards. Having an easy to access (and most importantly, free) Arts Looper would have certainly been a great boon for people who would have preferred to not have to roll for any of the previous three Gold Servants or wait for the recently revealed (and also very low damaging) Bronze Servant, so while I agree that disparaging a Servant for not being a certain thing and ignoring all the good qualities they do have is erroneous, I also fully understand the frustration that comes with having her be *so close* to being so incredibly convenient for what is, at the end of the day, the thing that most FGO players do whenever they're playing the game. It's an unfortunate Catch-22 for Erice that I hope can be rectified if they ever hand her an NP upgrade since literally all she needs to be one of, if not the best Lancer Arts Looper is extra damage and more consistent looping ability.

If this ce ever did come. Nitocris assasin would be the top choice for it even at np 1 as she can loop an np with ease. Erice would probably need extra damage to loop as arts units rather take black grail for damage than some 0 death ce. I mean that's why I raised a bond/qp ce for my farming as it was all attack so it actually had a use in my farming comps

Let me see, out of the collab welfare servants, we have: Irisviel: eh, year one servant they pretty much gave up on. BB: super strong Shiki: super strong, yet buffed to ridiculous level Kuro: super strong, with meh level of buff Sieg: ridiculous with double Castoria. Gray: quite good, yet buffed into stardom these days. If this is a trend, I would expect the next time they rerun requiem, Erice is gonna get fixed. No, they wouldn’t put the buff removal first or get rid of the instant death. But there might a chance that they gonna give her the death proc AFTER damage. Keep your finger crossed, people.
I was dead when I found out there isn't a Requiem Rerun yet. :( My fear of there never being one made me roll the Banner! (got two copies of dino oni, but failed to get best boi Voyager)
Regardless if she is good or not, I can’t wait to get her. I read the first volume of Requiem (which I hope gets a proper English release) and I grew to like Erice, Voyager and Kijyo Koyo (the latter 2 whom I’m praying I get) very quickly. I’m still bummed out that they didn’t add in Lucius Longinus and Nzambi but w/e. (I also wanted Galahad Alter but I get why he couldn’t get in).
I don't remember if the Apocrypha rerun added any new servants (not sure how I forgot already considering NA just had it fairly recently), and I know that the two times we got the Bunyan event before the current one we didn't get any new servants, but from what I can remember the other collab events for FGO have added at least 1 new servant whenever there's been a rerun for them (Fujino in the KnK rerun, Kingprotea in the SE.RA.PH. rerun (if you want to count that as a collab I'm pretty sure it counts), Miyu in the Prisma Illya rerun, Hephaestion for the Case Files rerun and I think that's it). So chances are whenever the Requiem collab event gets a rerun we're possibly going to get a new servant based on the instances for collab reruns having new servants more often than not. Good luck rolling for Voyager and Kijyo Koyo!!!
@@MACZ2021 Apocrypha didn't add a new servant iirc as all of their servants are already in the game. Other than that, I believe all collabs add a new servant on their rerun.

@@MACZ2021 the Apocrypha rerun lacked servants to add since all of the main servants were already in the game, and there’s not a lot of related servants to even create a Pseudo Servant of one of the masters (at best they could have added an Argonaut). So they just swapped the banner to include Astolfo Saber and called it a day. This is not the case with Requiem, which has SEVERAL servants collecting dust thanks to Meteo just seemingly throwing a fit and refusing to write volume 3.

