I’ve always loved the fitness devices that work one area of the body (like abs) yet in the after photo they all of a sudden have jacked arms, legs, and magically, better hair.
And a tan!
And sometimes tattoos XD
You can even see in 3:06 that they just change the lighting, in the before photo he's just pushing his stomach out and not flexing

I am part of the generation that fell asleep to Bare minerals foundation commercials and woke up to magic bullet commercials on the tv, so I find this both comforting and nostalgic in a way.

my favorite were the wen commercials. Then my mom had a client gift her a whole set of their fancy shampoo/conditioner concoction and it felt like the best day of my life. They smelled SO good and made my hair feel amazing. I miss them now.

I remember seeing a similar product years ago, and their claim was you can feel that your pants get looser within "X" amount of minutes after using this belt. Everyone they "interviewed" the before shot everyone's pants were buttoned, zipped, belts buckled. Then in the after shot, the actors were squealing "Oh my gosh, my pants ARE looser, I can barely keep them up." And of course, the After shot everyone's pants were, unbuckled, unbuttoned, zippers halfway down. I'm sure some sucker bought their claim.
love how the pictures of the 2 guys before and after you can still literally see their abs in the before, and the curve of their back pushing their gut out

This is always funny to me, because it reminds me of Wayne and Brent Gretzky, who hold the NHL record for most combined points by two brothers. The thing is, that's 2,857 for Wayne and 4 for Brent.

Scott you have no idea how much I agree with your stance on "combined years of experience"
People don't realize that "up to 4 inches" is the same as "up to 100 inches." It means anything between near ZERO to that number. Thats why stores get away with saying "up to 70% off!" and then you walk in and everything is only 10% off. Well, 10% is in the range "up to" 70%.
I love how all the "progress" pics just have them pushing out their gut in the before and flexing in the after.
If each muscle contraction with this was equivalent to the contraction you get with a crunch, it would be so uncomfortable or painful. Imagine your muscles contracting as if they are picking up half your weight in a sit up but you’re unwillingly contracting muscles in a position where you just end up fighting the pull of the muscles.

Pretty early on I called it's use being for disability and they were just selling it to a "normie" audience. I would love a whole episode about items actually used for disabled folks whose ADs are targeted to the abled. You could even get some Disabled youtubers to guest and give their opinion.

My sister bought one of those types of belts in the early 2000's from an infomercial. She ended up getting blisters under her belly skin, it was apparantly extremely painful.

This is also the idea of a TENS machine which is used to help with period pain. It's also what they'll use to do those "dudes simulate period/birthing pain" videos
While I do have one of these get abs without trying maschines, I have to say that really helps with back pain when you're on your period. Sometimes I my stomach area is sore because I use it a bit too much.
And before someone says it: Yes I know I won't get me abs of steel from it but it does help to tone your midsection.
WOW! Not only do you get jacked abs. But you suddenly look tanned as well.

I love how the commercial in german specifices that the product would make you lose (the equivalent of) 7 pounds and 3 inches, and the english voiceover just rounds up to 10 pounds and 4 inches. Like theyre already bullshitting but i guess they decided they need to make it sound better than they even claim in the first place.

Light hitting to the abdomen can absolutely help with the toning behind that washboard look. But it doesn’t do anything in terms of actually building muscle

I got an ad for basically the same ad about a similar belt
It's just a TENS machine. They're great machines, but they're not meant for building muscle, or losing weight. Mostly pain management. I've used a product exactly like this called the Revitive on my legs for years. It's for circulation for diabetics, senior citizens, etc. I've spent years putting my calf muscles through major contractions, and there has been zero visual difference made. My circulation did improve, muscle cramps stopped, and restless leg stopped, but there was zero change in the appearance of my calves, and if I stop using the machine for a couple of days, the symptoms of restless leg come back.

Oh, thank you for pointing out that "combined experience" thing, that always makes me laugh. Sure, there's some benefit of shared yet different work experience, but, say, most programmers I know have worked with linked lists - but we can't count up all the time each of them has used a linked list to make it sound like we've got combined hundreds of years of linked list experience. We all have the same basic experience, with maybe a couple of special tips and tricks to use that not everyone knows yet.. but it's far from being able to claim hundreds of years.

im the opposite of fit, ive got more muscle than your average fat guy but still definitely fat, and i could always get the maximum score on the situp tests in school, despite not having the strength to do a single pushup

The most weight you should be losing healthily is like 8-10 lbs a month. Losing four inches of your waist in two weeks probably means an aggressive parasite is eating you from the inside.

Oh god, I was hoping this was gonna turn out to be a tester video and when it did I was so very happy.
People get surprised at how different a person can look simply based on lighting and flexing. Like at the gym doing reps I look at myself and go “good god who is that ripped beast” and then at home it’s just “oh yeah I’m still just a skinny guy with below average build”
