Super underrated player, I watch a lot of Blazers. A better & more consistent PJ Washington
I don't know, he's 30 (and injury prone) and on a 4y 33m/yr contract (even with the increasing cap, that contract is 20% of the cap).
He has decent - good self creation but most contenders already have 2 creators better than him.
He's also pretty unplayable at the POA and dies on every screen and I feel like his putrid rebounding more than negates his help defense.
So all in all I feel like he's pretty overvalued
don't want him on the Mavs. would rather get Kuzma.

I'd love the mavs to get Bogdan from Atl, they seem to be on a fire sale... He's cheaper and can cover The minutes Luka and Kai are on the bench. Solid 15-18 on good efficiency.

If the opportunity is there, I'd want Dallas to pull the trigger on Jerami 100%. However, with the teams he's played for, I would not be surprised if he was Christian Wood 2.0.
CWood would've been better if he played PF next to Gaff and Lively tho... rather than playing C with THJ or Pinson playing PF. 😅 Team is great defensively now assuming we resign DJJ so Grant wont be relied upon for his defense so much... But needs to always bring offense.

If he doesn’t work you have a 30milion hole in your roster and very little draft picks left. It’s not a good idea. Mavs just have to stay patient and see if a good 2 way player can wants out.

He had like a 8 game stretch with the mavs that he tried to play defense and he was actually decent but it didn't last.
Yes he would be better playing next to a good Center but I think Derek Lively will be a much better player then Cwood, and they would occupy a similar role so it worked for the mavs.
Im sure he wont be like C Wood. First of all, we're in a MUCH better position rn than when c wood came in. Pinson, mcgee, bullock, bertans... we had powell as our starting center when he came in lol. Grant would only be required to be the 3rd scorer. If we can somehow fleece portland and not give up a whole lot, its a no brainer for me.
There would've been no urgency to traxe Jerami Grant if the Blazers drafted Amen Thompson

Calm down. We got fucking MVP, 50-40-90 guy, a rookie who defends 1-5 and rim plus amazing finisher, excellent defenders and shooters. Dont be afraid of Wolves and Pelicans. Even OKC didnt fill their major wholes.

@JazzYachtrocker as an Atlanta fan, we gave up a nice young asset in AJ Griffin, who was willing to come off the bench, for pennies on the dollar. Our front office has no idea what they're doing.

With the Luka Kyrie backcourt your wing has to be a very specific player. He would have to take PJ spot most likely
I agree with everything Slightly said about Jerami Grant. He would be the perfect 3rd option on the Mavs and he can create his own shot as well. Plus he has a tremendous eltie defensive skill set. Yes ge is 30 years old but again look at his contract numbers. Its really not that bad because look at what Paul George would make onto his next contract and vompared that to Grant. Who would you take? Personally I would take Jerami Grant easily because him with Luka and Kyrie would become the kost deadliest "Big 3" in the NBA and I really do think that Portland is gonna want to move him. Pod Cast Maverick was being skeptical on the Jerami Grant stuff all night and I really dont think that they should be. Grant is an exceptional great player and he wants to be on a winning team. If the Mavericks found some way to land Grant and bring back DJJ on the MLE, then its a successful offseason for Nico Harrison and I truly think that the Mavs can go back to the Finals next year with a lineup like this:

Im sure that Portlabd would want a young player and picks for Grant but be honest do the Mavs really even want that 2025 1st or 2031 1st in their pockets? I mean we dont know whats gonna happen in 2031!!! Heck we dont even know if Luka and Kyrie will even be here in 2031!!! Im just saying like if youre trying to win right now, then you gotta make the all in move on Jerami Grant like ASAP. I always love when Slightly breaks down the deep stats. It was his DJJ info video that made me a believer in DJJ before he played with the Mavs. In fact it looked so good I was complaining they didn't give him the Curry deal so they could keep him. A guaranteed Rotation hustle defender. Course he was even better than that with us. but yeah the mavs didn't cook enough on that one either.