Nitocris summer meanwhile would become the only real looper in game as I managed to make her loop myself on boss waves and she gets a lot back
While I would love to 10/10/10 Erice, I'm gonna be content with letting those skill mats accumulate over time. For now I just want to NP5 and full ascension her for that saucy FA art.
As I was watching the video and you used her NP I realized I don't think I'd actually ever seen her NP before. Then I realized I don't think I've even seen her attack animations. It's interesting how it almost seems like she's a forgotten servant seeing how I have barely seen anything about her.
I like water-themed attacks and one thing that counts a lot for me its the attack animations. If Fionn didnt received his already, i would use her. But i cant turn down my homie now that he helped me clear India Lostbelt.
I think a good way to alleviate the NP gain issue with death procs is just add an effect that gives the servant a 10% NP charge everytime they proc death on an enemy.
No. Just, no. If they really wanted to fix her a simple effect activation swap would do, nothing super oddly busted and out of place as IK np charges. She's good, she's perfect, just purposely done a bit wrong as to limit her.
Really don't see it as out of place, gimping the NP gain of instant death servants by having them not gain any benefits from doing so just seems like an oversight to me. Although my proposal is more so addressed to all servants with instant death capabilities, can't speak much for Erice or how "perfect" she may or may not be yet though, according to Oni she seems adequate at least.
@@Gaming_Pessimist You, you aren't supposed to make IK servants as the all be all, because if they were, then they'd make a large portion of other servants not worth it aside for personal preference. She's good because despite her purposely done wrong NP, you CAN still use her, effort or not effort. And, because she's not the sole thing to even use, other aoe lancers can still be used. She's perfect as a welfare, she's good as a unit. And, IK, while having some particular flaws is the way that it should be. There's no need for NP gain, and if you *really* want it, there's better ways than a ridiculous flat NP charge. It's not worth ruining a lot of things for something that only about 15 or so servants actually actively use in a roster of hundreds different ones that are supposed to be used as well. If they really do what you're suggesting, then Erice (and Nitocris) with Castoria would literally be the only aoe lancer to use. 30% death chance (along with possible overcharge) + her 10 Reaper skill 100% success rate for 3T is an almost guaranteed 30% for silvers and an absolute for bronzes. At that point, why use anyone else? You get eye candy, she's free NP5, and a single Castoria would be sufficient. Not including, other IK, like gramps who would then casually gain 10% from time to time even when using not arts cards. That's as good as literally having a np charge with no actual skill. It's not an oversight, it's called balance and having the foresight to not utterly make one particular type of servant way too op. Then again, they *DID* make Castoria. So, maybe, conditional foresight, because they don't want another Kintoki or something.
I don't think it would have as much of a dramatic effect as you seem to believe. Providing a small NP gain (or even some other type of buff for that matter) when you proc death, would by no means make them the end all be all because they would still be outperformed by loopers with much higher NP gain stats anyways. FGO is already a PvE game where you can clear 95% of the content with whoever you want. Other than a fraction of the player base who likes to get real sweaty over optimization and numbers no one would care even if the improvement did "break" them, which it wouldn't.
Lasagne really really needs to rework the instant death mechanic. In practically every case it is a liability more than an advantage. At the very least it should be applied after damage.
I'd been looking forward to Erice for quite awhile, and I'm happy to Finally have her!!! ^_^ I'm just upset that her NP's Insta-Kill Effect happens Before Damage since her NP is an Arts NP; when Erice gets her (Much Needed) Buff to her NP (And it Better Happen!!!), Literally all that needs to be done is the Following: Increase her NP Damage Modifier so she does more Damage, and switch the Effects on her NP removing Defensive Buffs from Enemies and the one that Insta-Kills Enemies so that the Defensive Buff Removal happens Before Damage and the Insta-Kill Effect happens AFTER DAMAGE so that way Erice can Loop!!!! It's LITERALLY THAT SIMPLE, and I hope and pray that Erice gets this exact Buff. Beyond that, I see Erice as a Great Challenge Quest Servant with her Skill Set, and if I find a chance to do so, I'm looking forward to trying to see if I can Solo a Challenge Quest with her!!! ^_^

she was my 1st welfare in jp. As a new player, couldn't do much. She is at level 40 np1. I hope we will get her rerun or whatever they did with Liz so that I can get her properly. As for NA, yeah I am not missing her
@@dindapriska I was still a new player. So, there were multiple factors but the most important one was that I didn't know that there was a welfare and I had to farm for her. I still didn't join any community because as I said, I just started playing the game. Also, jp language was a problem since I had to click on everything blindly. Apple was another issue since as a new player I didn't have that many apples and since my player level was very low, I didn't get enough ap per apple
@@dindapriska Not really. I still was trying to understand the game and wasn't serious enough to look for guides. Because I thought events were for materials and it wouldn't be a big loss if I didn't start collecting materials right away

you only need 3 of them to farm one for each phase and most of them have an NP battery you dont even need a support i dont see why some people think you must have a support or NP loop to farm, that's stupid
1) Saves you space you can devote to bond leveling and event drop boosts instead of needing like three imaginary elements/Kscopes 2) Have you _seen_ the health numbers enemies in free quests have sometimes?
i have yet to find any event free quest that's unbeatable in 3turn with dantes and skadi that said, you dont even need ANY other farmer besides dantes per se if you are going to argue about that if not, my points still stand. you only need 3 servants regardless. and the game has gone on for 5yrs for NA and TW, and 6.5yr for JP. if you still dont have at least 3 scopes and a few MLB sakuras, i dont know what you are doing.

