LOVE. THE. BACKGROUND. MUSIC! That is what set OLTL apart - that and these addictive, completely unmissable and over the top stories. Thanks for posting.
I loved the background music especially the Tina and Cord theme.. This one with Maria is awesome also back then Asa had his own too.. This was such a great touch
Given that she's literally running for her life, Viki might actually try to pound the pavement a little bit faster, instead of that dainty little ladylike trot she's doing.
It’s interesting that Maria had qualms about killing Viki here, but would have no such qualms doing the same to Tina before Tina (by sheer dumb luck) accidentally killed Maria.
That music at the end is classic -- it's all a bit video gameish. I love the running too. Erika really commits herself to these scenes and makes them work. The goodbye to Joe is touching. And crazy Maria, she's hypnotic. Funny how she had no problem with killing later on. I guess she gradually became more and more unhinged.
It's interesting that you mentioned "Star Trek" and "Maria Roberts" in the same sentence because the actress, BarBara Luna, (who portrayed Roberts) somewhat returned to the ST world per se, not very long ago, by guest starring in an episode of the awesome fan-made series, "Star Trek: Phase 2 (aka New Voyages). Said episode is entitled "Enemy Starfleet." If you're interested, it right here on UA-cam.
Who in the world would commend Paul Rauch for anything? That racist bastard is burning in hell for getting rid of AND the terrible treatment of Ellen Holly, Lillian Hayman and Al Freeman, Jr. If not for the character of Clara "Carla" Gray and the "reveal" that she was actually African-American, OLTL would have been cancelled back in 1970--relegated to the dustbin of forgotten soaps like such "greats" as "Somerset" and "Our Private World."
In my opinion, what Ms. Holly accused Erika Slezak of, is completely despicable! Ellen Holly & Al Freeman Jr. as Carla & Ed were one of my favorite couples when I was growing up with this show, and it sucked when their characters were written off. Holly's never been shy about expressing her bitterness at being let go from the show, but to accuse someone with Slezak's impeccable reputation of having her fired AND using such disgusting language, is utterly despicable! I don't believe it, and considering the support for Slezak when the accusation was made, neither does anyone else.
I've been waiting to see this. I never saw it originally. Thank you
That background music was always playing when MARIA and later URSELA where up to no good. It was sooo good and really underscored the drama!!!

Great music

I loved that background music, too. It was almost like a theme for the character of Maria Roberts.
I love Maria, I wished she was on there longer. I always wondered if Ursula's stories was meant for Maria.
Maria still had a conscience here. It wasn't until after she lost Cord that she went completely off the deep end.

Paul Rauch's idea of racial diversity on this show was having John Amos playing Captain Bill Moore.
LOL. So heaven looks like the Star Trek Enterprise. OLTL certainly had some crazy characters. Maria Roberts and then Ursula showed up. Classic days

That last sentence should read, "it's right here on UA-cam."

LOL ThorneAstor, but I always wonder... these executive producers have budgets for the storylines, where does the money come from ?
Reason why Daytime no longer has money - Paul Raunch spent it all.
I enjoyed this storyline this storyline
@VickRobCal I believe they get money from sponsors and if the sponsors make money, they get some.
Maria was just a bad
Ellen Holly has some pretty bad things to say about Erika Slezak, too.......
