- Salutations! The first installment of Halo 2 Uncut was a huge hit, not just with the video, but also the mod itself. The development of Uncut has been a great training session for me as I become more used to some of the other aspects of Halo modding, mainly in the scripting department. I plan to take what I learn from developing Halo 2 Uncut and implementing it into Halo: Reach Evolved when the Reach tools finally drop. Anyways, I recently released the 0.4 update of Halo 2 Uncut, which includes various changes to Outskirts and Metropolis, introduces the next two missions in the game, The Arbiter and The Oracle, and changes some of the weapons, vehicles, and characters in Halo 2, including some new weapons altogether.

After learning of the whole Digsite team working to officially restore and introduce cut content, I'm wondering if Vadam is a part of this team? It seems right up his alley, especially after seeing the official introduction of that cut H2 mission Alphamoon
15:32 I gotta be honest, the reason the tanks might've been removed is because if you choose to board the scarab early, you may very well just get killed by the scorpions. I suppose it's worth testing, but it seems like it could be an issue.
A simple fix: script the scorpions to stop firing once the player has entered
That little ambush scene with the dropped plasma pistol, joe says "be quiet this is ambush" and the "throw grenade make boom" are why I love the grunts so much in halo 2! Great video as always vadam and thank you to everyone else that has been helping
That ambush would have made the level.
If bungie actually pulled through with this grunts driving cars idea I honestly would love halo 2 even more

It’s amazing how Halo 2 is full of so many stuff to uncover but such a shame that Bungie couldn’t implement it all.
Halo 2 should have never been made the way it was.......all this cut stuff just makes it better.....they probably just dident have time for it all.

The dialogue that your allies are scripted to say throughout the campaign is one of my favorite things to focus on. Since they don't always trigger when they're supposed to, I sometimes find lines that I never heard before.
A big example of this was on Delta Halo when you first see the lake. One of your marines is scripted to say:
"Woah. It's like a postcard. Dear Sarge, Kicking ass in outer space; wish you were here."
And then Johnson replies with: "I heard that, Jackass!"
For a whole decade, I didn't understand the context of this dialogue exchange, because the marine's lines simply didn't activate for me on the original Xbox.
This treasure hunt you're doing for Halo 2 is pure bliss. Phenomenal work.
Alot of them are usually triggered under very specific circumstances.
I only recently figured out that both Perez and I think Cross have their own voiced lines for that scene. I always thought Perez was the only one with a line for that scene.
Are you sure it was bugged? I know the first line is very quiet, and I often miss it if I don't intentionally stop driving.
@@southpaw117 i think the way Halo 2 handles some dialogue is that, sometimes, a specific character is made to say a certain line. This character will say the line, but they might not even be close to you, so the sequence makes no sense because the script called on a character 40 yards away from you.
@@southpaw117 Yeh. Although the line is quiet and easy to miss, I legitimately have no memory of it back then. It was only until I played Halo 2 on the MCC when I could actually hear that line in its appropriate context.
I have a feeling the Scorpion ambush is in reference to the final game's scripted scene just before you go to board the Scarab. It just seems more likely to be what it's referring to, unless somehow the Boulevard you drive through in the final game was meant to be where you boarded the Scarab instead.
Tbh the area in the final game doesn't look that far off from a road. Like if you removed the water and had the area below changed into a city street and instead of it being over a canal the fight was instead taking place on a bunch of skyways between buildings...that could make alot of sense actually.
11:02. Fun fact, that line isn’t entirely cut from the game, in fact it’s largely the same but said by Perez I think. I remember glitching out of Outskirts during my LASO run and when going towards the Pelican evac area (where the restored bridge is), you can hear Perez say this exact line of dialogue. I got it consistently too.
14:12. This sequence puts a whole lotr more meaning behind Cortana’s line here “that’s quite a welcome party.”