You'd have to use PJ as the point of attack defender. He can do it, I just don't know if you want him doing it every night for most of the night. So you'd have to figure out something. But for the Mavs you know going into this that you're trading a little defense for some offense. The thing that makes Grant so appealing is that it's only a little defense you're giving up for the offense you're getting.
And he'd be a great fit offensively. Really great catch & shooter who you can certainly go to the iso with whenever he's got a clear mismatch.

Im not a big fan of Grant. And i dont agree that our defensive scheme fits him. For example if we didnt have legit poa defender against OKC, SGA and Jdub would have easily got in the rim. Scheme was put pressure on the ball handler, fill the gaps one step away from shooters. This will fail if first or second part fails itself.
I still think we need to have patience, seek opportunity and buy when it comes. In summer teams feel less threatened so price is always high. Kyrie and PJ were asking out remember. We might plug a great 3nD guy in deadline if we dont hurry now.
against thunder, jerami grant can basically hunt 1-4 of thunders starting lineup. all are mismatches. grant will make us versatile like we are last playoffs. aside from luka and kyrie (maybe pj), we always try another option if someone in the lineup is unplayable in a series(because most of our guys are inconsistent). Jerami Grant basically gives us another option. You can play Grant at 4 most of the time against thunder and stagger pj and djj at 3. if pj and grant is on the same lineup you can basically find an easy mismatch with thunder being small and skinny.

There’s definitely some positives in adding Grant but I’m just not willing to get rid of our last first round picks for him. I think someone better probably arises for the Mavs next trade deadline/off-szn. The Mavs are a hot destination now maybe if we were coming off not making the playoffs again I’d be willing to do the trade.

I think I like Wiggins more, ik there’s concerns offensively and if doesn’t perform we’re kinda stuck with him but defensively speaking he is a much better fit and we aren’t that far removed from him being arguably the 2nd best player on a finals team and for the Mavs he wouldn’t have to be more than 3rd option too often. Not to mention some of the way he’s viewed right now we could actually get picks for taking him on. I really believe in the culture and leadership that’s been built with Luka and Kyrie to bring the best out of him because if we can get that from him he works much better for this team as a guy who you really hold his own on the perimeter
I would definitely like to have Grant on the Mavs, but I just can't see a realistic avenue for it to happen.

The injury concern for Grant isn’t there. He has been artificially shut down these past few years.
If they got him for Josh and Maxi + picks, I’d be okay with it. If they didn’t, I’d be okay with it too. Mavs have a lot of options for upgrades so I’ll trust Nico and his staff to make the right decisions.

Mavs probably blew it giving up all their 2nds and THJ (for a Green Clone) to make space to sign DJJ. Which is good in and of itself. BUT....
they could have made space by releasing Exum, Larson and finding a team to take Powell(probably have to send cash in return and maybe a 2nd) Pops might have wanted him as a Leader end of bench type.
Now the mavs got rid of their big salary and it's gonna take Maxi and Green(a rotation player) and 2 firsts to get into the Grant door. So two steps forward and one step back.
Which is still a winning move but they didn't have to do it that way. Plus even if they take Maxi and Green mavs will be over the 1st threshold for sure.
Just gotta hope that their new guy can hit more than 39% of his shots and resigns next year because he and DJJ will be the only point of attack defenders..
Grant has to play the 4 on defense and maybe 3 on offense with PJ doing the opposite.
Plus they better make sure they sign DJJ before trading for grant. DJJ might take that the wrong way. (Then you would be left with the Green Clone as your only POA defender)
Double PS. If they would have done what it took to get Deni. Then he checks all the boxes and is 6-9 and young with a incredible descending contract(11 mil the last season)
Then all the talk of Grant, Harris, etc etc etc with their plus and minus ("He Fits perfectly", "He'll ruin the defense" issues being forgotten.
Not to mention with that contract. He's also be a great trade piece if needed down the road.
