I have the Action X50 and LOVE it!!! But I went with the medium DSLR core pack even though I have an EOS R. The extra room and height gives extra space where needed.
Nice to see they added a hydration bladder compartment . Not having one is a deal breaker for me going on a long mountain bike ride with all my gear a small water bottle is not going to cut it. I recently purchased a atlas athlete bag its awsome but this bag iam probably going to get also lol thanks for the video
Nice review! Does the pack come with a core case or do you have to buy that separately? Based on the starter packs sold it seems as if you buy the pack and core case separately but hard to be certain, Thanks!
Thanks for the comprehensive review - looks a great bit of kit. Do you know if a Peak Design capture clip would fit on the shoulder straps - they look a bit wide. Thanks in advance.
They are both wide and thick. I have had issues with most packs getting the Capture clip to fit. Unless there is some webbing or Hypalon that you can slide it though, nearly all of my packs do not fit the Clip. But as I am typing this you might be able to clip it on part of the waist belt.
I haven't got this bag but am considering it and have a capture clip too...I have seen the clip attached to the shoulder strap in other videos of this bag (including one from shimoda I'm pretty sure)
Did you try any of the DSLR cores in the pack which are deeper versus the mirrorless? Shimoda's website doesn't seem to list the Medium or Large v2 DSLR as being compatible with the X30 but I was wondering if they would fit.
Hi, how long is the actual padded part of the waist strap? Also, what is the height and width of the part of it that goes through the pack (behind the back padding)? Likewise does the velcro face toward the back of the pack or to the front? I am trying to determine if I could use these hips straps on another pack I own as well.
With the frame in, what is the minimal height the backpack could be compressed down to? I know its measurements say it is 19.7" tall - however, can it be compressed down further if not wearing it?
I have only tried the medium and small in the 30L size. and the large in the Explore 60. SO I would go off their recommendations. However, the NYA-EVO Fjord 26L will hold their Large RCI.
If it had a rain cover then i would buy it, there is a hack for keeping your camera gear dry, using the plastic bag the cube is supplied in. This was done by Shimoda. I've heard of a few now leaking, time will tell. but for this price it should come with a rain cover. I'm looking to replace my Wandrd 31, but not with this bag. please do another review after 6 months
I have seen a few reviews, and this is the one that convinced me to buy it. Excellent work.
Hopefully you like it. Great pack!

Great video! I’ve got a trip to Bryce/Zion and think this is what I need.
Very helpful for how to configure the bag, didn't find this anywhere else
Thanks! Hopefully that helps you with any issues.

They had one in the Explore series as well, but I feel like the X Series operates better.

@@jaysun070476 100% the NYA-EVO bags.
Great review, one of the best I have seen on this bag. Liked and subscribed. Keep em coming :)
Thanks for the support!

YeH buy them separately
@@mattritscher1930 super helpful! Thanks!

I did not. But I was able to fit my DSLR inside the Mirrorless core.
@Rob:U can try peak design medium core unit. It fits fine... getting gear out might be little tight depending how u pack it.

Hey man, Thanks for watching. I am not sure I am the best to answer these as I no longer have that pack. I switched to NYA-EVO
Hello, thx for your video, do you think the iphone pro max or similar can fit in the front strap please ?
Sorry I do not as I do not have that phone.
Any chance you think this can fit under an airplane seat as a personal bag with minimal items in the bag?
No, the frame sheet would be to big in my opinion. . The NYA-EVO fjord 26 would though
With the frame in, what is the minimal height the backpack could be compressed down to? I know its measurements say it is 19.7" tall - however, can it be compressed down further if not wearing it?
Not Height wise, only flat. If the Core unit is removed, you can compress the bag fairly flat.
@@mattritscher1930 So it is a full 19.7" tall and can't be compressed any further?
@@robdonchez Not really.
So shimoda only states that the medium mirrorless core will fit. So not the large variants. What’s your experience?

i wish these packs had removable waist bands
They do. It is attached by Velcro. The Shimoda company videos show how to take it off.
@@simoncoley2094 No way. Well in that case looks like this is my next bag!

That’s why I use NYA-EVO
You can buy a Shimoda rain cover for it very cheaply.
I’m 5’9” and the waist band is at my rib cage....
Kids.....Just say NO to caffeine......!! also, who do you know who is 8' tall...?? other than that...nice back pack...:)
Nice review . Bad filming.
Thanks. We all start somewhere.