Those grunts driving cars is perfect. Smart to make use of assets just laying around in a effective way and it’s silly. Such a grunt move. But maybe a bit silly for the tone.
Lol even got the drones in on it. Show the big guys what they got. Good under dog story.
I really hope that this turns into something that only triggers if you stand in a particular spot or do something specific. Would be even more cooler if they are allied and appear throughout the mission.

I get the feeling the part with the grunts driving cars must've been some sort of Easter-egg that ends up getting triggered depending on what you do. Kinda like how in the other Halo games where you go to specific spots Siege of Madrigal will play, or in Halo Reach where you find the buttons you can fly a Pelican.
Tbh that makes more sense considering how silly the idea is.
Easter eggs often appear as references or jokes and the grunts driving cars with buggers on top definitely categorise as some sort of in game joke perhaps made by one of the devs.
So you're right probably, must have been some sort of trigger on the bridge to make the encounter play out like that.

Whatever voice modulator you used, it sounded really accurate for the grunt... or it was the one time pitch shifting was helpful and not annoying as hell

Would be awesome if you could cover the floating switch on Delta Halo….often said to be a place holder for the gondola switch on Regret, though doesn’t make sense as the game has to load a completely new .map file for Regret so any sort of “pre-caching” isn’t going to hold any benefit there AFAIK, maybe regret and delta halo use to be one map??? Be great to hear your thoughts on this, maybe you can shine some light on the “Mystery of the gate” ;)

@@clxxxvii. There's a lot of smaller mods that are being released though. Not everyone has time to make big, extravagant mods that change up the entire game.

I'm sure there are a bunch of current/former Bungie devs that are relieved to see their discarded work finally shine. The crunch period of Halo 2 was exhausting and heartbreaking. Fantastic work.

The attention to detail you put into this mod is nothing short of incredible! I had a quick question about the scarab battle, previously the scarabs turrets shot a hunter beam and fought a pelican, is that still in the mod?

SO FUKIN DOPE! I CAN'T GET ENOUGH OF THIS! I wish we had this halo2 in 2004 but it makes sense why they couldn't do this with the time restraints and the OG xbox itself
This is the best part about Halo to me; No matter how old the game is, no matter when you are playing it, no matter how many times Half-Jaw has smelled that stench before, there’s always something within the game, vanilla or modded, that always seems to provide a new experience. It’s what keeps the game alive and I live for it!
That fight scene with the Juggernaut.. just wow... you've done some of the best work I've seen for Halo 2, which I might add is my favorite in the original trilogy. I can't wait to see what comes next!!

I cant wait to see what you uncover on The Gravemind. High Charity in Halo 2 is amazing and I wonder if there are any more cool Great Schism battle moments and dialogue
I hope the High Charity level (forerunnership) after Gravemind gets the warthog run restored mod ported in, replacing the original conduit at the end of the level as opposed to the original mod having the hog run replace the level entirely. I especially like the massive jump down the gravity tunnel: it reminds me of an eclipse cannon conduit in Shadow the Hedgehog’s The ARK level, and it’s possible for the warthog to barrel roll in this section sometimes.
@@lionocyborg6030 The warthog run for halo 2 definitely will be getting restored since it was a massively cut original ending to the campaign mission and vengeful did state this is a restoration build for halo 2.
And since the warthog run already had a modeled section which in addition was restored completely by other modders.
All it takes is a simple port over and boom, instantly restored.

The convoy of grunt driven cars is like the herd of grunts on hoglets that comes out of the natural cave formation in cursed halo
This gives me the fever dream potential of thinking of what you and Ruby of Blue can accomplish if you combine your efforts, alongside the assistance of almost every other player assisting in modding. It would be like digging for the holy grail.

Thanks for restoring the cut content to Halo 2 man. I always felt H2 was incomplete when I first played it years ago, and the old br and new encounters you've fixed really made a fun revisit playthrough for me.

The boulevard is a mention to the earlier sectionright before this one. With the scarab goingcircles around the city block
Could be, yeah, but i found it kind of hard to interpret at the time since you’re technically still pacing it in the final section, and having tanks at the ending arena was a hard sell outside of a Pelican drop.
