I would question the veracity of that claim. If a Janissary fathered any legitimate children, it would be raised in Muslim lands, be educated in Muslim schools and befriend other Muslim children. The only realistic exception would be if he fathered a child while out on campaign. In other words: if he forced himself onto a Christian woman, and she then raised his child in Christian lands.

@@ok00001 Not necessarily. There are janissaries who escaped and converted back to Christianity. A famous example is Konstantin Mihailović, a Serb who wrote a book called "memoirs of a janissary"

The Janissary Corps (not Corpse! LOL) was composed of kidnapped and enslaved Christian boys and the Sultan's harem was composed of kidnapped and enslaved Christian girls, all forcibly converted to Islam. So much for "wonderful" Ottoman culture.