Finally, a servant guide on Utsumi Erice that doesn't call her trash. I get that lot of people hate the whole instinctive death mechanic for most servants especially for her, but that doesn't mean that she deserve to be called trash because of that. That's completely unfair to her and ignores all of her good qualities. So, thank you G&A reviews for giving Utsumi Erice a proper servant review. Also, I look forward to your review on Voyager and Kijyo Koyo.
And where will you use her? Even if they make a super high health farm node with high death she still wouldn't be viable. Ashiya Kiara summer and nitocris caster would do the job better than her. Cq wise melt and fionn would still loop better with normal mods do you would need a hyper niche situation like maou nobu fans defending her say with zues. Erice isn't bad but she has no real uses which is why she isn't on the best welfare list.
@@ivanbluecool Actually I do plan to use her a lot when I'm farming for Embers. I have a max limit Kaleidoscope craft essence that I can put on her when I go to farm for the archer ember. I can also put her on my team for farming the archer and berserker enemies for the silver and gold monuments. I'm definitely going to put this free servants to good use.
@@ivanbluecool Also, someone once told me to never look a gift horse in the mouth, especially in front of the person who's giving you the horse. Erice is a free servant given to us just for completing the event. I know a lot of people who are just F2 players, and they're grateful for any free servant they get from an event. I mean, if people don't want her, then they don't have to play the event. There's no reason to be bashing a character just because they don't like her or her kit.

Nobody uses them either but they are also free meanwhile Spartacus and asako do what they do and better. Erice meanwhile just lost that right to Mary anning who is even more f2p than erice and can actually loop like Jason giving her a purpose on the team. All that would only make erice a fodder to beat a tower event 10 seconds faster being an extra slot. I'm all for free units but not for useless ones that I can't find something to use with her. I'd say Shiki, but she's Single Target. So if you're bringing her to a fight... well, first of all, why aren't you running Jack or Kama? Second, you're most likely fighting a boss, who might as well be Death Immune, so Death on NP before those hits doesn't really matter, as it'll almost never land.
Gacha Hell is Bad civ, but Bone Hell is the worst of all. But you thought there will be Bunnyfest with 3 Bones each box. WRONG! Just for the Wellfares Shuten, Gray and Erice you need over 300 Bones. Regardless if she is good or not, I can’t wait to get her. I read the first volume of Requiem (which I hope gets a proper English release) and I grew to like Erice, Voyager and Kijyo Koyo (the latter 2 whom I’m praying I get) very quickly. I’m still bummed out that they didn’t add in Lucius Longinus and Nzambi but w/e. (I also wanted Galahad Alter but I get why he couldn’t get in).
I don't remember if the Apocrypha rerun added any new servants (not sure how I forgot already considering NA just had it fairly recently), and I know that the two times we got the Bunyan event before the current one we didn't get any new servants, but from what I can remember the other collab events for FGO have added at least 1 new servant whenever there's been a rerun for them (Fujino in the KnK rerun, Kingprotea in the SE.RA.PH. rerun (if you want to count that as a collab I'm pretty sure it counts), Miyu in the Prisma Illya rerun, Hephaestion for the Case Files rerun and I think that's it).
So chances are whenever the Requiem collab event gets a rerun we're possibly going to get a new servant based on the instances for collab reruns having new servants more often than not.

@@MACZ2021 Apocrypha didn't add a new servant iirc as all of their servants are already in the game. Other than that, I believe all collabs add a new servant on their rerun.
@@dindapriska thanks for clearing that up. I think what was throwing me off was I kept thinking there was something else new to it besides Mordred's outfit that was added with the rerun.
@@MACZ2021 the Apocrypha rerun lacked servants to add since all of the main servants were already in the game, and there’s not a lot of related servants to even create a Pseudo Servant of one of the masters (at best they could have added an Argonaut). So they just swapped the banner to include Astolfo Saber and called it a day.
This is not the case with Requiem, which has SEVERAL servants collecting dust thanks to Meteo just seemingly throwing a fit and refusing to write volume 3.

