Man.....if this doesn't just drip of the late 60's. It's in large part to that "wavy" organ.....what did they call them? All bands had 'em back then.... a Hammond B-3 I think. They'd run it thru Leslie speakers and it'd make that bitchin "wavy" sound that I still love. I was 12-13 when this came out.....I'm 67 now. What an era for music....whew!
You are correct. This is a Hammond B-3 with Leslie (rotating speakers) 147, recorded in 1967 at the RCA studio on Chicago. I am the keyboadrist "Lance" (a nickname), and also did the celeste parts. Don, now deceased, did lead, double lead, and some background vocals. Guy did guitar and background vocals. Mike did drums and background vocals. Virgil, also deceased, was the bassist.
@@waynenelson7654 WOW! Man, thanks "Lance" for weighing in and responding to my post. Pretty darn cool in my book. To put the years in perspective, I was in 7th grade out in Tucson back in '67......and I'll turn 70 in 2 more days (absolutely cannot believe it....I should be dead so many times over). Guess the Good Lord spared me knowing how much I still dig listening to these oldies. Lance, you mentioned Don......was that Don Covay? I sure know his name, always thought he was a California guy. Do you still correspond with any of the remaining fellas in your band? How's your health now, bro? Thanks again ....and God Bless us all and Merry Christmas to all as well. HIt me back Lance, if he spirit moves you. BTW.....I'm going thru cancer radiation and thank God for UA-cam and these oldies....it sure helps the rough moments. But make no mistake....I'm still a frickkin' ROCKER and always will be. Thx again. joelintucson
@@larissagasca5750 I always thought the original version was recorded by The Five Emprees, if the information on Discogs is accurate it's from 1965, one year before the Daughters of Eve's version.

Is this the original or is the daughters of eve the original? Wabie did a cover a couple years ago when it became popular on social media after many decades. Love this hidden gem!

I was just looking for samples. So much inspiration in this song. Thanks youtube algorithm.
Killer 60s psych with black 50s feelings....🖤💀😎
Interesting to hear an obscure band cover another obscure song by an already obscure group from around the same time period
That's so funny!

Hermosa 🖤 Thank you for sharing this jewel!
I really like both recordings of this song I've heard, this and Daughters of Eve. I don't understand why it didn't become a hit or more well-known.
Debbie Dovale is the original artist that sang this song so check out her version also GINNY SATIN covers it and does a great job
