Rainwater Harvesting - First Real Rain Test
Вставка
- Опубліковано 4 жов 2021
- Well we had our first real rain event for the rainwater collection system and it worked great. There might be some bugs to work out of the leaf eater but I'll wait to get a few more showers to see if it needs to be adjusted.

Now you have a reason to get excited about some rain. Great Job.
Absolutely 👍
Awesome! I have serious rain tank envy! Glad to see it up and running!
Free water! Looks great, Pete!
Thanks 👍
Congratulations on your Rain catcher project I really enjoyed the videos.
Dave
Thanks 👍
Good job Pete working just like you planned.
Thanks 👍
Well done Pete, your stick-to-it-ness is inspiring, next we’ll see the downstream tanks fill!
The flow rate and amount of rain you are capturing is amazing.
Hi Pete
I love your tank setup !!
Pat From Australia
Thank you 👍
Hello from the Netherlands .
for the leaves problem : take a narrow roll of chicken wire of maximum 15a20cm,
one side you stop UNDER your roof plates and the other side OVER the gutter,
now all leaves and twigs from the roof plates come OVER the chicken wire of the roof and no longer in you gutter .
otherwise try it on the back of your shed first how it looks .
Kind regards Hollandduck from the Netherlands
That is working great ... I am envious!
Thanks 👍
Outstanding Pete, thank you for showing the system in action this is what I needed to get the wife on board. Thanks again, keep them coming....
Thank you 👍
Thanks! Wish I was at the same place in this rain catchment thing as you are.
Cool! Like to see the overflow working 😎
Thanks, I'll eventually have that video too.
That looks awesome!! Way to go!
Blessings
Thanks so much
Very cool 🌧💧👏
great work👍💝 you are my inspiration🌷💞🌷
Thank you so much 😀
AWESOME Pete! That's perfect!
That’s awesome. Great video footage too
Thanks 👍
You naild it Pete
Great job Pete
Thanks 👍
Hi Pete, this is amazing. After your huge solar power investment, this one is also another excellent investment.
I have been watching your series very carefully and want to thank you again for touching and showing all the details man! Amazing.
Thank you so much 👍
Good job 👍
Thanks 👍
the inflow point, should be pipeddown and flip up and water will be added without disrupting the bio growing in tanks.
Not sure if you can get them in the US but look at getting a leaf guard for the back gutter it will stop 95% if not all of them getting into your gutter
don't forget to test the pH. you might have to alkalize the water a bit.
Looks great Pete, do you have a rain shield on your gutters ? 💙👍
Thanks, with the way the gutters are designed, I'm not able to put regular gutter guards in. I'll have to think of something else.
Hello, Pete. I really enjoy your channel, particularly the tractoring stuff. Question re: your water tanks... Do you have any concern about them or the plumbing between them freezing?
Thank you, all the plumbing outside will be buried when I'm done.
well done pete! do you have to use any water cleansing tablets when storing water in those types of tanks?
Thank you, not completely sure if I'll need chlorine treatment once in a while but time will tell.
@@petebeasttexashomesteading i guess i forgot this water was primarily for the garden/orchard. i guess if you all ever needed this water to drink or cook with you could just boil it first. and i think i remember you saying you had a berkey filter as well. if you are looking for another project to start, would love to watch a compost bin setup build similar to charles dowding on yt.
@@bw-mi9xp 👍
Do the tanks get hot from texas summers?
No not really, there's a lot of water volume to warm up.
are you going to put some chlorine to keep bacteria away ?
Not sure yet, this will mainly be used to water the garden but I don't want the water to get nasty either. Time will tell if I need to use chlorine once in a while.
The leaf eater is a bad design. The lip on the side is where the leaves get hung up. And the screen is concave when it should be convex.
wasting a lot of water.