Nitocris summer meanwhile would become the only real looper in game as I managed to make her loop myself on boss waves and she gets a lot back

As I was watching the video and you used her NP I realized I don't think I'd actually ever seen her NP before. Then I realized I don't think I've even seen her attack animations. It's interesting how it almost seems like she's a forgotten servant seeing how I have barely seen anything about her.
Because as a looper she's outclassed by Fionn and Melt and her gimmick isn't reliable at all, so she has no particular niche

I like water-themed attacks and one thing that counts a lot for me its the attack animations. If Fionn didnt received his already, i would use her. But i cant turn down my homie now that he helped me clear India Lostbelt.

I think a good way to alleviate the NP gain issue with death procs is just add an effect that gives the servant a 10% NP charge everytime they proc death on an enemy.
No. Just, no. If they really wanted to fix her a simple effect activation swap would do, nothing super oddly busted and out of place as IK np charges.
She's good, she's perfect, just purposely done a bit wrong as to limit her.
Really don't see it as out of place, gimping the NP gain of instant death servants by having them not gain any benefits from doing so just seems like an oversight to me. Although my proposal is more so addressed to all servants with instant death capabilities, can't speak much for Erice or how "perfect" she may or may not be yet though, according to Oni she seems adequate at least.
@@Gaming_Pessimist You, you aren't supposed to make IK servants as the all be all, because if they were, then they'd make a large portion of other servants not worth it aside for personal preference.
She's good because despite her purposely done wrong NP, you CAN still use her, effort or not effort. And, because she's not the sole thing to even use, other aoe lancers can still be used.
She's perfect as a welfare, she's good as a unit.
And, IK, while having some particular flaws is the way that it should be. There's no need for NP gain, and if you *really* want it, there's better ways than a ridiculous flat NP charge.
It's not worth ruining a lot of things for something that only about 15 or so servants actually actively use in a roster of hundreds different ones that are supposed to be used as well.
If they really do what you're suggesting, then Erice (and Nitocris) with Castoria would literally be the only aoe lancer to use.
30% death chance (along with possible overcharge) + her 10 Reaper skill 100% success rate for 3T is an almost guaranteed 30% for silvers and an absolute for bronzes.
At that point, why use anyone else? You get eye candy, she's free NP5, and a single Castoria would be sufficient.
Not including, other IK, like gramps who would then casually gain 10% from time to time even when using not arts cards. That's as good as literally having a np charge with no actual skill.
It's not an oversight, it's called balance and having the foresight to not utterly make one particular type of servant way too op. Then again, they *DID* make Castoria.
So, maybe, conditional foresight, because they don't want another Kintoki or something.
I don't think it would have as much of a dramatic effect as you seem to believe. Providing a small NP gain (or even some other type of buff for that matter) when you proc death, would by no means make them the end all be all because they would still be outperformed by loopers with much higher NP gain stats anyways. FGO is already a PvE game where you can clear 95% of the content with whoever you want. Other than a fraction of the player base who likes to get real sweaty over optimization and numbers no one would care even if the improvement did "break" them, which it wouldn't.

Lasagne really really needs to rework the instant death mechanic. In practically every case it is a liability more than an advantage. At the very least it should be applied after damage.

I'd been looking forward to Erice for quite awhile, and I'm happy to Finally have her!!! ^_^ I'm just upset that her NP's Insta-Kill Effect happens Before Damage since her NP is an Arts NP; when Erice gets her (Much Needed) Buff to her NP (And it Better Happen!!!), Literally all that needs to be done is the Following: Increase her NP Damage Modifier so she does more Damage, and switch the Effects on her NP removing Defensive Buffs from Enemies and the one that Insta-Kills Enemies so that the Defensive Buff Removal happens Before Damage and the Insta-Kill Effect happens AFTER DAMAGE so that way Erice can Loop!!!! It's LITERALLY THAT SIMPLE, and I hope and pray that Erice gets this exact Buff. Beyond that, I see Erice as a Great Challenge Quest Servant with her Skill Set, and if I find a chance to do so, I'm looking forward to trying to see if I can Solo a Challenge Quest with her!!! ^_^
Despite my diligence, I failed to acquire Nagao Kagetora. Hopefully, I'll be able to redeem myself by recruiting Erice Utsumi instead. Wish me (and everyone else who plays at the upcoming event) the best of luck - and may the Thousand Fortunes bless us! :)

Hi, I got a quick question to ask, do you know how many lottery events there are this year for Fgo N.A. server? I'm asking since I remembered hearing that we had the dance tournament in the land of shadows, the Christmas re-run, and this year's own Christmas event.
There are 3, the 3 you mentioned. The only thing to note is that the rerun is limited to 10 boxes, so it may feel more like 2 with a bonus.

she was my 1st welfare in jp. As a new player, couldn't do much. She is at level 40 np1. I hope we will get her rerun or whatever they did with Liz so that I can get her properly. As for NA, yeah I am not missing her

@@dindapriska I was still a new player. So, there were multiple factors but the most important one was that I didn't know that there was a welfare and I had to farm for her. I still didn't join any community because as I said, I just started playing the game. Also, jp language was a problem since I had to click on everything blindly.
Apple was another issue since as a new player I didn't have that many apples and since my player level was very low, I didn't get enough ap per apple

And none of them are guaranteed freebies so that's already a completely different metric to judge by.

i dont see why some people think you must have a support or NP loop to farm, that's stupid
1) Saves you space you can devote to bond leveling and event drop boosts instead of needing like three imaginary elements/Kscopes
2) Have you _seen_ the health numbers enemies in free quests have sometimes?
i have yet to find any event free quest that's unbeatable in 3turn with dantes and skadi
that said, you dont even need ANY other farmer besides dantes per se if you are going to argue about that
if not, my points still stand. you only need 3 servants regardless.
and the game has gone on for 5yrs for NA and TW, and 6.5yr for JP. if you still dont have at least 3 scopes and a few MLB sakuras, i dont know what you are doing.

Finally, a servant guide on Utsumi Erice that doesn't call her trash.
I get that lot of people hate the whole instinctive death mechanic for most servants especially for her, but that doesn't mean that she deserve to be called trash because of that. That's completely unfair to her and ignores all of her good qualities.

And where will you use her? Even if they make a super high health farm node with high death she still wouldn't be viable. Ashiya Kiara summer and nitocris caster would do the job better than her.
Cq wise melt and fionn would still loop better with normal mods do you would need a hyper niche situation like maou nobu fans defending her say with zues.
Erice isn't bad but she has no real uses which is why she isn't on the best welfare list.
@@ivanbluecool Actually I do plan to use her a lot when I'm farming for Embers. I have a max limit Kaleidoscope craft essence that I can put on her when I go to farm for the archer ember.
I can also put her on my team for farming the archer and berserker enemies for the silver and gold monuments.
I'm definitely going to put this free servants to good use.

Erice is a free servant given to us just for completing the event. I know a lot of people who are just F2 players, and they're grateful for any free servant they get from an event.
I mean, if people don't want her, then they don't have to play the event. There's no reason to be bashing a character just because they don't like her or her kit.

Oh there is a lot to bash about her event Character and kit. I'm not gonna be nice because I pity her and how they did Requiem immediately after the first book. I remember how much low IQ people say kiyohime or serenity are good. Nobody uses them either but they are also free meanwhile Spartacus and asako do what they do and better. Erice meanwhile just lost that right to Mary anning who is even more f2p than erice and can actually loop like Jason giving her a purpose on the team.
All that would only make erice a fodder to beat a tower event 10 seconds faster being an extra slot. I'm all for free units but not for useless ones that I can't find something to use with her. I'll get her but I have no 0 use for her especially when castoria comes. Why do you think people bash her? It's not because you are the only one who is right. It's just a general fact that if a unit has no uses they get forgetable status immediately.

I'd say Shiki, but she's Single Target. So if you're bringing her to a fight... well, first of all, why aren't you running Jack or Kama? Second, you're most likely fighting a boss, who might as well be Death Immune, so Death on NP before those hits doesn't really matter, as it'll almost never land.
Gacha Hell is Bad civ, but Bone Hell is the worst of all. But you thought there will be Bunnyfest with 3 Bones each box. WRONG! Just for the Wellfares Shuten, Gray and Erice you need over 300 Bones. So 100 Boxes for 3 Servants. And i also want to Level my Emiya Assassin and Fion. Bone Hell is cruel :')
